Something Scandalous Party

by Christie Kelley

Break out the margaritas, it’s party time in the lair! I’m celebrating the release of SOMETHING SCANDALOUS, which officially comes out tomorrow!!

So, sit back and have some fun with me while we talk about scandalous things.

I’ve brought along some of my heroines from past and future books. Avis, the heroine of EVERY NIGHT I’M YOURS looked around the lair and noticed the writing cave. Needless to say, she ran off to finish her latest book.

Jennette, my heroine from EVERY TIME WE KISS is already having one of the cabana boys mix her a margarita. Someone needs to keep an eye on her for me. She tends to over indulge when I’m not watching her.

I just found Elizabeth, my current heroine from SOMETHING SCANDALOUS. She is attempting to create order out of chaos by organizing the cabana boys and the massages given by Sven. Someone hand her a drink and tell her to sit back and relax. It’s her day!

Where is Victoria? She’s my heroine from my October release, SCANDAL OF THE SEASON. Oh, there she is, sitting over by the wall and looking uncomfortable. Maybe she needs a drink. But only one for her, she’s a lightweight.

And for anyone who wants their future read, Sophie has already set up a table not too far from the bar. Sophie is my matchmaker for anyone who hasn’t read my books. She is matching all her friends with their true love. Her book may be titled HER PERFECT MATCH (or may not be, I don’t know yet) but her story will be out in June 2011.

Now that we’re all acquainted, sit back and have some fun. I started my Spinster Club series six years ago. It started when I was in the middle of another book and had two secondary characters, Avis and Banning, who wanted to take over the story. When I was writing the other book, my goal was not to write a continuing series or take any of the secondary characters and write a book for them. Well, Avis and Banning were having none of that. They wouldn’t let me sleep at night and then four other women were invading my dreams, too. Suddenly, I had the idea of writing about these five women who had no desire to marry. The only problem with that was one of the women was matching them with their true loves.

Now six years later, I just finished writing my last book in the series. It was a fun time, but I’m ready to move on and let them have their happy ever afters.

But now, let’s hear more about SOMETHING SCANDALOUS.

Raised as the youngest daughter of the Duke of Kendal, Elizabeth learns a devastating truth on his deathbed: he wasn’t her father at all. And because the Duke had no sons, his title and fortune must go to his only male heir: a distant cousin who left England for America long ago. Anticipating the man’s imminent occupation of her home, Elizabeth anxiously searches for her mother’s diary, and the secret of her paternity…

Arriving in London with his seven siblings, William Atherton intends to sell everything and return to his beloved Virginia farm, and his fiancée, as quickly as possible. But as Elizabeth shows William an England he never knew, and graciously introduces his siblings to London society, it becomes clear the two are meant for each other. Soon, Elizabeth finds herself determined to seduce the man who can save not only her family name, but her heart…

Now my heroines are here but where are my heroes? If you want to help me look for them that would be great! Other than Elizabeth’s hero, Will, all the men have been seen in one of my books. So where are they? Any guesses on who Victoria and Sophie will end up with?

I’m giving away a copy of SOMETHING SCANDALOUS to two lucky people today. I’ll choose two random names from the comments. So talk to me! If you haven’t read my books and don’t have a clue about my heroes, that’s okay. Tell me what you’re drinking and if Sven’s coming over for a massage.

Mostly, HAVE FUN!

Oh my gosh - ok, so I told myself I was done with the GR, but I HAD to comment first on this post!
Christie! Congratulations on your upcoming release! Tomorrow can't get here soon enough!
Now, I have a confession to make :X I LOVED Every Night I'm Yours - and I bought Every Time We Kiss as well... :\ but I've been in the biggest reading slump of my life, and haven't read it yet. I don't know that I read 100 books in 2009, and usually I read 300 or more in a year. (More, but... now it's just making me sadder how little I'm reading.)

I am super excited about Something Scandalous though :D As for the upcoming heroes >.< I wish I could think but my mind is blanking. Can I blame the fact that it's after midnight here?

But yay party and heroines and drinks and Sven and cabana boys and most importantly your BOOK!
Also my birthday is in June - yes I did see you have a release slated for then, 2011. ;) Oh and tomorrow is the 6th which is one of my favorite numbers... it's meant to be, right!? :P

limecello said...

Ok - and whatever. Christie - you've made a sale with this party ;) I just went to amazon and bought Something Scandalous - so no need to put my name in the drawing.

(But you know I'm always open for ARCs - so would love for you to keep me in mind. I'm pushy with books, and I love tantalizing people with snippets and bragging rights. And authors love more promo, right!? *angelface* Heh. Looks like I'm learning some tricks from the GR.)

Jeanne (AKA The Duchesse) said...

Hey! Sign me up for Sven as soon as I can get a spot on the list...my shoulders are a wreck. Grins.

LIME! Congrats!

Christie, m'love, you have done us PROUD!! And Welcome, ladies of the Spinster Club. You have kept the Lair hopping with your doings these last couple of years. I know you'll make your curtseys here for a while yet, but just to say it - THANKS!

WOOHOO on the latest book, Christie! Gotta say I'm so tired at the moment, I can only find the hero that's snoring in my bed. Grins. Easy enough to follow that sound...

I'll look forward to popping back in tomorrow and reading everyone's guesses.

Lime, had to laugh at your *angelface* Snork. You ARE learning too many tricks from the GR! Run him ragged today, woudl you? I just know he ate too much easter candy, the shameless bird.

Hey, where's my margarita? All those heroines have hogged the cabana boys! Oy, Avis, unhand Sven! He's meant to be mixing me a cocktail!

Christie, huge congratulations on the release of SOMETHING SCANDALOUS! Sounds absolutely delicious (just like this margarita I finally managed to squeeze out of the boys - they're so easily distracted by new talent!).

Hi Christie, congrats on your new release!

I am sorry to say I may have to go see Sophie for her perfect match because I have not read your books yet and now I see what I have been missing! Your new book sound fantastic and I would love to read it!

I will be happy to join in on some Margaretta's and get in on the party! I am sure Sophie will find The Perfect Match just for me and I can't wait! I am ready to pull an all nighter, bring on the drinks and heros!

Just wanted to say a huge congratulations, Christie!! I'm a little spacy, having just gotten back from a family trip (first time for the kids skiing, and poor mom and dad are sore! Plus, we're beginners ourselves, and after just a day, our kids outski us!)

Have fun with the GR, Limecello!

Christie

I am jumping up and down as much as I can after being at a picnic today with the family so a nice drink and a massage would be wonderful.

I am soo looking forward to this book and Elizabeth's story and my mind is blank at the moment and my sister has my copies of your other books and loves them as much as I do. I think Somerton must end up with Victoria or Sophie I am saying Sophie and I want my fortune told by Sophie she is so lovely actually they all are I truly have loved their adventures and look forward to the next ones.
If my sister didn't have the books I would be more intuned with the other men in the stories LOL.

Huge congrats Christie from myself and my sister.

Have Fun

Congratulations! Can's wait to get my hands on Something Scandalous! I'm outta here for the day job but would love a drink later this afternoon (someone keep Sven's hands warm for me, ok? My shoulders will need some attention.)

Enjoy the party, Christie! :)

Congratulations on the release of Something Scandalous! I loved this book! Elizabeth and Will were such a terrific couple and it was wonderful catching up with Jennette and her hero, Matthew (Earl of Blackburn) from Every Time We Kiss and Avis and her hero, Banning (Earl of Selby) from Every Night I'm Yours. Of course, I always enjoy Lord Somerton, who I very much hope will be the hero of your next book!

Now where did you say Sven was? I really need to get in line for one of those delicious massages. All this reading is taking a toll on my poor body. Oh, you have margaritas too? Why yes, I'd love one. You do know how to throw the best parties in the lair!

pjpuppymom said...

Limecello, congrats on nabbing the GR. Hope you enjoy Something Scandalous. I think it will be an excellent slump cure!

Christie Kelley said...

limecello, congrats on the GR!

300 books in a year! Holy cow! That's a lot of books. Even 100 books sounds like a lot to me and that was your slump? I'm off to a better start this year and have already read 15 books. Okay, 8 of those were for the RITA contest but I did read them so they count.

Sorry to say, I'm out of ARC, limecello. They only gave me 14 and all but one went to reviewers. The other one I gave away on my website back in Feb.

Thanks for buying a copy!

Christie Kelley said...

Jeanne, you're a better woman than I staying up so late. I just can't do it. Thanks!

Christie Kelley said...

Thanks, Minna!

pjpuppymom said...

Christie, congratulations on the release of Something Scandalous! As you know, I loved this book! Elizabeth and Will make a terrific couple and it was great catching up with Jennette and her hero, Matthew (Earl of Blackburn) and Avis and her hero, Banning (Earl of Selby). Of course, it's always fun when Lord Somerton is around. I'm counting the days until his book hits the stands - especially after that delicious teaser in the epilogue of Something Scandalous!

Now where did you say Sven was? After all that reading I sure do need a good massage. Oh! You have margaritas! Why yes, I'd love one. Y'all throw the best parties in the lair!

Christie Kelley said...

Enjoy that margarita, Anna! I guess Avis decided she needed a little relaxation before writing the next chapter. Poor dear has to write with those quills and ink. I suppose I should show her the laptop.

Christie Kelley said...

Hi Virginia, glad you could make it. Sit back and don't overdo on those margaritas. Sven makes them a little strong. Better get in that line for Sophie. She's doing quite a business this morning.

Christie Kelley said...

Hi Pat, I'm sipping my coffee. I have to run and show a house and get signatures on a contract this morning. So I'll definitely be in the mood for a margarita around noon.

Christie Kelley said...

flchen, we took the kids snowboarding for the first time in February. It was our first time too. I can't remember the last time I was that sore. I quickly decided snowboarding was not for me. Next time, I skiing.

You'd better get in line for a massage. Sven will take care of those sore muscles.

Christie Kelley said...

Back to bed with you, Mariska! We'll send a cabana boy to you with something yummy and non-alcoholic. Stay well!

Christie Kelley said...

Thanks, Tawny! Watch out, Sven's a little heavy-handed with the tequila today.

Christie Kelley said...

Thanks, Helen! I'll give you a little teaser, you'll find out in the epilogue if Sophie will get Somerton or not. Just don't ask PJ since she's already read it for the Romance Dish.

Christie Kelley said...

Blodeuedd, I'll send Sven right over to you. Thanks for stopping by!

Christie Kelley said...

Hi Gillian, don't worry we'll have a drink waiting for you and Sven will be all warmed up. :)

Thanks for stopping in before work.

Christie Kelley said...

Thank you again for you lovely review, PJ. I'm so glad you enjoyed Something Scandalous. Sven's on his way down to you with a drink and a massage so enjoy!

Christie Kelley said...

Unfortunately, the day job is kicking in this morning. I have to go show a house and get signatures on a contract. So I probably won't be around until noon. But keep the party going without me! I expect a margarita when I return.

pjpuppymom said...

Okay, that's weird. My long post showed up...then disappeared...so I posted another one...then the first one showed up again. Gremlins in the lair this Monday morning?

Laney4 said...

Thanks for sharing tidbits about some of your books. Great hooks!

I haven't read your books yet, but I hope to do so soon.

So ... I drink a lot of water and white milk. I used to be a Pepsi-o-holic but gave up pop last August in my quest to lose weight and improve my dietary choices. I rarely drink alcohol, but when I drank more in January than I had in the previous decade (and that was less than 10 drinks), I gained back some weight, so now alcohol is off my list too.

As for Sven, well ... I prefer to think of George Clooney giving me my well-deserved massage. With his rumbling voice soothing me mentally and his warm hands soothing me physically, a girl couldn't ask for more. Well ... I guess a girl could, but I'll hold off on that until another day, LOL!

Deb said...

Christie, congrats on the release of SS! Woo hoo!

Please send Sven. After having a sleepover with Shary on the living room floor, my back really needs a massage this morning. Can you hear all that creaking and my groaning? Really, I think my need is greater than Jeanne's this morning. (Snork)

What a wonderful ride you've had with this series of books! Congrats, again!

CrystalGB said...

Congratulations on the release of Something Scandalous. Sounds amazing. I will have a Long Island iced tea. :)

Donna MacMeans said...

Christie - Just bopping in quickly to say congrats on the new release. I LOVE that cover! Isn't it fun how an idea about two characters can generate a whole community? Great series. Can't wait to see what comes up next.

Kirsten said...

Hey Christie, CONGRATULATIONS!! I think this is your best book yet, and I'm already a huge fan. Enjoy the party.

I'm off to the dungeons to work, but I'll pop back after the working day is done to have a margarita! :-)

Andrea said...

Congratulations on the release of Something Scandalous, Christie!! I will be stopping by my local B&N tomorrow to pick it up!

peggy said...

I have not read your books .I could use a good massage.

Jeanne (AKA The Duchesse) said...

Hey again Christie! I'm up from the depths of the dungeons to get a margarita.

Deb, did Sven get to you already? I worked quite late last night, so I staggered off to drop kids at their respective places - tough on Easter break week! urg! - before nabbing coffee and breakfast. NOW, I'm awake and ready to work. Which means I'd better have a bite of lunch before I start sipping on that margarita! ha!

Hey Anna, the Cabana Boy's margarita's are as heavy-handed on the spirits today as those we had at the airport! Whew! Demetrius, honey, go easy! Grins. (I think he's hoping we'll get loopy enough for shield sledding later!)

Okay, back to the grindstone. I'm sharpening some things. Snork. Then I'm doing a last read through of Deadly Little Lies, my 2011 release, before pushing SEND to pop it off to Kensington. Arrrgh! The book that wouldn't is is about to actually...well...END! Yippeeee!

Now THAT deserves a Margarita!

Hope the signings and showings went well Christie!

Jeanne (AKA The Duchesse) said...

Hey Mariska! Congrats! Now hie thee back to your bed. We'll send a cabana boy with something yummy and stomach-soothing for you to party with. Grins.

Jeanne (AKA The Duchesse) said...

PJ, here are always gremlins in the Lair. We think they're attracted to the dragon. :> Or maybe the cabana boys? Anyway, no worries. We'd rather hear from you twice than not at all!

I'm with you on Somerton. Yummy.

Jeanne (AKA The Duchesse) said...

Hey Kirsten, let's take a tray of these yummy treats back down to the dungeon. If we can get them past Kate, who's on deadline, we'll have snacks for the afternoon!

(Snork, let's see if Kate surfaces and catches that....)

Jeanne (AKA The Duchesse) said...

One last thing...I want to hear more about the snowboarding thing, Christie. I SO want to learn to do this. I can ski quite competently, but I REALLY want to learn to snowboard!

Congrats Christie! I can't wait to ready SOMETHING SCANDALOUS!!

Um, do ya think Sophie could help me out in finding my perfect match?

Christie Kelley said...

Hey, Laney, I'll see what I can do about getting George Clooney down here for you.

Jeanne (AKA The Duchesse) said...

Ohhhh, Liam! Youuuuhoooo! Over here, you handsome thing. Isn't that accent just divine?

Drew, thanks for bringing Liam along, that was so...thoughtful of you! Grins.

Now, how about you come with me down to the writer's caves...

Christie Kelley said...

Oh, Deb, Sven is on his way. I hate sleeping on the floor. My body is just not made for it any more.

Thanks for stopping in!

Christie Kelley said...

Hi Crystal, I'll have a cabana boy bring you the Long Island ice tea right away.

Now that I'm back from the day job, I could really use a margarita!

Christie Kelley said...

Hi Donna, you're not alone. I've gotten so many comments about this cover. I'm hoping that translates to sales too.

I did just get my coverflats for Scandal of the Season but I didn't get the jpg yet. Everyone will have to wait until my regular post on the 17th.

Christie Kelley said...

Hi Kristen, we'll have a margarita waiting for your return. Have a good day at work!

Christie Kelley said...

Thanks, Andrea! Let me know if you find it. I only just received my author copies today. They usually are here 2 weeks before the release, so I'm hoping the bookstores received them.

Keira Soleore said...

Hooray, I get to start drinking Margaritas mid-day Monday. But what a deserved occasion to break my cardinal rule of no alcohol before the sun sets. Many, many, many congratulations, Christie!!

Christie Kelley said...

Jeanne, I felt the same way about my last book. It did finally end but I still have it out with one more CP. Hopefully, I'll be sending it out by Friday.

Christie Kelley said...

Jeanne, I really hated snowboarding. The fact that I couldn't move my legs was driving me crazy! Everyone I talked to said it is much harder to learn than skiing.

Christie Kelley said...

Hi Avery! Thanks so much!

Christie Kelley said...

Thanks, Jo!!

Christie Kelley said...

Joanie, tell Demetrius to get off Bejeweled and help the cabana boys deliver drinks.

And yes, Sophie can find you your perfect match. But the line for her table is getting long!

Christie Kelley said...

Karyn, thanks for bringing another man to the party. The more the merrier! And an Irishman at that...woohoo!

Glad you have that drooling problem under control now. :)

Christie Kelley said...

Jeanne! You bring Liam back up here right now!

Christie Kelley said...

Keira, I posted about the party and the margaritas on my Facebook page and my niece was busting me about drinking at 8am. (6am her time). I just reminded her what my mother always said..."it's 5pm somewhere"

Christie Kelley said...

ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

I just received my author copies while I was out at work! Sooooo, I might be tempted to give away a 3rd copy of SOMETHING SCANDALOUS today. And I might even let the banditas participate in this one!

Okay, no mights about it. I will give away a 3rd copy!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey Christie!!! Congrats on the new release! Can't wait to read this one!!

AS for what I'm drinking? I'm thinking a Belleni (I can drink them not necessarily spell them!) So I'll just dig down here behind the bar...*shoving bottles of vodka and rum and gin out of the way*....oooooo Peach schnopps, some peach champagne...*shoving both bottles up onto the counter*...Oh hey, Sven! *he's giving me a very cross look*...Want to whip me up a Belleni?

Geesh, who knew a Swede could get so possessive about the order of his bar?

Pat Cochran said...

Hi, Christie, I'm back to join the
party! I think I'd best have some
of those party treats before I have
a margarita, especially if the boys
are being as heavy on the tequila
as I heard. I don't want to land on

enjoy one of Sven's super special massages!

Hello everyone, you are all looking

Sven! I need a Bellini. If I have to return Liam, I might as well drink.
