Holiday Bash at Fire Station Five

interview with Suz

Okay ladies, everyone got their Santa hats and candy canes? Today, my very good friend, Jo Davis and I are taking you on a little field trip.

We've got a bus right outside the Lair to take us over to the holiday party at Fire Station Five. That's right, the A shift team will be waiting with big smiles to serve us cookies, egg nog, and hot cider as we mingle! And if we've been really good this year, they just might play Santa and hand out a few gifts for us to take home! (Sorry, ladies, you can't wrap a firefighter in a big red bow and take him with you.) Step this way, single file now.

What's that? No, Sven, I don't think we need you, Paolo, the hockey hunks or Gladiators to tag along as bodyguards? No, The Goddess Sangria and Ms. Davis will not get "mauled by the hunky firefighters"?wellll? you do have a point?.the firefighters might get mauled by some of our feistier Banditas and Bandita buddies, (yes, I'll keep a watch on Tawny, Jeanne, Kate and AC), but that's just a chance we'll have to take?Oh, okay, we'll let Demetrius drive the bus, but only if he goes unarmed.

**Geesh, the male egos around here!**

Everyone in their seat? While we make the trip over there, let's quiet down and talk to Jo about her newest release.

Suz: Okay, so for the final installment of your Station Five Firefighters, RIDE THE FIRE, we get to see the story of Captain Sean Tanner, Jo. He's been an overriding character throughout the series. Can you tell us how you came up with his character and why you let his story build throughout?

Jo: Sean, as well as the other guys, introduced themselves to me when I first started the series. When I began writing chapter 1 of TRIAL BY FIRE, Sean came to life for me in a big way. I knew immediately what had happened to this man, that he'd tragically lost his wife and two children in a car wreck-though I didn't know why this had happened to him. Was there a sinister reason, or was it really just a senseless accident? I wasn't sure. I did know that Sean's book would be the one my readers were waiting for, and so was I.

It wasn't until I wrote the end of LINE OF FIRE (Tommy Skyler's story) and the very last scene began to flow from my fingertips (our villain Jesse Rose is coming to town and makes phone call that makes the reader sit up and take notice!) that I said, "Oh my God, I know what happened to Sean's family!!" But Sean doesn't know it yet, and oh, this man has got to pull himself out of the gutter and take charge of his life again if he's going to make Jesse pay and win the woman he loves.

As an aside, I want to point out that I wrote "Sean and Jesse's story" at the beginning of each chapter, beginning when they graduated from high school, then joined the Marines, and continued through the years to show what happened between them and why Sean's best friend turned against him. I felt the reader deserved to know what happened in "real time" without it being relegated to backstory.

Suz: Eve has had a flame for her captain for quite sometime. How has she had to deal with his pain and reemergence in RIDE THE FIRE? How has this affected the team's dynamics?

Jo: Eve and Sean have always had a relationship of mutual trust and respect. For Eve's part, that trust and respect took several major hits throughout the series as Sean slid deeper into alcoholism and depression, and he began to make mistakes on the job. She's torn between loyalty to the strong leader and friend he used to be and disappointment and sadness because of the wreck he's become. Sean's biggest mistake cost a good firefighter his career in the field, and now he's got to win back not only Eve's trust, but the confidence of the entire department.

In addition, Eve has been in love with Sean for years, and their teammates have started to pick up on the tension between them. The guys love both Sean and Eve, but none of them are exactly thrilled with the man/woman attraction going on with their two friends. They're worried, and rightly so. All of this makes for a flammable cocktail that's going to ignite sooner or later?

Suz: You've become very intimate with each of the firefighters and their significant others. Was there one story that was harder to write than the others?

Jo: Of all the series, Julian Salvatore's story HIDDEN FIRE was an absolute bitch to write. And I say that with love. I guess it stands to reason that the most difficult man on the team to understand would pose the biggest challenge to put on paper. The misunderstood bad boy jerk with the heart of gold is fun to read, but really tough to pull off. And then there's his lady love, sleek, sexy attorney Grace McKenna, who doesn't want to fall for a man she has to "fix". Who can blame her?

I'm happy to say that my readers totally "got" Julian, loved him to death, and he remains one of their favorite heroes to date, second only to Lieutenant Howard "Six-Pack" Paxton. I'm not sure anyone will ever top Howard, but who knows?

Suz: Any chance we'll get to see more sexy firefighters again? Any new guys pop up here that you might like to give a HEA?

Jo: This is a question I get frequently in readers' emails and in talking with folks. (Ignores the "duh"-you-get-it-from-me-too look Suz is giving her.) I'd love to write stories for A-shift's newbie, Clay Montana, as well as for B-shift hottie John "Val" Valentine. And I get a lot of requests for Detective Shane Ford to get a story, too! I don't have these in the works yet because my publisher wanted to take me in a new direction, but I never say "never"!

Suz: What are you working on for 2011? I hear there are two new series in the works!

Jo: You heard right! This is the "new direction" I mentioned before. I'm working on two new paranormal series that will debut in 2011. For those of you who enjoy your paranormal reading with a liberal splash of the erotic, I've started writing my new series, LORDS OF PLEASURE. This series is contemporary vampire erotic romance about four brothers who are sexy vampire lords and run an adult resort in New Orleans where anything goes. Yum! The first book, TEMPATION AT TWILIGHT, is about Soren Fontaine, our vampire lord who never recovered from losing his true mate. He's willing to do anything to have her back in this life, and he makes a desperate, unfortunate bargain with a voodoo priestess in order to make it happen. Now he's trapped in erotic bonds of his own creation, forced to hide his love from his beautiful mate, the one woman he can never truly have? TEMPTATION AT TWILIGHT is scheduled for release from NAL Heat in November 2011!

The other series that will debut in 2011-and I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself!!-is called ALPHA PACK and features a of team of special ops heroes who are shifters with Psy abilities, and use their powers to track the world's most dangerous predators. Each of our heroes will find his mate, and each will be hotter and more dangerous than the last. I'm pleased to announce that the first book of the series, PRIMAL LAW by my alter-ego J.D. Tyler, featuring wolf shifter hero Jaxon Law, is finished and is set for release from Signet Eclipse in August 2011! This promises to be a sexy, action-packed series filled with sizzling shifter heroes (wolves, big cats, etc.) that you won't want to miss. My new website, www.JDTyler.com will be live in 2011 as well. Keep an eye out on my Jo Davis website, www.JoDavis.net, for more news.

Suz: That sounds so exciting! I know our readers can hardly wait. Well, here we are at Station Five! Everyone, go right in through the open bay and in through that side door where the guys have the party waiting. Hey, there's Sean waving us inside! God, what a sexy hunk of a man. Here we go, grab some goodies (The goodies on the tables, ladies! Hands off the men!) and let's talk to Sean and some of the others about what's been going on lately.

Jo: Hi, Sean! Thanks for inviting us to share in the holiday cheer!

Sean (with a sexy smile): You're very welcome. It's great to have you lovely ladies here.

Jo: I see that every shift has their stockings and menorahs hung on the wall with everyone's names on them. How cool. We've been wondering, is there something special on your Christmas wish list this year?

Sean: Yeah, the stockings are a tradition we started a few years ago. The guys really like hanging them up. What's on my list? Hmm. I think I'd like a pair of new saddles for when Eve and I go riding. But that would be a gift for both of us, not just me.

Suz: Nothing wrong with that! It's nice when couples buy something they can use together.

Eve (grinning at her hubby-to-be): Aww, what a great idea, honey. Guess I can take back what I already got you.

Sean (teasing): Hey, don't be hasty. Who says we only get one gift? (then to Howard "Six-Pack" Paxton): Hey, Six-Pack!

Howard (stuffing a cookie into his mouth and surrounded by gawking women): What? I'm busy here, man.

Sean: What's on your Christmas list? Inquiring minds want to know.

Howard (not even hesitating): I want a vintage Pez dispenser. Something rare and collectible.

Sean (rolling his eyes): Figures. He's got a weird Pez fixation.

Julian Salvatore (chiming in): I want a new black leather jacket.

Zack Knight: Jeez, you are so predictable. Of course you'd want something slick to wear so you can admire yourself in the mirror.

Julian (curling his lip): Well, what do you want, geek? A new set of pens and a calculator?

Zack: I'll have you know that I've asked Santa for a rare first edition fiction book. Something in mystery, thriller, sci fi or whatever.

Tommy Skyler (teasing sarcastically): You don't want much, huh? Me, I'm keeping it simple. I don't want anything special, but I'm going to surprise Shea by taking her to New York for New Year's Eve! We're gonna party `til the sun comes up, then go back to our hotel where I'll-

Suz: Whoa, we probably can guess how that scene ends! Anyway, thank you all so much for having us here and making us feel so welcome.

Sean: It's our pleasure. And as a special thanks, we have a gift for each of you ladies. They're holiday grab bags we put together. Some of them have gift cards, some have bath gel and lotion, and a few have Jo's autographed books in them.

Suz: Thanks so much! I know our ladies will be thrilled.

Now, let's just mingle and enjoy the rest of our visit, shall we? So many firemen, so little time?

So Banitas and Bandit Buddies, What are you hoping Santa will bring you this year? Or, what is the most memorable holiday romance you've ever read that leaves a tear in your eye and a smile in your heart? AND AS A SPECIAL BONUS, tell Jo which Fire Station Five book has been your favorite and why for a chance to win one of the following gifts, courtesy of Jo and the guys of A-shift: An Amazon online gift card, Bath and Body Works products, or a set of all five Station Five books, autographed! There will be three winners, one for each gift listed. Good luck!

I'm hoping for of course, more books! Perhaps Santa would oblige with Jo's latest?? :)

The top of my Christmas list is a new vacuum cleaner. Yes, it's not exciting, but I need one. I'd love to win a set of the Fire Station Five books, but I haven't read them yet so I don't have a favorite. I'll do some major sucking up here and say I'm sure if I had read them it would be too hard to choose one because I'd like them all.

Great visit to the firehouse, Suz and Jo! It's a treat to visit with the gang!

I love holiday romances, and admit that I do read them year round ;) One favorite from the keeper shelf is Jane Blackwood's Maybe This Christmas from the Jingle All the Way anthology--it's a second-chance story, and it is such a good one! :) And naturally I'm looking forward to Tawny's latest! ;)

I have a little catching up to do with the Station Five crew, but so far my favorite is Under Fire--I love those quieter heroes who find they can survive a blazing inferno just fine, thank you! I like that whole seeing another side to a character, too, where someone who starts out somewhat one way gets a chance to reveal some different facets as the story unfolds.

And hellooo, Sean, Tommy, Zack, Julian, Howard, Eve, and all! Any exciting holiday plans, besides Tommy's surprise trip? :)

Jo, very exciting to hear about your two new upcoming series!! Are these open ended, or do you have a number heroes/books in mind for each series?

Sounds like some new books to add to my growing list.... hmmm. I have been stuck on Regency Romance for a while. How you describe these Fire Station Five books though makes me think I need to move into a more contemporary era!

I've been reading books for so long now but to be honest this is the first time I came across the FIRE STATION book series.

I'd love to read the set, even if I don't win it here.
My wish...of course more books!

Awesome Holiday Bash. Thanks for the invite.

I am as usual hoping for some great new reading material this year.

Sadly I cant pick a favorite yet as I have not have the chance to read the books. They are on my wishlist, so hopefully soon. Until then I just cant pick.

This is really my first year looking for holiday romances to read. I only read one last year, Heather Graham's, which I really enjoyed. I have a couple now for this year on the shelf just waiting until its a bit closer to start.

Hi Jo,
I can't choose a favorite, but my favorite character is Shane. I know he's not a firefighter, but he just won't let me forget him. Will he be making an appearance in Ride the Fire? Can't wait for your paranormal series. I would like Santa to bring me an iPad or maybe a MacBook Pro.

Hi! I'm hoping for a Kindle but my car's needs may outweigh my wants. Oh well.

I'm partial to "Hidden Fire" due to the cover model, Paul Marron. It's on my TBB list so I would love to win it instead.

Thank you Jo and Suz

What a gift visitng some of my favourite heros at their station I am still drooling. I have absolutley loved all of the firefighters and am soo looking forward to Sean and Eve's story. As I have said I have loved them all but I think Zack is my favourite and I don't know why I just fell for him a little bit more than the others but of course I haven't read Sean's story yet LOL.

I of course would love more books for Chrissy and I would also love a new E Book reader although I may wait for that till my birthday in April.

I have read a lot of Christmas stories over the years and off hand I can't think of the names of them but I do have a few new ones that I have bought over the last couple of weeks that I am looking forward to reading.

Jo congrats on the new release and might I add the new books due out next year sound awesome I will be getting those when they are released.

Have Fun

Eventually !! lol
Not that I'm complaining but it feels like FOREVER since I'm waiting to read this story. Right from Trial By Fire I found Sean and Eve to be the most intriguing characters. All this pain mixed with unrequited love/lust promise to be very very interesting. I seriously can't wait to read it. Tommy's story was great but even reading it I was focused on Sean and Eve.

Congrats on your release !!!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey Fedora! Congrats on being fist today! I think Santa should be delivering a lot of Jo's latest firefighter book. It would make a fantastic Christmas gift!!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey Linda!

You must need a vacuum cleaner if you're asking Santa for it!
I'd love to win a set of the Fire Station Five books, but I haven't read them yet so I don't have a favorite. I'll do some major sucking up here and say I'm sure if I had read them it would be too hard to choose one because I'd like them all.

You suck up good, girl!

Fedora, I have a daughter who buys one Holiday romance a year, usually in late October or early November, and reads it just to put herself in the holiday mood.

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey, Slush!

How you describe these Fire Station Five books though makes me think I need to move into a more contemporary era!

Jo's firefighters are just the guys you need to drag you into the contemporary world of romance! They're yummy and sooooooooo male!!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey, Nas Deen!

If you love honest to goodness heroes, you'll love Jo's Station Five series! These are the guys who will run into a burning building and love their women with the same passion!

Trial By Fire is the first in the series if you want to start with it!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey DonnaS!

You have a great wishlist! Do what my daughter does, send the list, with pictures of the covers on it to your family members. Then they'll know you really want the books with the hunky firefighters on the front!

Me? I'd love to read about Clay Montana the newest firefighter...Hint...Hint...JO!!!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

AC!!! I'm afraid when Suz said, "holiday gift bags" Tawny and I got a wee bit grabby. Julian and Tommy may never be the same! Just sayin...

Back away from the hunks or I'll have to turn the firehose on you two!

*Looks at Julian and Tommy*

Okay, I'll turn it on all four of you!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey Jane!

I can't choose a favorite, but my favorite character is Shane. I know he's not a firefighter, but he just won't let me forget him.

Psst...look behind the tree, Jane, I think I see a man in a blue uniform back there...could it be?

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey Minna!

Thanks for the Youtube presents! Love them!!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey Barb!

Even though this is Sean's book, our Jo isn't quite finished torturing him.

Sigh.

She LOVES to torture her men!! And they seem to love her the more for it. Did you see how their eyes lit up when she walked in?

Sigh.

Wish they'd look like that for me!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey, Sheree!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

HI JO,

One of my favorite holiday romances is Curtiss Matloch's Miracle on I -40. The story showcases the relationship which develops between a single, waitress, mom and her two children who hitch a ride with a reluctant, Scrooge like truck driver as they go to visit her estranged family for the Christmas Holidays.

I enjoyed Under the Fire with inexperienced Zach Knight. I haven't read the other 4 books in this series. I'd be thrilled to win the whole series!

I recently enjoyed your book I Spy a Naughty Game.

I love to get gift cards so I can buy books through out the year!

Jo Davis said...

Good morning everyone! Suz and Banditas, thank you so much for having me back today! I always enjoy stopping by to chat. :)

Hi Suz! Ok first I have to admit I havent read any of your books, YET! I love that some of my favorite authors(Tawny) have introduced me to new wonderful authors to read and fall in love with. From reading the descriptions of your Fire Station series I think they are books I would love and have now been added to my ever growing books to get list. I also think your Lords Of Pleasure series sounds awesome!

As for what I want for Christmas this year its pretty basic, books, music and cake decorating supplies. My three favorite things.

Have a wonderful day and a wonderful Holiday Season!

alinaduffer said...

I meant to say Hi Suz and Jo, lol! Thats what I get for posting before I read it over, lol! Have a great day ladies!

Jo Davis said...

Hi flchn1!
Perhaps Santa will have some reading material in his bag for you! :)

I'm so glad you loved Zack's story. I adore Beta heroes who have to find their inner strength, both reading and writing about them.

To answer your question, the erotic vampire series has a definite end (at least right now, in my mind, but that could change!). However, ALPHA PACK, my shifter series will be mass market paranormal romance and could go on indefinitely, and it could spur offshoots for other series, too! Very exciting stuff for me! :)

Jo Davis said...

Hi Linda,

I hope Santa brings your vacuum. Me, I never ask for something that would require me to do housework! :)

Should you read the station five series, I hope you enjoy it! Howard is still my favorite, though I love all my boys.

Jo Davis said...

Hi Slush,
I hope you enjoy the series should you decide to give it a try!

I read all sorts of genres just for something different every once in a while. As long as it's a great story, it doesn't matter to me what genre it is. :)

Jo Davis said...

Hi Nas Dean,

We can never have enough books! My family knows to make sure I have a book store gift card in my stocking or I'll be upset. :)

I hope you enjoy the station five series if you give it a try!

Jo Davis said...

Hi Donnas,

Since this is your first year looking for a holiday romance to read, let me recommend Silver Bells by Luanne Rice. It's wonderful, touching story that I've read more than once. It's not just a romance per se, but I think anyone would enjoy it.

Another is A Highlander for Christmas by Sandy Blair. A wondeful time-travel romance where the hunky Scot ends up being pulled forward in time and getting into all sorts of trouble. :)

Hope you find lots of great books to read!

Kathy Ivan said...

Good morning Suz and Jo,

Great interview, always a treat to hear from the Station Five guys. I love them all, but I always turn back to "Six Pack" when I need my fire station fix.

Can't wait for the next book, only a few more days. WooHoo!!!

And I'm really, really, really looking forward to the new series next year, both of them sound absolutely terrific.

Congratulations and wishing you many sales. See you both on Saturday.

Kathy

I know where to find you, naughty girl... :)

Jo Davis said...

Hi Jane,

You're not alone with Shane being your favorite! I get lots of emails asking for his story, and I hope someday I can write it.

Shane does have a part in Ride The Fire, though it's not as big in my opinion as in the previous book.

Thanks, I can't wait for readers' reactions to the new series! And I hope Santa brings your iPad! :)

HI Barb!
Hey, what is Fedora doing over there? This is a PG-13 blog, girlfriend!

I'm so happy you've enjoyed the firefighter series! I can't wait to get feedback on Sean's story from readers. I put my heart and soul into his story, as I do all of them--but this one was special. There's one scene I wrote while actually sobbing at my computer. You'll know which one when you get there!

Hope you enjoy the new paranormal series. :)

Jo Davis said...

Sheree,
I SO hope you get your new Kindle! I got one this fall and I LOVE, LOVE it!!! Of course I spend way too much $ downloading books because it's so convenient to use, but oh well. :)

I never knew the model's names on any of my books. I'll have to look up Paul Marron so I can see what he looks like without his head cut off! LoL.

Hi Helen,

I hope you love Sean and Eve's story. Writing it was very emotional but so worth it!

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get the ebook reader you want! They're so addictive once you get going. :)

Thanks for the congrats on the new series. I'm really looking forward to getting these books out there and seeing how my readers like these new heroes!

I smuggled Zack into my stocking after the party, so that's probably why you didn't get him! :D

Thanks, it's always fabulous to be here!

Thanks for the congrats--I'm really pumped about both the new series. I've read paranormal forever, since way before it became an established sub-genre, and I'm thrilled to be able to write some of my own!

My family and I watch It's A Wonderful Life every year together! There's just something about George Bailey and Clarence that warms my heart, and I never get tired of that movie. Last year I watched the whole thing twice. :)

Jo Davis said...

Sean and Eve, congrats on your story finally hitting the shelves. I can't wait to read it!

I do love to visit with the men of Station Five. Strong, protective and always ready for a good time. What's not to love? *VBG*

It's so hard to choose favorites but, if forced, I'd pick Howard's Trial by Fire and Julian's Hidden Fire. The others all come in a very, very, very close second though. I promise!

Bookstore and Amazon gift cards are always high on my Santa wish list. :)

Love those book store and Amazon cards! I want to do lots of reading this holiday before I have to get hard back at writing!

CrystalGB said...

I would love to have an Ipod Touch this year. One of my favorite holiday romances is An Outlaw for Christmas by Lori Handeland.
Jo's books sound great. I love firefighter heroes. :)

Jo Davis said...

Fedora,
Put that rooster to work! He's been slacking, I think. Then send him to my house next. :)

On the vampire series, I have four books planned, one for each of the Fontaine brothers. The SHADO Agency series will be done in March with Michael Ross's story. I don't foresee any more books there, unless I write one for Agent Dean Osborne (Ozzie) but that's not on the horizon so far.

Thanks for the congrats!

Jo Davis said...

Hi Crystal,
I hope you get your Ipod touch! I don't have an mp3 player of any kind, but it might be fun to have one. Maybe I'd get more exercise by walking in my neighborhood if I had music to listen to.

Should you try the firefighter series, I hope you enjoy it! Nothing like a hot fireman to warm up a chilly winter day... :)

These books sound wonderful and would provide me with hours of pleasure. Books and treats are always lovely anytime of year but moreso now. great post today.

For xmas I would love gift cards for books, books and more books. I love all your books but Trial by Fire is my favorite. I ve read that one over and over!!!

Always books and love journals and note cards too. Your books are appealing in everyway. best of success.

I'm hoping everyone will be happy!

Great post! I haven't read this series yet so I'm thrilled I'll have some good reading to do this month.

Anna Sugden said...

Hi Jo! *waving* So great to have you back in the Lair and bringing those delish firemen too. Hot firemen and ice hockey hunks ... who could ask for anything more?!

I'm going to be really boring and hope that Santa brings me a contract *g*.

I have to admit, I've been saving up your firefighter books to read all in one go - one after the other. I did peek at the first one and knew I'd get way too frustrated to continue reading and then have to wait for the next instalment.

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey Jo! Sorry I had to step away. My granddaughter and I have been making cookies today. Chocolate Mint and M&M cookies.

Thought I'd add some to the firefighter's feast!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey Gillian!

Santa brought my dh a JOB yesterday! It's not permanent, but it's such a blessing and exactly what he was looking for, for now. Such a relief!

What a FANTASTIC present!! Uhm, maybe your hubby could put in a whisper to Santa for my dh?

catslady said...

I don't think I remember any of the questions after seeing your book covers - yum!!!! One thing I need is a new computer but since I know I'm not getting that, more RAM for my old one would be nice so I can see and read more, a lot faster lol.

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey Maureen!

I am hoping to get Borders gift cards so I can go book shopping after all the craziness is over.

I usually get a gift card, too! Love to shop the after Christmas sale at the bookstore!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey Laurie!

This sounds very fascinating. I might have to go look for it when I do my Christmas books shopping. (Everyone in my family gets a book for Christmas!)

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey Alinaduffer!

Welcome to the Lair! I figured you were talking to Jo about her books. Those hunky covers do distract us and make us do goofy things, don't they?

Cassondra said...

Hi Jo, Hi Suz!

For Christmas this year, I want my closets finished. *grin*

Yes, we're still working on this old house, and I want to be able to put stuff away and really, really clean. The way you cant' clean if there's stuff piled around.

As to the series, WOOOOOOOOT!!!! I can read it now!

Yes, I'm one of those who waits for the last book in the series before reading. I'm not good with waiting for the next story. It makes me bitchy. :0/

So which will be my favorite remains to be seen.

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey Kathy!

Always glad to see you pop into the Lair.

If y'all didn't know, Kathy has a romantic suspense ebook with Carina Press, title DESPERATE CHOICES! Give yourself a treat and read it. You'll love it!

See you Saturday, too!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey JoMama!

I'm a sucker for IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE and I love the story of how the film came into the public domain so we all get to watch it every season.

Exactly what happened? I didn't know there was a problem with it. I'd hate to not watch that every year.

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Jo: The last book in the SHADO Agency series, I SPY A DARK OBSESSION (thanks for the title, Suz!)

You're welcome! (I soooooooooo love this title!)

maria said...

Love them all, but Howard is my favorite.

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey Rusty Lori!

Sounds like fun at the fire station. This is the first field trip I've been on and like it. Go Jo!!

You know when Jo was starting this series, she actually visited a firestation and I got to go along as the side-kick-photographer. The guys got called out on a run while we were there, leaving us alone in the firestation. Uhm...Yeah...we did some snooping!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey PJ!

We do love us our firefighters, don't we?

When Jo and I and a few other friends were in Denver to visit our friend Alice, we got stuck in traffic right next to one of the big rig trucks! And OH MY, what nice scenery we had!!

Jo Davis said...

Hi Petite,
I totally agree! Nothing like books for the holidays!

Thanks for stopping by. :)

Jo Davis said...

Hi Chilosa,
Thanks so much! I'm glad you've enjoyed the series, especially Howard's story. :)

Gift cards for books are always great!

Jo Davis said...

But they do sound really good.

Jo Davis said...

Hi Anna!

A hot fireman and a cold night...indeed what more could one want?

But I do hope Santa brings that contract!! I'll do some celebrating for you when that happens. :)

I hope you enjoy the series! Have a great holiday!

Hello,

For Christmas, I have a Kindle on my list :-).

I'm have to say I'm a little sad to see the end of the Station Five firefighters (hopefully, more to come sometime down the line). It's tough to pick a favorite, but if I must, it would be Julian & Hidden Fire. It was fun to read his journey with the team and Grace.

Jo Davis said...

Hey Suz,
You and that pretty grandbaby better have saved me some of those mint cookies!! Yum!

Jo Davis said...

Hi Catslady,

Well, I'll wish for Santa to bring you a new computer anyway! You never know what can happen. :)

I hope you have a great holiday and thanks for stopping by!

Jo Davis said...

Hi Cassondra,

I hope you enjoy both the firefighters and the paranormal series! I hear you on waiting for the next book--I'm SO impatient when I'm loving a series and have to wait months!

Have a super holiday!

Jo Davis said...

Hi Maria,

Howard's my favorite, too! Have a wonderful holiday and thanks for stopping by!

Jo Davis said...

Hi Elaing,

Should you try the series, I hope you love it!

Books and more books is my idea of heaven! Hope Santa brings you lots. :)

Jo Davis said...

Hi Jennifer D,

Ooh, I'll say it again-- I LOVE LOVE my Kindle!! I spend way too much money, but I just can't seem to help myself. :) I hope you get one!

I'm sad to see the series end too, so maybe I'll write a couple more one of these days. Who knows? I'm so happy you loved Julian's story. That one was so hard for me, but I'm proud of how it turned out!

cheryl c said...

Oh yes, a "fire" book is the perfect answer to cold weather! I love to snuggle up with a hot romance, a blanket, and a cup of tea!

One of my very favorite holiday romances is Nora Roberts' FIRST IMPRESSIONS. I reread it every year. :-)

flchen1 said...

LOL! Will do, Jo! I had to leave the house for a few hours this morning to drive on a field trip, and I see the ol' rooster's been slacking off in my absence! I see a bunch of empties in the recycling bin and wrappers in the trash, but no bird in sight! And the living room STILL needs work! At least he cleaned up after himself! ;p Once he's done here, I'll send him packing over to your place! :)

And lovely! I'm thrilled to have an idea how many Jo books to anticipate ;)

Maybe one of these days you can do an epilogue-type story on the crew at Station Five--a holiday story, perhaps?? :D

I believe you get some every year, along with Buckeyes and some of those mint crackers!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Jo:I write one for Agent Dean Osborne (Ozzie) but that's not on the horizon so far.

Oooooooooo
We should start a ground roots movement... "Ozzie, Ozzie, Ozzie..."

Think that will get us a fourth Shado series?

Or how about for more firefighter series books...

"Clay and Val, Clay and Val..." Uhm, not together! Gotta be specific with you, girl!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey Petite!

These books sound wonderful and would provide me with hours of pleasure.

These books and the heores would DEFINITELY give you hours of pleasure.

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Readers:

Have y'all noticed there's always a "special" scene in every book of Jo's firefighters?

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey Chilosa!

I love all your books but Trial by Fire is my favorite. I ve read that one over and over!!!

Isn't her description of "Six Pack" just the yummiest? I swear I could gobble up all six feet six of him!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey Traveler!

Are you related to my daughters? They both love books and journals for Christmas, too!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey Amy!

Great post! I haven't read this series yet so I'm thrilled I'll have some good reading to do this month.

If you read this series as fast as I do, you'll have a lot of the month left to read more books, and these a second time! Happy reading!

Yes, I'm one of those who waits for the last book in the series before reading. I'm not good with waiting for the next story.

OMG! You and Anna S? How can you guys wait like that? When I get a good series started, I beg for the next one ASAP!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey Maria!

Love them all, but Howard is my favorite.

Howard seems to be a big favorite with everyone. But I'm thinking Sean's story may just win over some converts to his team!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey Elain!

I hope Santa brings you lots of books, starting with the firefighter series and the Bandits' books, and the TV. But if he can't bring the TV, at least he'll be able to bring the books to keep your mind busy while waiting for the new TV!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey Jennifer!

For Christmas, I have a Kindle on my list :-).

You and me, both! Then we can download Jo's firefighters and keep them with us all the time!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Hey Cheryl!

One of my very favorite holiday romances is Nora Roberts' FIRST IMPRESSIONS. I reread it every year.

A most excellent suggestion! If you haven't tried Sandy Blair's A HIGHLANDER FOR CHISTMAS, I would recommend you do. It's a great story and the hero is too yummy!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Fedora:Maybe one of these days you can do an epilogue-type story on the crew at Station Five--a holiday story, perhaps??

ooooooooooooo, Jo, quick forward this idea to your editor. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease??? huh huh huh?

The party is really rocking here today at the fire station with the awesome heros all around us.

What a great day, it is really humid here in Sydney after a week of rain and of course the Boys have just made it more steamy LOL

I am another one who would love to see Shane's story

Have Fun
Helen

After reading this great post and seeing these amazing and beautiful covers I'd like Santa to bring me at least one of these gorgeous Firefighters and all 5 would be even better. :) Also a big GC so I can buy them all to read. I don't know how I missed these books. They are all on my Christmas wish list though as of now.
And I'll be looking for Soren (love the name) the Vampire as well. They all look like great reads. Please enter me.

I've loved the Fire Station Five books, but Howard and "Trial By Fire" remains my favorite. I've been impatiently waiting for Sean's story.

I'm looking foward to your new series because I've enjoyed the SHADO stories as much as the firefighters.

My sister gve me a Kindle for birthday in August and I love it, though with the amount of books in my TBR pile, I use them both.

Jo, you're books are great. Keep 'em coming!!!

Jo Davis said...

Hi Cheryl C,
I haven't read that one by Nora. I'll have to try it!

Thanks for stopping in and have a great holiday!

Jo Davis said...

Fedora,
I was just talking with Suz this afternoon about doing a holiday Station Five story where Howard and Kat have their baby! I'd put it up as a free read on my website. How would that be? :)

Jo Davis said...

Hi Chey,
I hope you get your ereader! I love mine. Thanks for stopping by. :)

Hi Helen,

A big wave back at you all the way to Sydney! How are things Down Under?

I hope one day I can write Shane's story-- maybe I can! Thanks for stopping by!

I'd love to get an Ipod or laptop, but since I don't get any presents, Santa will not be bringing it.

Jo, sorry I'm sad to say that I have not had a chance to read your books yet, but will try to soon.

Thanks
Dina

LOL, loved that interview/field trip ladies! Jo, a warm (fiery?) welcome to the lair!

I am soooo upset we banditas aren't eligible for these fabulous prizes! I love this series and I'll have to say that my favourite is going to be the one I've yet to read--RIDE THE FIRE. Can't wait!

For Christmas I would *love* an iPhone, but that's kind of unlikely. Also unlikely but something I'd adore is my children sleeping in until 8am and not fighting for the entire day. That is less likely than the iPhone, but one can dream!

Caridad Pineiro said...

I would just like some free time with my family for Christmas. Thanks for sharing the books and those really hot covers. Definitely helped take away today's chill.

Pat Cochran said...

Hi Suz & Jo, I don't have a fave
book in this series, I love them
all. Guess what I like best is
being able to just dive into the
lives of these firefighters. As
I lurk about in the shadows, I
get to watch all the interplay
between their daily tasks and the
passions of their private lives!
I'm so happy that I'll soon get
to read Sean's story, it seems
I've been waiting forever!

As for a gift from Santa, could I
say "peace on Earth" without it
sounding silly! I've had hopes for
this in my lifetime, but it just
doesn't look like it will happen!

Happy Christmas to all!!

flchen1 said...

Oh, yes, pretty please, Jo!? That would be incredibly wonderful! :)

Nancy said...

Fedora, congrats on the bird!

Jo, welcome back. This sounds like a terrific ending to a great series. I can't pick a favorite because I'm so far behind on my reading and have read only Trial by Fire, but I loved it and am looking forward to the rest.

Jo Davis said...

Hi Dina,
I hope you get your laptop or iPad! Putting in a wish with Santa. :)

Should you try the series, I hope you enjoy it. Have a great holiday!

Jo Davis said...

Hi Christine,

I'll keep my fingers crossed for your iPhone! I luuuuv mine and don't know what I'd do without it now!

LOL on the kids sleeping later and not fighting! Mine are teenagers now so they sleep late on the weekends--very nice! But the fighting... ah, well. One out of two isn't so bad. :)

I hope you enjoy Sean's story!! Have a fabulous holiday.

Jo Davis said...

Caridad,
I hear you on the free time! I'm between deadlines and waiting on revisions, and until I get those I'm making the most of my time with the kids and doing my shopping!

Have a great holiday and thanks for stopping by!

And don't forget to look for the prize winners on Saturday of the prizes Jo has offered!
