The Great Peep Easter Hunt

posted by Donna MacMeans

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!

Hope the Easter Bunny found your house and left lots of jelly beans and chocolate.

But if he didn't, have no fear. The Romance Bandits are here to help you celebrate the holiday! To this end we've collected a number of those marshmallow delicacies known as "peeps" and have hidden them in a virtual easter hunt.

Before I tell you the rules, please note the Bandit News scroll to the right and the words "Click here to email us!" When you want to send us your answers, please email them via this link and include your contact information. Do NOT post them in the comment section or it will ruin it for the other players. Okay?

The Rules - The clues below represent either 1) a book authored by a bandita or bandita guest or 2) something that has been mentioned in one of our blogs. To make things a little easier, I've included a list - in alphabetical order - of the authors participating in the hunt & the prize they are offering.

The first person to properly match the clues with the appropriate author can choose the prize of their choice. After that, we'll award prizes as the correct answers roll in. When the prizes are gone - they're gone (sorry).

Peep Clues:

1. The peep hides with he
Who is obsessed with large bugs

He just might be 'Lost'

2. You'll find this peep on the dark side.

3. The Romance genre she forsook
When Mystery presented its hook.
Peep's now in the cave
Trying hard to behave
And write the great Bibliophile book

4. This peep shies away from those that would call her "horsewitch," though bewitching she may be.

5. My peep is blonde, female, and wearing combat fatigues for butt-kicking purposes.

6. My peep turned as pink as her corset
Her curves to bare for his lordship,
But the tables were turned
His lessons well learned
Now she's the object of courtship.

7. This little peep had a "hot" time

Hanging with the guys of fire station #1
My, they had big hoses!!

8. What happens when you finally find the peep...and it's two?

9. Why is my peep wearing jammies?

10. Oh, who wrote this peep mad and cranky
So handsome but mother so skanky?
He dashed off to Scotland
That home of kilt plot land
I speak verity - hanky and panky

11. If you look carefully among the antiques
In the Pumpkin Patch store in Boston,
You might find this peep wearing his plaid.

12. This peep rode to Rachel's house
Snug in the saddlebags of a Texas Ranger

13. This peep travels far
and explains it all to you
on another blog

14. There once was a two-year-old girl,
The luckiest in all of the world,
She has a mommy named May-May,
And a Maw-Maw for most days,
But Grammy just loves her blond curls.

15. Ultramarine blue
And Alizarin crimson
Winter sunset sky
Hides my yellow peep
amid Ochre echoes on
barren evening ground

16. This peep is strumming a banjo on her knee.

Wow! Those are some tough clues to crack!! Don't forget - EMAIL your answers with your contact information (otherwise we won't know where to send the prize!). To help you out - here's a list of the participating authors and the prizes they offer:

Jeanne Adams ($10 Starbucks gift card, a Godiva snack and a cover)

Sandy Blair (signed copy of A Highlander For Christmas and a small silver bracelet)

Anna Campbell (signed copy of Claiming the Courtesan)

Kate Carlisle (a $15 Amazon gift certificate)

Caren Crane (a $10 Amazon gift certificate)

Kathynn Dennis (signed copy of Dark Rider, a cover flat and a blue jumping horse keychain)

Jo Robertson (a $15 Target card)

Kay Stockham (signed copy of Another Man's Baby)

Good Luck! and remember EMAIL the answers (but feel free to comment on the blog if you like the game)

Well, heck, Tawny! You nabbed the GR by split seconds!!! Treat him well today!

Good luck everyone on the peep hunt!

Hey, Tawny, you go, gal! Happy Easter to you, the GR, all the Banditas and all the Bandita Buddies!

Donna, what a great contest. Thanks for setting it up. Good luck, everyone!

I tried my best on the Easter Hunt.

COngrats on the GR Tawny!

Hugs, Danette

Happy Easter, everyone. The hunt was pretty difficult. I'm going to recharge by eating some Cadbury mini eggs.

hrdwrkdmom aka Dianna said...

Good morning to everyone and congrats Tawny! Don't let the GR see any real eggs today, he may go into defense mode.

Congrats, Tawny!

Happy Easter holiday, everyone! :)

Happy Easter everyone -

Tawny - Congrats on the Golden Rooster! I wasn't sure how he'd feel about my hiding his peeps. Please remind him no harm will come to living, breathing peeps (can't vouch for the marshmellow ones, though).

Suz - can you tell I was up late last night with tax returns? That's what I'll be doing all day today, so please come interrupt occasionally. I need the breaks *g*.

Anna - It was fun collecting everyone's clues. Some of them are tough! No cake walk...er...candy-strewn path, there *g*

Donna MacMeans said...

Danetteb - I'll go over in a minute and check the emails. My plan is to give periodic updates through the comments.

Oh and if the clues look like they are too tough. I may have to give additional clues. So check back

Thanks for playing!

Donna MacMeans said...

Jane - Cadbury eggs, yum! I miss not having little ones around so I can raid their baskets *g* My babies are grown but haven't had children of their own yet. (sigh)

Diana - In searching for the visuals for the blog, I came across one picture of a rooster chick looking at a scrambled egg and saying - Jack? Is that you?

I didn't think the GR could take it, so I passed.

Gillian - Thanks for playing the hunt.

I'll be back in a minute. I'm going to swing over to the email.

Here's the 9:00 update -

We've had four people play thus far and one got them all correct.

YAY MINNA! She gets to pick her prize. But there's plenty more prizes to win so keep on sending in your answers.

Congrats, Tawny!

Wow, that was a tough peep hunt...but lots of fun! I just sent in my guesses, Donna.

Happy Easter!

Hey Donna: Great Idea! Obviously I have a LOT of reading to do because I am clueless. Have a great Easter. Looks like we might actually get some sun for it.

Happy Easter, everyone! For those of you worshipping, have a wonderfully serene day. For those of you playing, don't eat too many of those chocolate Easter bunnies!

Tawny, hopefully the GR won't have to go on a diet when he leaves CA!

Beautiful post, Donna, but man, this is a HARD game! I don't even think I recognize my own clue LOL!

Oh wait, I do recognize the jammies one, tee hee. And oh, yeah, the explaining it all one.

Hmmmm, this is fun!

doglady said...

Happy Easter to all! Congrats on the GR Tawny!! Don't feed him too much chocolate. Nobody likes a hyper rooster.

I bought a new electronic alarm clock recently and one of the alarm settings is a rooster crowing! My dogs HATE it!! LOL

This Peep hunt is hard!!!

Kate Carlisle said...

Happy Easter, everyone! Great Peep Hunt you set up, Donna! I'm trying to figure some of these out.....you're right, Doglady, this is hard! But fun. :-)

Hmm, jammies...? And bugs?

Way to go, Tawny! Hope it's warm up north for you and the GR today. It's climbing up to the 80's here. My peeps are going to melt!!

Cassondra said...

Happy Easter everybody!

I've been AWOL from the lair because I've been working, but wanted to drop in to say hi and wish everyone a great holiday and a warm, sunny beginning of spring this week.

Great blog Donna. I'd have to work pretty hard at some of these!

Donna MacMeans said...

Hey! I didn't make up the clues (because if I did, they'd probably all rhyme *g* - oops, I suppose that's a clue in itself.)

However, I'm surprised at the ones most frequently missed, and the ones most consistently correct. I mean - until she added "female" to the clue, I thought the peep in combat fatigues was P226 *g*

I'm going to jump over to email. I'll be back in a minute.

Jeanne (AKA The Duchesse) said...

This is SUCH fun, Donna! What a great idea!

Happy Easter everyone! Or, a bit belated, Happy Ostera. If you're Greek Orthodox, I'll wish you happy easter in a few weeks... grins.

Love the clues. I especially love the picture of the firemen. Oh. My. Goodness. Almost makes you want to have a fire, just to see that. Yum! Better than chocolate bunny ears.

Congrats on the GR Tawny.

BETH!! LOVE the cover!!! Yeah! If you didn't see it, gang, flip back to the main blog page and see Beth Andrews new cover up on the sidebar. Most Excellent. We'll have Aunty Cindy's soon too, so keep an eye out for it!

Donna MacMeans said...

SO many of you are so close with your guesses! Minna got it correct without any extra clues, but to be fair I must admit -- if you send in a guess and miss a couple, I'll send you a personal clue to straighten out the answers.

SO send in your guesses, even if you don't know them all.

Minna has selected Sandy Blair's prize offering, but there are other wonderful prizes left. Don't miss the opportunity to claim yours.

Donna MacMeans said...

Additional clue alert -

Oops, did I forget to mention I'd give additional clues throughout the day? My bad.

Some of the clues refer to the covers on the sidebar... I'm just saying...

Jeanne (AKA The Duchesse) said...

Go Minna! How cool that you got them all in one go.

Loucinda McGary aka Aunty Cindy said...

Morning everyone (yes, it's STILL morning on the West Coast) and Happy Easter!

WTG Tawny on the GR! And Jane, I LURVE Cadbury mini eggs! Too bad this is the only time of year you can buy them. Or maybe that is good, considering how I can't stop eating them!

Donna and Cassondra, sorry you've been stuck on the DDJ (dreaded day jobs) lately. :-( But at least this Peep hunt will give everyone a bit of a diversion.

WHAT?!?! Minna already got a perfect score? WOW! I BOW to your superior powers of reasoning. Personally, it's too early for me to fully engage my gray matter. I'll have to try later to figure out some of those clues.

AC

pjpuppymom said...

Congrats, Minna! I bow to your greatness.

Joan said...

Congrats, Minna on getting them all correct!

In honor of the contest I decided to go by Walgreens after Mass and stock up on sale Peeps. They were SOLD OUT!

I suspect a GR raid myself.

Good luck to the rest of the contest participants

Happy Easter everyone

Fun post Donna I have emailed my guesses and most of them were guesses I am not good with puzzles but I had fun trying.
The Easter Bunny left a lot of chocolate at my place and my children went to the Easter Show here in Sydney and I also have some showbags filled with chocolate and licorice yummy shame I have to work most of the weekend and I can't relax.
Have Fun

ANOTHER CLUE ALERT:

Have a CARE around those really big bugs.

We have four winners thus far (though I suspect a fifth is closing in). The list includes:
Minna, Mce1011, PJ, and Jane. Prizes claimed thus far are the ones from Sandy Blair, Jo & Kate.

There are plenty still to be had.

Helen said...

Congrats to all the winners so far and thanks for the great puzzle I am off to work now and will check back in when I get home

Have A Happy Easter everyone

Have Fun
Helen

doglady said...

Minna, I too am in awe of your powers of deduction. I have given it four tries and threatened the Peeps with p226's flame thrower and am still coming away Peepless!

Fedora said...

Minna, congrats! And also Mce1011, PJ, and Jane!

My brain's still spinning after trying to read through a year's worth of posts! Whoo!

Donna, hats off to you for creating an excellent Peep hunt for us!

Tawny, hope you and the GR are enjoying a relaxing Easter! :)

Donna MacMeans said...

CLUE ALERT

Hmmm...the answer to number five seems to be throwing everyone for a loop. So I'll say this - the author is one of the banditas, and no - she is not blonde, nor is she Cassondra.

Donna MacMeans said...

We have six (count 'em six winners) thus far. They are in order of winning: Minna, Mce1011, PJ, Jane, Doglady, and Fedora.

Still lots of prizes to be won.

Donna MacMeans said...

ADITIONAL CLUE ALERT

That last one probably wasn't too helpful so I'll add this.

You might not realize that Suzanne Welch is a HOT writer. She's going to need some assistance to help put out the flames.

Anna Campbell said...

Wow, this is so exciting! Like watching a horse (witch) race! Congratulations to our winners so far and good luck everyone still trying!

Jane said...

Congrats to the winners. I'm trying to recover from a chocolate overdose.

jo robertson said...

Wow, Minna, great job!! You must have eaten some brain food this morning to get all the answers correct. I'm still struggling with them!

jo robertson said...

Additional congrats to Mce1011, PJ, and Jane for guessing the right answers.

Come on, guys, keep guessing. We don't want any left-over prizes! Do we? Nah!

jo robertson said...

Additional kudos to Doglady and Fedora!

Hmmm, Donna, Suzanne's clue was the ONLY one I got right away. Not sure what that says about me!

Donna MacMeans said...

Jo - I'd say that when you think of big hoses, you think of Suz.
*g*

And we have another winner. Danetteb got all the right answers which brings us up to seven.

There's still goodies left to win!

Donna MacMeans said...

CLUE ALERT

It's been awhile since the last one. So...

If you check the list of prizes, you'll note that Sandy Blair is offering a copy from her highland series. Highlanders are known to wear kilts and kilts have a unique design or type of material. You might find mention of that material in the last line of her clue.

Nancy said...

Tawny, congrats on nabbing ye olde rooster! Enjoy your chocolate eggs.

Donna, so sorry about the tax returns. At least the end is in sight. This is a clever idea. Thanks for putting it together.

Thanks to everyone who played, and good luck in tracking donw any you haven't found yet!

limecello said...

Wow - congratulations to Minna on getting them all right and on the first try. :P I wish I had sent in my answers earlier, and checked the comments so I knew about the hints. Haha - this was HARD.
Bad, if I can't handle a "scavenger hunt" and my spring break is over now...
And congratulations to all the other winners! Way to go!

Donna MacMeans said...

We have another winner in Limecello, and I think KimW will be next.

Seriously, just give the list a try. If at first you don't succeed, I'll help you get them all (behind the scenes, of course. Don't want to spoil it for anyone else).

Kammie said...

Sent my answers in with fingers crossed. Whew....tough one. lol

Donna MacMeans said...

KimW - You're a WINNER! To make the choosing easier, I've highlighted the prizes that have been spoken for in green. Those cash prizes go fast, but there's lots of books and lots of time left.

Good Luck.

Donna MacMeans said...

CLUE ALERT

Kay Stockham blogged with us earlier in the month about the release of her new book, ANOTHER MAN'S BABY. The cover featured a very pregnant lady. She looked so big, you just knew she'd been eating for two.

Keira Soleore said...

WTG, Tawny. And by the gods, are those peeping clues tough. BTW everyone, PJ is faaabulous at detecting. And looks like so's Minna. WTG, Minna. Beth, beautiful cover!! Love it!

A request Banditas: Is it possible to punch up the size of those cover thumbnails? They're too small to see much detail. I had to skip aorund on the 'net looking for Beth's cover.

doglady said...

YAY to all the winning PEEP HUNTERS!!! This was loads of fun and a great way to spend Easter! Thanks, Banditas!

Donna MacMeans said...

Congratulations to our winners:
Minna
Mce1011
PJ
Jane
Dogloady
Fichen1
Danette
Limecello
KimW

I think I'm all peeped out. But I'll be around for another hour if anyone still wants to win books or chocolate.

Helen said...

Congrats to all the winners I had to go to work so I wasn't around for all the fun but I have sent another email and hopefully I at least get them correct
Have Fun
Helen

pjpuppymom said...

Donna, thanks again for a fantastic and fun Peep hunt. Even though I didn't get them all correct the first time like the incredibly talented Minna, I felt pretty good about getting 11 of 15 on my first try. Jo, I chose your Target gift card (THANK YOU!) and I'll be using it to buy more books. What else? :)

pjpuppymom said...

Keira said, "BTW everyone, PJ is faaabulous at detecting."

Awwww. Thanks, Keira. You know how much I love playing these games. :)
