There we have it…although I’m sure there’ll be a few other surprises thrown in to spice up our intro to 2010. Happy New Years from all the Banditas!!! I have the pleasure of giving away the first prize of 2010, a $10 (to celebrate the year!) gift certificate from Barnes and Noble. All you have to do is tell us what New Years resolution you won’t make because you know you won’t keep it. The most entertaining answer wins!

Now, we also want to celebrate big moments for the Banditas—one of our lovely of our Australian contingent, Anna Campbell, has just received the gorgeous Australian edition of CAPTIVE OF SIN. It's a lovely trade paperback that isn’t available overseas so she thought she'd share the joy. TWO people can choose which of Anna's four books they’d like to receive in the bigger version so the prize is a signed copy of either CLAIMING THE COURTESAN, UNTOUCHED, TEMPT THE DEVIL or CAPTIVE OF SIN. All you have to do is email Anna on anna@annacampbell.info with the title of her June 2010 release. You might find the answer in January’s Latest News. http://www.annacampbell.info/latest.html For more information, please visit Anna's contest page: http://www.annacampbell.info/contest.html

  1. a new years resolution i won't make is: "lose ten pounds" or "lose weight." i've been making this resolution for as long as i can remember and every time the opposite always happens. so before 2009 hit last, last year i figured my resolution would be "gain 10 lbs" and it became a whole 'nother problem (complete with me running laps all this summer). this year, no resolutions period--they never work out.

5 hours till midnight on my side of the world...

  2. What a line up!!!! Fabulous way to start off the year. The resolution I won't make is to lose weight, I'm afraid if I do I won't keep it. If I don't make it maybe I'll be able to at least work on a healthy lifestyle.

    Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, Kim...I won't make the resolution NOT to lust after Gerard Butler!! (Got my own copy of The Ugly Truth for Christmas!!)

  11. Happy New Year. Hard to say what resolutions I won't be keeping, but I know I can't layoff shopping for things I don't need like another pair of tight jeans or shoes that make my feet hurt.

  12. Congrats chelleyreads have fun with him

What another awesome line up for January can't wait.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone I hope everyone has a safe and prosperous year and also filled with lots of book publications.

A new years resolution that I will never make is to loose weight no way I am going to try and get a bit healthier but loose weight not on your life LOL.

  13. Happy 2010!

Some resolutions I will not make:

    Giving up sweets
    Stop buying books
Stop taking pictures of my children when they are running from me and screaming at me to stop
Stop wearing my amazingly warm robe that the whole family agrees is the ugliest thing ever

    ReplyDelete
  14. Congratulations chelleyreads!!!! How was New Years with the GR???

    ReplyDelete
  15. Chelleyreads...I hear you on weight loss goals blowing up. Chocolate cake is way too good to give up anyways. Wishing you a very happy 2010.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Renee, happy you like the line-up!

And don't worry about echoing Chelleyreads goals. I have a feeling that there might be others out there with the same thought!!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Louisa, Happy New Years to you. Hope it's a banner year.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Gillian, you make me ROFL. Reading great novels is waaaaay more important than that thingamagig called housework!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Happy New Year Banditas!

    Gorgeous covers, Anna!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Kim H, great name by the way. LOL Exercise and sleep--two of the most talked about things in the world! Did you know that lack of sleep prevents weight loss? I like the thought of sleeping off weight!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Virginia, wishing you and your family a wonderful 2010! Thanks for supporting us!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Suz, just think of the energy you'll save making that non-resolution. Besides, he's worth every lusting moment!!!! Enjoy THE UGLY TRUTH!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Jane, LOL on the jeans and shoes. Why do we make these impulse purchases--the excitement of the moment??? You're not alone!!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Helen, healthy is good! Maybe we'll sprinkle a little fairy dust in the lair today to help make everyone's dreams come true??

    ReplyDelete
  25. Maureen, it sounds to me like you have your priorities straight! LOL I need to hear more about this robe...color, fabric. I'll bet it's super-comfortable and that's why you wear it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Happy New Year to all!
I know I have good intentions to make more quilt blocks for a quilt I started 1 1/2 years ago, but that's probably a resolution that will go to the wayside. (My mom wants me to quilt and I started for her, but all that precise cutting...grrr.)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Happy New Year One & All : )

I will not make the resolution to eat less chocolate and other temptingly wicked treats. I did that last year and 2009 was the worst year of my life!!! Not only was it the worst year, I suffered through with a pitifully small consumption of chocolate! I plan to amp up my chocolate intake for 2010, and that way I know at least part of the year will be happy : )

  28. Happy 2010, Banditas and BBs!!! (which I just read is supposed to be pronounced "twenty ten," as opposed to "two thousand ten"--who knew??)

  29. Wishing the Banditas, Bandita Buddies, and all the guests to The Lair a very happy new year and happy new decade!

I've thoroughly enjoyed my 2.5 years here and am looking forward to many, many more.

A couple suggestions for the Banditas: Would you please do a monthly roundup of upcoming Bandita book releases? Somehow that information is not getting enough eyeball time from readers. Also, your blog sidebar seems to cut off the dates on the second column of books.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Happy New Year, Bandita buddies! January is shaping up to be another banner month in the lair, from the looks of today's blog! Thanks, Kim!

As for resolutuions, I'm going with a new one this year. (I will never learn to talk less and continuing to promise I will gets self-hating after a few years, you know?)

Anyway, this year I'm going to try very hard not to talk myself out of an initial kind impulse. I'm always doing that--thinking, "Oh, I should call that person," or write, or drop by or send a gift or who knows what. Then I remember that I don't know that person very well, & it'll likely be awkward. Before I know it, I'm just thinking warm thoughts instead of reaching out.

This year, I will reach out. I will make new connections.

I will probably talk just as much as I always do. :-) Sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Happy New Year, everyone! This month is looking like a great way to start the new year. Always a good time in the Lair!

The resolution I will never keep is to lower my book budget and beat down my TBR mountain. Yeah, right, like that's going to happen! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  32. Deb, I hear you on all that precise cutting. I'm no craftswoman!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Virginia C, I hope you are enjoying a fabulous piece of chocolate right this moment to kick in the New Years!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Frank, thanks for sharing the info about the pronunciation of 2010...I wonder who makes that decision???

    ReplyDelete
  35. Kiera, thanks so much for making those suggestions. We're always open to creating a better environment, especially when it involves talking about Bandita books!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Susan, what a lovely idea to follow through on good deeds. Even if you don't know the person well, I'm sure your gesture will touch his/her heart. Kindness from an acquaintance can really make someone's day. As for talking too much, no such thing when it comes to someone as cute and intelligent as you. Chat to your heart's content!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Gannon, hilarious non-resolution. I think you're among friends here. I hate to think of how high my TBR pile is right now...

    ReplyDelete
  38. Whooopt! Great lineup, KJ, for our first month of the new decade!

Uh, weight loss, not resoluting because I won't follow through!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Thought of another one...
Scrapbooking. HA! I'm already 9 years behind, what's another year? Poor Shary, pictures galore and empty scrapbooks!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Chelleyreads, congrats on taking home the rooster!

I don't make resolutions anymore. I make plans. They seem somehow less intimidating and more flexible. Main one: Get back to the gym!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Happy New Year, one and all! I'm old enough to remember when 2010 seemed really far away, and now here it is.

We have a banner month here in the Lair, and we're also heading over to the Romance Dish to be their guests for a week. This'll be a fun start to the new year.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Renee, Trish has been encouraging us all to pay more attention to health. she has a Healthy Writer blog (as you may know). It's http://healthywriter.blogspot.com

    ReplyDelete
  43. Suz, speaking of Gerard Butler, he has a movie coming out this year with Jennifer Anniston. Based on the trailer, we aren't sure how good the movie really will be, but, well, he's in it.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Another fantastic lineup. Great way to kick off a new year and a new decade.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Happy New Year!

I resolve to try and get through my TBR pile, I have two BOXES of books, and still I keep buying!

Lose weight, meh. Like that's going to happen, LOL! I will try to exercise more, as long it is an exercise where I can read a book, time to get the cobwebs off the exercise bike!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oh and I meant to say, great line up for January, look forward to it!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Uh... Does Chelley have the GR? Has anyone seen him?

Last I saw, he was barreling up a gas pipeline on an ATV with some blond and a Mountain Dew bottle full of some clear liquid that I don't think was Mountain Dew.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Hey, Chelley! Have you had the rooster before? Watch out for him, he's a cunning little avian!

Well, it's the 2nd January here in Oz but happy new year to those still celebrating the 1st.

What a great list of guests we've got coming up in January. Can't wait! I'm really exciting to be hosting two fantastic debut historical authors - I can't get over the fantastic, fresh new voices coming into the genre at the moment.

Thanks, KJ, for putting up the notice. Wow! An exciting 31 days coming up!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hey, Keira, thanks for the suggestions. Great idea, especially the new releases!

Deb M, thanks for saying that about the Aussie cover. It's gorgeous, isn't it?

P226, actually I had a rooster sighting. He popped by and stole all my Tim Tams and then took off laughing his feathered head off. He's usually more subdued after you've had charge of him. Clearly, you need to revisit your rooster training manual! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Anna, I think it was the Blue Moon. It has a strange effect on Roosters. Chellyreads, watch out for that bird!

Kim, great lineup! I'm excited about twenty-ten (and like you, I'm wondering who gets to decide THAT?)

I think its going to be a FAB year in the Lair, just FAB!!!

As to resolutions, I'm with Nancy, I set goals and make plans. Screw the resolutions. Snork.

Susan, I will never talk less. I know this. I could resolve to not talk MORE, but that would probably be futile too. Snork.

What won't I resolve? I won't resolve to stop buying trees or plants - I always find a place for them, somehow. I won't resolve to stop letting the dogs sleep on the bed. Grins. I won't resolve anythign about weight or exercise. Everytime I do, I feel like a rebelious two-year old and sabotage myself. "See? I don't HAVE to exercise. Stupid resolution!" (Now doesn't that sound like 2 y/o thinking? Like the resolution itself has some power?)

So, anti-resolutions out on the deck, I'll just peruse the plant catalogs, while petting the dogs who are sitting on the bed with me and resolvedly NOT exercising.

    Snork.

  51. Happy New Year EVERYONE!!!!

    WOW! What a line up!

    A resolution I know I won't keep?. . .

I Dorthy resolve to not make the resolution of going Ice fishing this year.

That's right the resolution that I'm NOT going to make is to go ice fishing this year.

Might not seem like a big one, but my hubby has been trying to get me to go ice fishing for the past 2 years. I went once. And it wasn't that good of an experience, haven't been back on the ice since.

Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful new year! And has many many books to read.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Happy New Year to everyone in the Lair! I love all these non-resolutions.

This year, I realized the futility of resolving not to eat so many sweets over the holidays and resolved instead to eat more dark green veggies. This actually worked pretty well. So I'm trying to apply that to my New Year's Resolutions -- resolve to do things I already want to do. ;-)

Along those lines, I resolve to do more yoga and relax more (okay, this is actually pretty difficult for me). LOL.

I definitely do not resolve to lose weight, but if that were to happen magically...well, I'd be okay with that.

Oh, here's a serious one -- I resolve to start closing the bathroom door. My kids are 7 and 9. I don't need to keep an eye on them anymore while I'm going pee. **VBG**

    ReplyDelete
  53. Was that TMI?

Is this what Susan meant when she resolved not to talk so much?

Okay, I resolve to do a little self-censorship while I'm posting messages in a public forum.

    LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Happy New Year everyone!

I'm excited about the coming year, and spending it here in the lair with y'all, with good reads, good drinks, and good Gladiators and cabana boys! And Sven. Mustn't forget Sven.....

    And the rooster.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Kirsten said:

    Was that TMI?

Nah. We all do it. Pee, I mean. And I think it is time to start closing that door. This is one of the reasons God did not make me a parent. I would have had to get a babysitter every time I went to the bathroom because I cannot leave that door open. Can. Not. Even when I'm alone in the house.

    Okay that probably IS TMI....

    ReplyDelete
  56. Happy NEW YEAR!!

The New Years resolution I won't make is to stop eating chocolate and sweets in 2010.
I resolve not to organize my home any more.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Hello Kim! Happy New Year!
I always say I going to exercise, lose weight and get healthy. I always mean it but something happens and or shall we say, "it doesn't happen." My older sister is an exercise guru who is constantly on a diet even though she doesn't need to be. I've never wanted to be like her but I don't like being out of shape. I believe when I'm really ready to do it I will but for right now...I like being me...

    ReplyDelete
  58. I won't make the resolution to loose weight, because when I do I don't loose a pound. I am going to try to exercise more!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hey, I'm back again!!! My internet was down for a bit because of the snow...I live in the country and have satellite internet and the weather often affects it. Thanks to everyone who stopped by today. Big New Year hugs to everyone!!!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Everyone had great non-resolutions...gave me lots to think about and laugh over! The winner of today's prize is Dorthy. As a Canadian, I'm often invited out ice fishing and the thought of sitting in the freezing cold, cutting a hole in the ice, and waiting for some poor little fishy to take the bait is just sooo unappealing (no offense to those who are fans). So, please touch base with your email so that I can send you a gift card from Barnes and Noble. You can tell your husband that you'd love to go fishing if you didn't have this marvelous paperback you had to read! LOL Happy New Year!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Kim, I completly understand about the satalite internet. Thats what I have. :-)

    I can't believe I won.
was I supposed to e-mail you, or leave my e-mail here?

Well, I'll do both to cover all my bases.
I e-mailed you from your website.
    and my e-mail is

    dorthyn @ email . com

well here's to a wonderful book filled year with no ice fishing. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  62. hi everyone!! i did get the GR, huh? (whispers--quietly LOLing: i didn't think this post counted)

didn't realize i had him. he must have been that pesky one that kept popping fireworks outside my window past midnight...

hope you all had a great new year!! :)
