An Afternoon Fantasy

by Tawny

Happy 2011!!! We're almost halfway through the first month of the new year, and time is steadily rolling along, isn't it? And if you stop and put your hand to your ear and listen closely, you'll hear thousands of resolutions breaking LOL.

I always think that January should be that time of taking a sigh and relaxing after the craziness of the holidays. And I'm always surprised that it's twice as hectic and busy for me as the previous couple of months were. Probably because of all the tasks I put off during the holidays that I now have to catch up on.

So while I am running around like a crazed headless chicken, I started fantasizing (go figure). Yes, a few Johnny Depp fantasies fluttered through my head. And I had a couple of dreamy shoe thoughts, but for the most part, my fantasies focused on relaxation. Not even a week of relaxation (nope, don't have that kind of time to spare) or even a weekend (Oh, I wish, but can't) but instead, a single afternoon of relaxation.

One. Single. Afternoon. Oh joy!!!

My fantasy involved a luxurious spa afternoon, complete with a decadent dessert, a serene massage and a long nap.

If you had a single afternoon of relaxation - it could be anything or anywhere (desert island, cruise ship, castle, spa) with anyone (except Johnny Depp. He's mine *g*) doing anything (Oh my oh my oh my!) - what would your fantasy afternoon include?

  1. an afternoon fantasy -- where to begin :) maybe a nice mountain cabin by a lake where it's warm (not hot) with my puppy girl, a good book, and a cabana boy or two or three ;) to wait on me :)

    aaahhh such pleasant dreams :)

  2. at least I get the GR -- wonder if I can get him do laundry & dishes without ruining or breaking anything ;)

  3. Hey, Gamistress, you're spending the day with the rooster. Not sure if that's what Tawny Depp had in mind!

    ReplyDelete
  4. I'd take Brad Pitt to a deserted Island. Well you know for sightseeing and...um...he could save me from the savages...if any ...

    ReplyDelete
  5. I see myself in a small secluded villa somewhere warm where I can lounge on a wide terrace surrounded with lush flowering vegetation and wide views of turquoise seas. I have my books near to hand, my laptop, and some kind of fruity rum drink. *sigh*

  6. Well, i think I'm going to be in the next cabana to Laurie as somewhere with ocean breezes appears to me. My afternoon would definitely include a massage. Aaaahhh...my muscles are relaxing just at the thought.

Love the picture of the kitty massage. Too cute!

  7. honestly id pick a warm cozy nook witha good book warm blanket and my favorite tea with my better half rubbing my feet

    thats what would be awesome

  8. Congrats on the GR, Gamistress.

I want to spend it on Tahiti and in between my massages I will be sampling the exotic cuisine and fresh fruits. I wonder if Henry Cavill from "The Tudors" can be my companion for the afternoon.

  9. Lying on a beach in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, in the shade. There will be soft breezes and no vog. Can I get Hugh Jackman? And/or my fave cover model, Paul Marron, and my second fave, Jed Hill. Maybe thrown in Bollywood star John Abraham as well (I have a thing for abs, what can I say?). And they can give me massages (so I'm going to need a massage table under the palm tree on the beach), all at the same time.

I want cold fresh pineapple juice and young coconut juice (in different glasses). Strawberry papaya halves with a squeeze of lime. Aaahhh.....

  10. Ooooh, Gamistress Nice fantasy :-) Especially the getting the Rooster to do laundry and dishes part LOL. I'm thinking that is definitely a dreamy afternoon. I do love the warm cabin, trio of sexy cabana boys and good book idea, too!!

Just reading that makes me relax :-)

  11. I don't know, Fo. A day with a bird might have a few fantasy elements. I mean, if Gamistress can get him to do laundry, I'd let him hang out here :-D

  12. LOL Nas Dean... lots of sightseeing and savages on that island, hmmm? Throw in Brad Pitt and that's a whole lot of excitement in your fantasy!!!

  13. Oh Laurie!! What a lovely picture you paint. I want to visit your fantasy!!! It sounds so idyllic and relaxing.

Cheers!! (toasting you with a fruity rum drink)

  14. Donna, are those kitties adorable?! I loved it when I found it and had to write an entire blog around it LOL. Like you, I really would love a massage. I'm due to turn my current book in on Monday and my celebration treat is a massage!!

Isn't that just the most relaxing wonderfulness? All those knotted muscles unknotting *g*

    ReplyDelete
  15. SiNn -what a perfectly lovely, simple fantasy. I think those are the best sometimes, aren't they? Just to be warm and cozy and relaxed.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Jane, I think Henry Cavill will be a perfect companion! He can hand feed you those exotics fruits, rub delicious scented oils over your skin and make sure your massage pillow is fluffed just right as you lay in the Tahiti sun ;-)

  17. Ooooh lala, Sheree :-D

The beach in Hawaii, surrounded by Paul and Hugh and John and Jed? That sounds like one fabulous afternoon... I might question how relaxed you'd be, since it sounds kinda exciting to me ;-)

Especially with all those guys giving massages LOL

  18. At the moment, it is POURING in Hawaii. We've had some flooding (but not as much as Australia).

Still, I'd love to spend the afternoon with Alex O'Laughlin for cocktails at the Koa Malina (Officers' Club) on Marine Corps Base Hawaii - it has a billion dollar view of the Pacific Ocean (and whales breaching during season).

  19. How's the laundry going gamistress LOL
Well mean as we don't see any snow here I would love to be in a cabin by a big roaring fire and snowing outside curled up on the lounge with a good romance book

    ReplyDelete
  20. Well done gamistress66 have fun relaxing with him

    Tawny

Relaxation oh I love that word LOL if only, I have just got home from a 10 hour shift and I am going to curl up on the recliner very soon with my book LOL, but a fantasy afternoon for me lying on a deck chair on a cruise ship with a good book and waiters to refill the cocktails for me a gentle sea breeze and miles of ocean LOL.

I am actually going away in the morning for a couple of days to Bondi Beach and staying at The Swiss Grand Hotel and Spa where we are having the next Romance Readers convention in March to check a few things out and finalize a few things and then finish the weekend by having our romance readers lunch at a nice Thai restaurant and then San Churrios for a chocolate dersert it will be busy but I am sure it is going to be fun.

    Have Fun
    Helen

  21. I wouldn't even have to go anywhere special myself, just a nice warm soak in my own little tub. Curl up on the couch with my coke and read, that would work for me. Of course if the lair could loan me a couple of cabana boys all the better.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well, it's very simple. I'd be in Scotland with a kilted Highlander in his keep with no one but him and I spending "quality time" together if you get my meaning. God I love Highlanders.:)And just listening to him speak with that sexy brogue...

  23. Tawny, yay for dreaming...

I'd go with an island with an all-inclusive exclusive resort with huts over the water and a staircase to the beach. The "huts" are an outer look with a wraparound veranda that's really a comfortable and elegant sitting room but open to the air.. Inside, you'll find two huge luxurious rooms, one a bedroom, one a bathroom. You'd start the day off with yoga at the main house of the resort, then breakfast on the veranda. You'd go for a swim, then a bath and an in-hut massage. This would be followed by lunch on your veranda and a nap. After that, you'd go off to get your hair and nails done and return for dressing. Now, comes the dreamboat, with a boat to escort you in to a delicious dinner, dancing, and dessert. He's handsome, charming, interested in you, and has witty conversation over wide-ranging topics. Afterwards, he drops you back to your hut ALONE. You spend some dreamy time on the veranda and then go inside to sleep. In between all these activites, you read new novels by all your favorite authors.

(This last is the most fantastical element of my fantasy.)

    Congrats gamistress66 on the GR.

  24. Tawny, BTW, I went with a whole day, not just an afternoon. I arrive the night before and I leave the next day morning. :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well, if Keira's having a full day, so am I!

I'd love a private cottage on a beach - perhaps in the Caribbean. Breakfast on the veranda, served by the butler, followed by a lazy morning on the beach with frequent dips into the turquoise sea. An afternoon's spa treatment would be perfect. Then, dinner under the stars with all my favourite foods and my favourite man. *happy sigh*

Oh and somehow, miraculously, my book has been revised and is ready to go out so I don't have to worry about it! LOL

  26. Tawny said...Especially the getting the Rooster to do laundry and dishes part LOL.

Keeping him away from the dishes, he seems a little jumpy for some reason ----- Cin, stop growling already ------ can't imagine why he seems nervous ;)

barb said...How's the laundry going gamistress LOL

Will try laundry after lunch, seem to recall making scrubbing the toilet (or was that using him to scrub the toilet) was a great motivator ;) maybe then I can get back to that dream about a cabin & cabana boys ;)

  27. Hmmmm ONLY AN AFTERNOON...REally??
    Man!!!
Well I did promise I would try to kidnap John Cusack for my best friend's 30th b-day....LOL
    Wouldn't that be fun!!!!
or maybe a relaxing spa day with the girls....I've Never had one of those..
What the heck...A nice afternoon cruise with a bunch of hot guys serving us drinks and a top of the line chef to make lunch...for all of my girlfriends...
    Wow Choices Choices Choices...lol

  28. Spa.

    Spa, spa, spa, spa.

Followed by chocolate. Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate.

Yeah, I tried to get Grayson to massage me, but the gashes and blood interfered with the relaxation part :0

    ReplyDelete
  29. If you get the GR to do laundry and / or dishes without destroying anything let us know !! I think he does it on purpose in the hope we will stop trying to domesticate him!

Hmmm, an afternoon of relaxation sounds divine at this point !!

A villa on the coast of Spain. A lovely veranda overlooking the ocean. Richard Armitage reading Georgette Heyer to me and Gerard Butler giving me a full body massage. A late lunch of my favorite foods, a nap with my two escorts and a late afternoon dip in the ocean followed by another massage and reading, maybe I'll get Richard to read Claiming the Courtesan and Sweetest Little Sin this time! Sigh!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Laurie's secluded villa sounds
wonderful. Add in all the best
    of spa treatments, my favorite
    meals and drinks, and special
    companions. (Honey or David
    Boreanas? David or Honey? Or
    both plus other favorites? Not
greedy, am I?) Oh well it is a
fantasy, isn't it?? I will add
books to the list, but will I
    have reading time available?

  31. Me on a towel on the beach. The breeze is cool, the sun is warm, the waves are rolling...then the cabana boy arrives with a cool, fruity cocktail and tells me the bandita beach party starts in twenty minutes...

What a great visualization technique, Tawny. I don't even need a break any more! Which is lucky because I have a book due very soon!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Christine

Love the thought of that book due soon YAY

    Have Fun
    Helen

There are some great ideas for relaxtion

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think anywhere that I can read a good book in peace without being bothered. That would be heaven.

    ReplyDelete
  34. LOL - love the picture of the cats! Too cute *g*

I'd be perfectly happy to spend the afternoon at home with a good book - as long as I'm by myself :-)
    Now that would be relaxing!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Kim, it must be so lovely to live in paradise :-) Hugs on the flooding. It's horrifying to watch the devastation on the news, my heart just breaks for everyone affected. I'm so glad you not having quite as much flooding.

As for Alex O'Laughlin, very nice fantasy material there!!! He's actually in the running for my Sexiest Eyes Hunk of the Month contest over on my website :-D Soooo yummy!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hi Barb :-)

Having spent very little time in the snow myself, I'm sure my opinion is flawed. But I'm thinking that a roaring fire, a pile of books and a glass of something yummy (maybe a hunk thrown in for spice) is the BEST way to enjoy snow!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm so glad you made it an afternoon so I could sleep in. *LOL*

I'd want a full body massage (2 HOURS!), while listening to relaxing music. Afterwards I'd have some cheese fondue...and a chocolate fondue. Some wine. Read a great book or watch a new DVD. Then I'd end my perfect night with some rowdy sex. Preferably with Ryan Reynolds, but I suppose my Deerhunter would work...

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ohhhh...a whole afternoon.

It'd be a spa afternoon. But not the carpeted, drywalled little rooms that the local spas have--in other words, just a regular office building pretending to be a spa.

It would be gorgeous environment. Warm sun, palm trees, water--a brook with ferns and steam coming off rocks. Tile floors, Greek columns, archways, the whole deal. There'd be wonderful wine and tables laden with cheese and fruit with nary a pastry in sight. It would include a detox of some kind, maybe a body wrap, a total facial, including that rejuvenating very shallow laser thing they do to exfoliate, a hot rocks treatment, essential oils, energy work, a massage, my eyebrows waxed, mani-pedi, some kind of awesome body wrap or something else wonderful I've never had, and there'd be relaxing music, candles, and all the people would be totally awesomely nice.

    Aaahhhhhh.

Okay now I want it. :0(

  39. Oh Helen, if anyone deserves a lovely break on a cruise ship, it's you!! Yikes on the long workday.

Your trip to the hotel this weekend sounds lovely, though. I'll bet it's going to be a fab conference!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Dianna, I think we have a few cabana boys floating around that we could spare for you :-D One will run your bath and add sweetly scented salts, the other will freshen your coke. Would you like the third for massage, or to cook for you? Or both ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  41. LOL Carol. I do like the idea of quality time, so to speak ;-) What a fabulous afternoon fantasy. And those highlanders... oh my, they are hot!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Keira, a dreamboat with a dream boat :-D I love it!!! What a gorgeous fantasy, you painted such a pretty picture and now I want to go there!!!

I think the time alone and the tons of book reading time is just SO fabulous :-D

    ReplyDelete
  43. LOL on extending your fantasy time, Keira ;-) I would too!

    ReplyDelete
  44. See, Keira, what you started! Now Anna's snagging a full day, too.

I have one question, Anna- is your breakfast serving butler a hunk? Is he only wearing a pair of low slung white pants that show off his delicious tan?

Oh wait, I'm hijacking your fantasy. Sorry!! Back to you ;-)

I love your fantasy addendum, btw. Get that book done, baby!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Work that Rooster, Gamistress ;-) I love that you're using toilet cleaning as a threat!!

I hope he calms down before you put a bottle of bleach in his feathered fingers (now there's an image!)

    ReplyDelete
  46. LOL BJ. Well it started as only an afternoon, but Keira and Anna expanded that a little :-D

I love how you're combining all those fun fantasies into one! Too cool. I think you should definitely have John Cusack there with you, though! Your girlfriends will love it ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  47. ROFLM JoanieT. Yep, I think kitty massages bring with them a slight risk. I'm with you, the skin and blood would definitely sideline the relaxation.

YAY on the spa and chocolate plans. I'm right there next to ya!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Great topic, TD, but aren't we actually in the second week of the new year? OMG, did you lose another week, girl?

Congrats on claiming the rooster, gamistress. Can he help Tawny find her missing week?

Ah, relaxation! I'm afraid the next generation will ban it from the dictionary and no one will even know what it used to mean.

I'm going for the cruise -- ALL ALONE. I haven't been getting enough me-time what with the two men I live with!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Wow, Louisa - a great fantasy, hot hunks AND fabulous reading choices!! It sounds like an ideal day.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Pat, I'm a firm believer that there is ALWAYS reading time. It might have to be combined with other things sometimes (which things you choose with all those hunks at your beck and call, well, that's up to you LOL).

I definitely think you should go for BOTH plus. I mean, it's fantasy. Why not go for the gusto, right?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Bandita Beach Party!!!

    Woooot!!!

I love it, Madame :-D Now that's a fabulous fantasy.

And yes, visualized breaks and trips like these are wonderful, aren't they? They actually do lower the heart rate, relieve stress and give us a nice little smile.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Won't it be fab to have another great read by Christine, Helen?! Talk about adding to the fantasy level in the lair! Ohhh yeah, I'm looking forward to that!

    ReplyDelete
  53. *g* Danielle, I think this is why we often take to reading in the bathroom with the door shut and locked. The aesthetics leave a lot to be desired, but oh the privacy and peace to read and read and read!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Beth, just you? No kids, no people, no noise? Just you and a pile of books?

    Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Can't you feel your stress level deflating as you imagine it?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Sleeping in rocks, Ms. Hellion :-D I'm glad you got a little rest!!

Your fantasy rocks, too! I love the 2 hour massage and the fondue courses. And hey, Ryan Reynolds? Mmm Mmm good!!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Oh Wow, Cassondra! Not only a fantasy spa day, but a fantasy spa day at a fantasy spa!!

    Talk about awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yikes, Jo!! Yes, I'm losing weeks *g* but I meant to say the first month, not the first week. Thank you!!! I always need editing, darnit.

That all- alone idea is great. Nothing like some thinking and relaxing time on the high seas!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Tawny said...
Would you like the third for massage, or to cook for you? Or both ;-)

Oh Tawny, you know me well.... both please, I am all about multi-tasking.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Multi tasking is always a good thing!! Especially when it comes to sexy men :-D

    ReplyDelete
  60. So far, no one is complaining of my monopolizing Hugh Jackman? Alright! Four hottie in speedos giving me a massage under the palm trees! Woohoo! or would that be: Aaahhhhh......

Although I'd love to eat locally caught (in Hawaii) fish, I think I'd rather have the veggies come from California. And since this is a fantasy, why not? Fish from HI and veggies from CA.

(had bad experiences with veggie dishes in HI in the past)

    ReplyDelete
  61. Sheree, I laid claim to Johnny Depp in the blog itself so I could keep him all to myself, fantasy speaking, of course. :-D Why shouldn't you do the same with Hugh?!

Ohhhh, if we're going to bring vegetables into this (and yes, Cali veggies do rock!), I would love some fat, fresh, ripe strawberries, too! Wouldn't that be delish?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Thanks Helen and Tawny, too, for saying you're looking forward to my next book. It's going to be a little bit longer between books this year but hopefully it's worth the wait:)

Tawny, I think I need you as my guru. You know, with all that spare time you have?
