Ever been at a get-together and played this game? Everyone in the room takes a turn telling three things about themselves. Two of them are the truth and one is a lie. Then everyone must figure out which is which.
Since it’s a lazy Sunday here in the Lair, we thought it would be fun to play a round of 2 Truths & a Lie… Bandita Style! So without further ado, here are some things you might not know about your favorite Banditas:
Jeanne Adams - I love this game...that's the truth, BTW. Ha! So, two truths and a lie about me would be, in no particular order: I'm a fifth degree black belt in the Korean art of Tae Kwon Do (broke boards, and my hand at a sparring meet once), I raise, show and train Dalmatians (including a Best in Show winner!), and I've rehabbed four houses, including knocking down walls and putting 'em back up again. So....whaddya think about that!
Christie: I love this game, too!! I have eight brothers and sisters. I am a former navy pilot. I have lived in 12 different houses or apartments.Joan Kayse - Oh, cabana boy! I'll have another (hic) margarita! I've never played this game and that's the truth! But here goes... I am a master level quilter and have had my quilts displayed at the national quilt museum, I am renowned for my chocolate chip cookies, scones and have won scads of ribbons at the KY State Fair. I once onlined dated a man named Patrick from Northern Ireland.
Aunty C - *AHEM* Would you believe I was first runner up in a beauty pageant? What about that I was held up at gun point? Or that my ex proposed to me on our first date? Guess which one is false, I dare ya!
Suz- Okay, as my daughter says, "Mom, you're a writer, it's your job to make things up!" So here goes. I once delivered a baby in the front seat of a Grand Marquis. I've scuba dived off the gold coast of Florida. Two of my children formed a Christian Punk Rock Band and made a CD.
Jo: Like the others, I adore this game; here goes! (1) I was kidnapped in Guatemala. (2) I touched the Berlin Wall. (3) I rode a camel in Egypt.
Anna C - Never played this game before either. Closest I've come is a game called Balderdash and I'm terrible at that. But here goes. I studied music at university level. A guy who was a Roger Moore double on the Bond movies asked me out. I've been to Buckingham Palace.
Nancy: I'm also new at this game, but I'll give it a shot: I wore a brace for scoliosis in high school, I was once a movie extra, and I have a blue belt in jeet kune do.
Christine W: Ooh. Me next. I'm an only child and both my parents are also only children. I had brain surgery when I was two. I met my husband when I was 19. And I'd order something from our gawgeous cabana boy but I'm afraid Sven would get jealous!
WHEW! Are you up for the challenge of trying to sort out the facts from fiction? Or maybe you’d like to share 2 Truths and a Lie about yourself?
Have at it! And bring on the cabana boys!

OMG I love it!!! I KNOW you all and I'm having trouble with a few of these LOL. What a fun game!
Oooooh, bwaaaack bwaack.
Truth... the GR is hanging with Tawny and going shoe shopping all day Sunday...
mmm, gotta love the cabana boys ;)
And I took Tae Kwon do! I only Kirate chopped one board, but I'm confident I can errr... make the man lose his eyeballs..and the balls down below, if the need should ever arise.
This is easy for me, since y'all don't know me.
Truth: Never actually played the game, though Anna, I have played Balderdash:)
I'm a classically trained clarinetist. I used to breed fancy rats for film and televisions. I am an only child.
Hi Aunty Cindy,
I've never played this game before and I've only played Balderdash once. I'm going to have to come back later when I come up with a good lie. I can't figure what the lies are with you guys. Congrats on the GR, Tawny.
Tawny, he's happy to go shoe shopping. It means air conditioning! By the way, it's freezing here today! Brrrr! I've been writing under a blanket with a hot water bottle. Where's a nice warm cabana boy when you want him? Oh, that's right. Cindy stole them all to decorate her post!
This is a great game, isn't it? A couple I know, I think!
Tiffany, let's see. I think your lie is the only child thing.
Hehehehehe, I love this game!
Tawny, GR was supposed to get a respite from the heat. Are you a little cooler up there than we are in this part of California?
Great post idea, Cindy. Too bad we Banditas can't play. I might have a chance. Uh, well, maybe not.
TAWNY DEPP!!! Real men don't shoe shop.
Er, so my husband's been telling me for decades. Hmmmmm.
ROTFLMAO, Tiffany. Poor men, it's gotta be dangerous having two sets of . . . eyeballs.
Clarinetist and breeding rats is too far off the wall. Your lie has to be "only child," Tiffany.
Don't worry, Jane. I can't figure out what the lies are either and I SHOULD know them!
Oooh, Anna, great minds think alike. I said "only child" for Tiffany too.
But WHAT!!?? Blankets!! How dare you tease us as we swelter in 101 degree weather?
hehe Jo - its miserable hot here, but it cooled down this evening (not enough to need Anna's hot water bottle, though) and we're taking the cover off the pool tomorrow, so he can sun before we shoe shop (the tan might help him retain his manhood while we shop *g*)
Tiffany, I'm going to guess the rat part is made up. If not, I want details on what movies your rats starred in LOL.
True, those two are so off the wall they must be true, eh? For the sake of my brother, I should go again ;) dang it.
I live in a converted Edwardian mansion, have a bohemoeth dog that almost weighs the same as me, and I love my day job :)
lol, tawny. I have to admit... we (hubby and I) sold fancy dumbo-blue rats (I kid you not, the colour of a Canadian five dollar bill) but our agoutis (brown rats) stared in Witchblade a TV series :) I lurve rats. Wonderful creatures, smarter than a dog too.
dumbo-blue rats... OMG I love the name of those LOL. I'm picturing a blue disney elephant morphing into a rat LOLOL.
Did you train these rats? Or were they just hanging out on the TV set?
Oh - my guess this time, um... the mansion? If that one's true, can I come live with you?
Hey, Tiffany! What fun! My guess this time is the love the day job thing. That's just TOO unlikely ;-) Love the rat story, by the way! See how you go picking out the lies and truths for the banditas!
Fancy rats. Love it! Snork. Tiffany, you BELONG in the lair!! Hey, do we get to play if no one guesses by 10PM?

Jeanne Adams: Rehabbed four houses
Christie: a former navy pilot
Joan Kayse: online dated Patrick from Northern Ireland
Aunty C: held at gun point
Suz: delivered a baby
Jo: kidnapped in Guatemala
Nancy: wore a brace fro scoliosis
Christine W: had brain surgery when two
Guesses of the lies... see I don't know you crazy gals all that well.
Jeanne: Blackbelt
Christie: Pilot
Joan: Hmmmm... someone mentioned an Irishman on here once, can't remember who. so I have to say the first is the fib.
AuntyC: Gunpoint.
Suz: Either the first or the last.
Jo:The first
Anna:The second one. I think it's a nice dream, but there is a reason we make up all our hotties :)
Nancy: No idea. The third? Seems too obscure.
Christine: The last?
Tawny: We trained our rats. They could stay, come, stand, the usual things. Our boys reached about four pounds---that is pretty big for a domestic rat. I've trained ferrets too. I had four of them before the babes (they are not good around children under six) They were, Kyra Bear, Gus, Nozzi, and Spaz. :) I'm a lover of animals. I thought I'd be an ornithologist, when I that dream seemed wrong I wanted my own managerie of birds but the hubby is allergic. Seriously, how is such a thing possible?
This has been a lot of fun :) Thanks for the Sunday amusement.
Well, crud! I missed posting to this one and I had my two all ready to go! Okay, two truths and a lie about me: 1) I met my husband in thermodynamics class while pursuing my mechanical engineering degree; 2) I enjoy spelunking, rappelling, whitewater rafting, kayaking, extreme zip lines and windsurfing; 3) I once dated a guy who had played basketball for Italy.
I have to say, everyone else's is hard! But I don't think Christie was a navy pilot...
Tawny, congrats on the GR!
Tiffany, I want to come live in your Edwardian mansion! Umm...you'll have to convince me how dear the rats are, though. I've not lived with those!
But my oldest sister did have white mice, hamsters and gerbils. The hamsters were cute (except they will try to eat their young - okay any of them will unless you keep the moms and babies separated).
Tiffany, on your second set I guess "love your day job" as the lie.
And if it's the truth, more power to you :-)
Carol,
I guess your lie to be the computer games!
Am I right? Am I right? Huh? Am I?
Since like Tiff, I don't all of you that well either, I'm taking a stab at it.
Jeanne: Show and train Dalmations
Christie: Eight brothers and sisters. And if you do, you need to start a television show. *g*
Joan: the quilts.
Aunty C: ex proposal on first date. He seems more of a let's get married on the second date sort of guy. *g*
Suz: rock band.
Jo: rode a camel.
Anna C: Roger Moore look-alike. But if I'm wrong, I feel like I should know this! LOL
Nancy: blue belt
Christine: only child of only child parents
Okay, now for me:
I saved a horse once who escaped from the stables and was dubbed the "Horse Whisperer" by my family. No one in my family knew I was an aspiring romance writer until two weeks ago when my aunt googled my name. I am a fabulous baker and have never been threatened with a makeover... from my own mother!
Tiffany, I'd pick loving the day job as the lie. Arrrgggghhhh, does anyone love the DDJ? I hope living in the Edwardian mansion is true because they're so loverly!
Anna, my soul-sister, are you reading my mind?
Congrats on the GR Tawny, when searching for shoes you will notice he has a thing for spiked heels.
Oh this looks like fun.....it is all a guess for me though.
What I believe to be lies.
Jeanne: Rehabbed four houses.
Christie: Former Navy Pilot
Joan: Online dated guy named Patrick.
Aunty C: The proposal by ex.
Suz: Uh, delivered a baby.
Jo: Touched the Berlin Wall.
Anna C.: Buckingham Palace.
Nancy: Movie Extra
Christine W.: Only child of only children.
Here is some info about me:
I used to sew professionally.
I have a yellow belt in Okinawan Karate.
I modeled with my hands when I was in my 20's.
Tiffany, I think the day job thing is fib.
Tiffany, I think the day job thing is fib.
Helen, I don't believe you have 3 dogs.
Carol, Just guessing again I don't believe you play computer games??
Caren: I once dated a guy who had played basketball for Italy.
Elyssa Papa: No one in my family knew I was an aspiring author.
Hi all I have never played this game so have no idea what is true.
Joan, love your broken star quilt. I also quilt to and have made that quilt also very difficult. I have never entered any of my quilts at the fair, started to do the Boyle Co fair in KY this past year but chickened out. The Broken star would have been the one I entered if I had. I just thought it would be a big hassel.
Hey Everyone!
Thanx for coming out to play in the Lair today!
YAY Tawny on capturing the GR. He chowed down on that coconut ice cream sundae in the HUGE margarita glass with Jo-Mama and me after our meeting yesterday. Since it's another hot day, I'm sure both of you will enjoy shopping at the mall!
Tiffany, I KNEW that rat thing had to be true. As y'all can see by these answers, truth really is stranger than fiction!
Helen, I thought you had FOUR dogs, but maybe I counted wrong! LOL!
Carol, I'm thinking you were not a Hotel cook. Then again...
This game is actually easier to play in person when you can watch a person's facial expression and body language. One or both often give away the lie!
AC
Hey Jane! If you need help with making up a lie, any of the Banditas will be happy to assist! :-)
Elyssa, since very few members of my family knew I was writing romance novels until I SOLD one, I'm guessing that is TRUE of you too. And the Horse Whisperer thing is too unusual to be a lie. Therefore...
Dianna, I do think you were a professional hand model. The other two, I'm not so sure...
AC
AC, When are we going to find out all the truths?????
Hey, Virginia! Another Kentuckian, woohoo!
Broken Star, Drunkard's Path, Wedding Ring. All intricate and beautiful designs...Traditional designs that I love the most.
My Mama ALWAYS pieced her quilts!
Hey Dianna!
You're reading my mind! I just asked the other Banditas privately when they wanted to do THE BIG REVEAL!
Want to reveal YOUR lie?
AC
Hmmm, you ladies have me guessing at quite a few of these. I think you all have lived some pretty interesting lives thus far.
Here are my 3 tidbits.
1) I have been a championship swimmer in the freestyle and butterfly strokes.
2) I have flown in a Blue Angels jet.
3) I have ridden a camel in a distant land.
Okay, let me just throw out a totally gratuitous plug...
Please CHECK OUT OUR SIDEBAR!
You will notice some BEAUTIFUL (even if I do say so myself!) new book covers! And also some FAB new contest news!
As Tawny would say... BANDITAS ROCK!
AC
Tawny, congrats on the GR. Making good use of that restored PC, I see!
Tiffany, I would've picked the rats, too. Darn! (or "rats!*g*). But Witchblade? I loooved Witchblade! How cool that you worked on it! I'm so looking forward to the DVD release. It's the same day as Stargate: Continuum, and I'll be on a plane to San Francisco. My guys will have to hit the store for me.
Wow! Y'all are really rockin' on these answers. I confess, I don't know which ones are which on some of the banditas. I'll also say that somebody got mine right, but I won't yet say who. Tune in later, same bat-day, same bat-channel. (BTW, Adam West is going to be at DragonCon.)
Tiffany, I'll also take the mansion as the lie.
Carol--is "hotel cook" the lie?
Helen, I'll guess the gym as false?
Elyssa--is lie the baker/makeover?
Dianna, I pick the sewing as the "not."
Wow Buffie!
Those are 3 good ones! The swimming one is too unusual to be a lie. The other two... Well, if the Blue Angels is true, GO YOU!
AC
who has also ridden a camel in Morocco. Hard to say which smelled worse, the animal or his handler.
Oooh, Tawny! Shoe shopping! Can I trade places w/ the GR? I know, I know, he doesn't like to get his feathers wet. Its raining - again - here. Christie, maybe we should work on our Arks today.
This was a really fun idea, Cindy. Gosh I know y'all and some of these are HARD. Grins. So are you going to do the big reveal later, AC? :>
Tiffany, I love the thing about the rats. Wow. And I want to hear about whether the behemouth dog is as big as you or whether that's a big whopper too. Ha!
Helen, I'm thinking you have brothers. :>
Carol, I go by Jeanne, but I'll still answer. Heehee. I'm going to show my litary ignorance and ask who Banjo Patterson is. :>
Oh, my, Elyssa...from the way you said it, I'm guessing you WERE threatened with a makeover from your Mama. :>
Dianna, yours is hard. All of them are so plausible...hand model might be the lie...
Virginia! You've actually DONE a broken star? Wow, you should enter it in the fair this year. Good gracious, just finishing one is a huge accomplishment.
THis is fun!
Wow, Buffie, whichever the two true ones are, they're cool! I'm going to guess you've not flown a BA jet. Just to be contrary.
Ha!
Boy, this is HARD! Can't you all have made up lies that are more obviously lies???
Congrats on the GR, Tawny--I'm sure he'll enjoy looking for more exciting footwear ;)
AC, maybe I should qualify my statements. One of the three is a half lie. I was offered a job as a hand model in my early twenties but I didn't take it. To look at me now you would never believe it but I was offered several modeling jobs when I was a sweet young thing...LOL
Buffie, I choose #3 as the lie.
I'm going to make my guesses before I read the comments, just to be fair. Hmmmm...lessee.
Jeanne - no black belt
Christie - not 8 bros and sis
Joan - no quilting
Aunty C - no first date proposal
Suz - no punk band
Jo - no kidnapping
Anna C - no music at uni
Nancy - no movie extra
Christine W. - no brain surgery
These are all total guesses. Now I'll check out the comments and come back with my own truth & lies.
Dianna,
Actually I do not find it hard to believe that you were offered modeling jobs. After all, I really WAS a runner up in a beauty pageant. And big THANX to everyone for being so diplomatic and not calling me a liar on that one! LOL!
Oh, and I was two years old at the time...
AC
who was a cute, albeit BALD baby.
Very sneaky, Nancy, saying somebody got yours right, but not saying who!
CONGRATS on your Daphne final! We'll be cheering for you at Death By Chocolate!
AC
who happens to KNOW that Jo-Mama really was kidnapped (and robbed) in Guatemala by guerillas!
Aunty, we know one of your truths now. What about the other two??
Now that I read the comments, I can say I knew both of Tiff's lies. But then I've been to her apartment in that old mansion. *g*
Here's my offering:
1. I've played music on the Island of Jamaica
2. I am the youngest of six children
3. My first job was as a train operator
This is fun
Tiffany those rats sound very cute
as for me Dianna and Aunty Cindy I have 3 dogs love them Tootsie Brandy and Blocker Jeanne I am the eldest of 4 girls no brothers and Nancy you are correct this little black duck wouldn't go to a gym to much hard work and besides which it would cut into my reading time LOL.
Have Fun
Helen
Yawning and checking in...seriously considering sleeping more...but hubby is cooking steaks...hmmmm
Okay, I can say TWO people guessed my lie correctly!
Carol I am going to guess that knowing all of Bango Patterson work is false
Caren I am going to guess dating The Italian basketball player is false
Elyssa I would say the faboulos baker and makeover is false
Dianna the yellow belt in karate
Buffie riding the camel
Terrio first job as a train operater
Namcy big congrats with the award way to go girl.
Have Fun
Helen
I know Ely's answer too so I won't give that one away. Helen, nope, that one is true. *g*
Terrio, I am guessing you are NOT the youngest of six
You've got me, Dianna. I'm actually the second of four but we're a bit spread out. There are 20 years oldest to youngest. Keeps things very interesting. And proves my parents are totally insane.
There is 12 years between my two and that is crazy enough. My body says it was a horrible thing to do to it.
Ely, I think it's the writer thing because lots of us keep are 'real' life under wraps.
Helen, I'm guessing the gym is a lie - not sure why. The other two just sound like you.
Carol, I'm guessing computer games is your lie.
Dianna, I'm guessing the sewing professionally?
Buffie, I'm guessing the camel is the lie. Hey, have you noticed how often camels appear in this list?
Dianna, even being offered a job as a hand model is cool!
Jeanne, Banjo Paterson is our national poet! Sheesh! He wrote the lyrics for Waltzing Matilda for a start. Not to mention The Man from Snowy River. There was movement at the station for the new had got around that the cold from old Regret had got away... Doesn't that make you want to chase a wild horse through the bush?
Terri, I think it's the six children thing.
Yay, Helen, I got yours!!!!
Hey, Terri, just got the bit where you fessed up. I was right!
Hey, I want some more lies to play with! Am I allowed to guess the Bandita ones now?
Jeanne, you've fessed up to this but I was going to guess the houses so I would have been wrong.
Christie, I'm guessing the eight brothers and sisters.
Joan, you've fessed up privately so I won't spoil your fun.
AC, ditto! And I thought you were shoo-in for the beauty prize thing!
Suz, I'm guessing scuba diving?
Jo, I'm guessing the wall.
Nancy, you've fessed up too.
Christine, brain surgery?
Yeah, I want to know about the brain surgery too.... :>
"There was movement at the station for the new had got around that the cold from old Regret had got away... Doesn't that make you want to chase a wild horse through the bush?"
Um, it might if I spelt it correctly. I shouldn't type when I'm still dopey. I think the quote is actually:
There was movement at the station for the word had passed around that the colt from old Regret had got away... Doesn't that make you want to chase a wild horse through the bush?
There, Jeanne. Into the saddle with you!
Oh Anna don't you just love The Man From Snowy River I love listening to someone read that well. Wasn't it Kirk Douglas in the mini series saying that.
As for the gym it isn't really me is it LOL.
I have to go to work soon so I will keep checking in when I can
Have Fun
Helen
Oh, I love this game. Here are my three.
I'm a prize-winning photographer.
I'm an avid traveler who has visited 35 US states and 7 foreign countries.
I'm a master gardener.
Helen, do you remember Leonard Teale? He came to our school and did a whole performance of the bush ballads and I still remember how fantastic it was. I also had a grade five teacher who loved them so we used to spend a lot of school time reading things like Mulga Bill's Bicycle and The Man from Iron Bark. One of my faves was We'll All be Rooned, said Hanrahan. That one still makes me laugh.
PJ, my guess is the lie is the gardener. You look like a photographer to me!
I'm glad you put it in again, Anna. I was wondering what was new and what a capitalized Regret had to do with the Station...
Heehee.
The Colt from Old Regret. Yep I recognize that from the movie.
PJ, I'm thinking the photog, and the travel. :>
Yes Anna I do remember Leonard Teale he had such a wonderful voice and I too have heard him read some of the bush ballards on TV I remember him in Homicide as well.(showing my age)
PJ my guess your false one is the photographer
Have Fun
Helen
A station's like a ranch (kinda) and Regret (or perhaps Old Regret was its full name) is the sire of the colt that got away. It's quite an exciting poem - really captures galloping through the bush well. Helen, I remember Leonard Teale from Homicide, although admittedly from my childhood. It was popular in our house!
Helen, you've never mentioned a gym, so I guessed that might be it! Thanks for the congratulations!
Buffie, I'm guessing the jet is the "no" on you. I'd love to fly with the Blue Angels (go, Navy!) but I get sick on anything swoopy or whirly. If you really did that, Yay you!
AC wrote: Very sneaky, Nancy, saying somebody got yours right, but not saying who! I thought you wanted a slow "reveal." So I'll say this much--I really do have a blue belt in jeet kune do karate. I just haven't used it lately.
BTW, AC, thanks for updating the sidebar. It looks great! I appreciate the congratulations, too. No matter where I place, I still get Death by Chocolate *g* I sent in the $ yesterday.
Dianna, I think the hand model offer is cool! I have trouble holding mine steady, as I assume one must in that line of work.
Terrio, I pick train operator for the not. However, I now see that's wrong. Having all those siblings, even if you're not one of six, sounds wonderful. As a devotee of the Bobbsey Twins, I wanted to come from a big family.
PJ--the photography and the travel seem to go together, and I personally have a totally brown thumb, so I guess the lie is the gardening?
Tiffany, I may have seen your rats. I really liked Witchblade, so of course they canceled it, like they do so many shows I like. Grrr....
I've been so busy I missed out on getting my info to Aunty Cindy too, so here goes:
I grew up with no phone in the house, I only have one kidney, and I have more than 800 books in my house.
OK, Trish, my guess is the one kidney. Am I right?
Trish, I am guessing you grew up with no phone in the house as a lie.
PJ- I think the Master Gardener is a lie.
Virginia, hey, a Boyle County reader! I know exactly where that is.
Hello, Banditas! Congrats on the GR Tawny! I'll go shoe shopping with you if he won't, Tawny!
Okay here are my guesses as to the lies.
Jeanne - Dalmations
Christie - Navy pilot
Joan - the prize winning cooking?
Aunty C - the proposal
Suz - the scuba diving
Jo - the kidnapping, I hope!
Anna C - Buckingham Palace
Nancy - Movie extra
Christine W - Brain surgery (I hope!)
Trish - hmm. tough one. The 800 books?
Now here are my 2 truths and a lie in no particular order, of course!
I speak Mandarin.
I have walked on the Great Wall of China.
I have helped to catch and move a 15 foot alligator.
Sorry, ladies, I am not even going
to attempt finding the untruths!
Not knowing you is a great handicap
in this game. I will attempt to fool you!
1. I am the eldest of seven.
2. My favorite Nascar driver is
Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
3. I was taught Can Can dancing
by Patsy Swayze.
Pat Cochran
Nancy, the hardest part is holding your hands in a natural position when normally you wouldn't stop moving at that particular point.
Doglady, I believe the wall walking is the lie.
Pat, I believe #3 is the lie.
Laundry room is calling my name, I gotta go but will definitely check in for the unveiling.
Now for the really important stuff!
I met the fabulous Trish Milburn on Saturday!!! She is SO CUTE and an absolute doll. Not that I expected anything less. I didn't know if she would recognize me, but as soon as I walked up, she squealed and jumped up to give me a hug. I know the other luncheon attendees thought "What are those two squealing about?" We had a lovely time. Roxie St. Clair was the keynote speaker and she was very entertaining and inspiring, wasn't she, Trish?
Can I just say that Trish's table was a rowdy bunch. (Her table filled up before I could get my butt in a chair!)AND the ladies at her table racked up an impressive number of gift basket wins - author baskets and raffle baskets. She was definitely a good luck charm!
Sorry to have been gone so long. I've been gardening...which PJ I think is your lie :-)
If not, come to KY and help me!
Tch, Tch, Tch on those who thought my prize winning baking was an untruth. I have indeed won over 100 ribbons at the KY State Fair MOSTLY for my cakes. in 2003 and won the coveted sweepstakes and am not above "nanny nanny poo pooing" a 10 year old who rubbed her acomplishment in my face :-)
And then there were two......
OK, lies. Pam, the Great Wall of China? Pat, the can can dancing? So, Dianna, I'm with you!
Yes, JT is ALWAYS telling us about her fantastic baking. But she keeps it to herself, the mean thing! No brownies in the lair!
Pam, sounds like you and Trish and everyone else had a great time on the weekend!
Pam, I'm thinking the speaking Madarin is the lie. The other two sound so cool as to be true. Heehee.
Pat, I'm going to guess that your fav NASCAR driver's Jimmy Johnson, not Dale Earnhart, Jr. :> But JJ is from my area of NC so I'm partial. But Dale's Mama was a Gee, and I'm kin to them...so...
Anna, stop talking about Joanie T's brownies. Drat. Now I want chocolate.
Oh, RATS!
And I don't mean Tiffany's rats. I had to work yesterday and got off late and didn't get my stuff to Aunty C!
Okay, here are mine:
I run Search & Rescue Dogs, I'm a certified Public Safety Diver and dive for drowned bodies, and I'm a beekeeper.
So there ya go. Which one is a lie and which are the truth?
See what happens when you go away for the day--the freaking blog explodes ;)
I know both Ely's and Ter's lies...
I have a Bernese mountain dog that weighs no less than 130 lbs going by the name of baby bear, or booboo when I'm talking to him. It makes for great entertainment when he decides (on his walks) that the dog all the way on the other side of the park cannot complete its day without some slobber happy wagging that knocks everyone over--by boy's a lover ;) He will drag me all the way there, whether I'm on my feet or not doesn't seem to faze him.
Anna got the job bit correct.
Doglady--I'm gonna say the mandarin, Buffie... I have no freaking clue.
and if only english (aside from engrish) were my first language today.
My boy... that should have read. lol I'm sure I'm missing other words in there too.
Hey, Pam!! It was great to meet you yesterday. It was a really fun event, so if any of you pubbed authors get the chance to go to the Heart of Dixie Readers' Luncheon, go.
Hmm, I think your lie is the speaking Mandarin. Though if you can speak it, I'd love to learn!
Ha! I'm gonna guess that Buffie HAS flown in a Blue Angels jet but has NOT ridden a camel. ;0p
I'm guessing Carol does NOT play computer games (but to me, rpg means rocket-propelled grenade, so whaddaIknow?)
elyssa, I'm gonna guess the whole "aunt googling you" is TRUE and the horse thing is true.
hrdwrkmom, I guess that sewing professionally is the lie.
PJ, I'm guessing the master gardener is a lie.
Okay, lessee...some of mine may have already been answered--gotta read through the comments.
Doglady I'm guessing you do NOT speak Mandarin....???
Cassondra, now those are three tough ones. I'm going to say the beekeeper is the lie.
It was so good to meet you too, Trish. Was that lemon cake not divine!
Brownies? No, my dears.
Chocolate Chip Cookies....renowned throughout my...friends.
Gooey, melty chocolate in a brown sugary PERFECT base fresh out of the oven with a big 'ole glass of cold milk.
And don't even make me describe my scones...famous throughout...the local Irishfest :-)
Pat, I think your fav NASCAR driver is NOT Earnhart Jr. I think it's somebody else.
WOW! MORE great truths and lies!
I KNOW Cassondra's lie. ;-) And I'm guessing Trish's is the one kidney. Unless, of course, how we've all promised our extras to Foanna is what you mean. LOL! Oh, and I KNOW you have at least 800 books. Don't we all???
WTG on the travel, PJ. Tell me your countries and I'll tell you mine.
And Doglady, I too have walked on the Great Wall, and have the photos to prove it! So glad you and Trish got together at the Readers Luncheon yesterday. The Sacto Valley Rose chapter will have ours on Sept. 20th if anyone is in the area. Susan Wiggs is our guest speaker.
Okay, I'll come clean... The ex did NOT propose on our 1st date. He waited until the 4th. I still thought he was joking.
So YES, I really was held up at gun point. It was my first retail job and I was 17 years old. SCARY!
AC
Ha! I know Jeanne's and Joanie's and Nancy's lies. I think I know Anna C's. I'm actually waffling on Caren's!
Everybody in the lair knows mine cuz I had to have help making mine up. I'm not any good at lying about myself. :0/
Cassondra,
Glad you threw in that caveat, "...about myself" coz you are superb at creating lies/fiction about other things!
Here's what I'll do about the post, in another hour or so, I'll go in and BOLD the lies. That way you'll find out. As for the ones told here in the comments, y'all have to sort those out for yourselves! Which has been a BLAST by the way!
Thanx to everyone for playing along!
AC
Dianna and Helen, I'm sorry to say that I DID date a guy who played basketball for Italy. I also dated his younger brother, but that's a whole 'nother story. *eg*
My lie is that I met my husband in CIRCUITS class when studying ELECTRICAL engineering. That's why Cassondra was waffling. She smelled a rat! (but not one of Tiffany's =:-0)
I'll say only this before Aunty reveals our BOLD faced lies....
It's true what they say about Irish charm ;-)
So confession is good for the soul, right? Here you go...
I can't believe the number of people who thought I couldn't have 8 brothers and sisters...Kelley--Irish Catholic. I have 5 brothers and 3 sisters, 23 nieces and nephews (maybe more, I've lost count).
Nope, I wasn't in the Navy. Wanted to go into the Air Force but my eyes were not good. This was before laser surgery.
Pat, I don't believe you were taught the can can by Patrick Swayze. Patrick is a great dancer, but it was probably some other fab dancer who taught you to can can! Spill!
So far, all guesses on my lie are incorrect! My lie: I am the eldest of nine, not seven. Junior IS my "Boy" and Patsy Swayze did teach a group of us nursing
students a Can Can routine. We danced in the University of Houston's Frontier Fiesta in 1955. Our show was called The French Quarter. I was the first dancer onstage, running and yelling
to my first move, which was a split!
Pat Cochran
P.S. Patsy Swayze is Patrick's
mother. She is a FABULOUS teacher!
I'm not going to swear to this, but
I think she taught Debbie Allen
of "Fame," who is not a slouch of
a dancer herself!
P.P.S Patsy taught Patrick!
Pat Cochran
I bet even some of the banditas will get mine wrong. Hehehehehehe.
Pat said:
P.S. Patsy Swayze is Patrick's
mother.
Pat, I knew this. I figured some people would read that and think Patrick, but that's why I guessed your lie was Earnhart! I figured maybe it was his dad. :0( Not a NASCAR fan, but still sad about that.
It's true what they say about Irish charm.
Ah, Joanie darlin', sure and truer words were never spoke! I just hope your Pat in Northern Ireland was NOT my DH's cousin, since he's married and has 6 children.
And Posh, I had a sneaky suspicion that was the WRONG engineering class... you sly vixen!
Pat, I'd have LOVED to seen that show! Not just the Can-Can but THE SPLITS?!?! I'm in awe!
AC
Pat, how utterly cool!!!!
Okay there's whispering in the back room of the lair. I was wrong, SO WRONG about Anna C! Like, mouth hanging open drop dead WRONG wrong.
Still cannot believe it.
Most of you have guessed my lie so I'll come clean too. No, I am not a master gardener though I have improved to the point where plants no longer scream in terror when they see me coming. ;)
Mine was a bit sneaky, C! Actually I was surprised people thought I was lying about the music thing. It was the other two that I thought would confuse everyone! Coming clean - I have NOT been to Buckingham Palace although I've been past it. And the Bond story is absolutely true.
Anna, you've made enough comments here and there about classical music competitions that I knew that one was true. The Bond thing was just too far fetched to be a lie--and you know--everybody dates somebody--why NOT?
But all that time in England and you haven't been to the Palace?
Okay it's obviously going to take me a while to get over this one. I mean, I'VE been to Buckingham Palace. Saw a guard there with a hangover who was all wobbly and had his buzby (is that spelled right) on real crooked.
AC, I've actually been to more than 7 countries but my fuzzy mind (courtesy of sinus/bronchial infections and associated meds)forgot about some of them when I posted. I've been to Canada, Mexico, Belgium, France, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Jamaica, The Bahamas and The Cayman Islands.
Ok, you've seen mine. Now show me yours! :)
Ah Patrick...now there was a charmer. Loads of emails back and forth, sharing our wishes, our dreams.
I won't even tell you the cost of a hour long telephone chat.
And then two nights running he called me up at midnight well into his cups. His friend had forced him to drink you see...because he is "allergic".
Uh, huh.
Sigh.
AC, we have something else in common besides travel. I've also been held up at gunpoint...twice.
The French Quarter was absolutely
wonderful! The Fiesta ran for a
week and we all had a grand time!
I have one little picture of me in
my costume and my grandchildren all
giggle to see their grandma, dressed in the funny outfit!
We mentioned Patrick Swayze earlier, I just want to send him
the best wishes! I want to let
him know I've put his name on our prayer list.
Pat Cochran
ROFLOL! PJ, how much time ya go?
Okay, here goes, and hope I don't forget any...Mexico, Canada, China, Thailand, Australia, UK, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Italy, The Vatican, Monaco, Greece, Turkey, Turk & Caicos, Virgin Islands, and every state EXCEPT, West Virginia (I was within 500 yards but it was raining too hard to cross the line), Connecticut, and Rhode Island. I've also been in Puerto Ricl and I have been in the airport in Tokyo, Japan, but only to change planes. :-)
Now aren't you sorry you asked?
AC
Buffie, I know one of your truths but it's a toss-up between the other two. I'm going to say flying in the Blue Angels jet is the lie.
OOPS! Yes, I'm tired!
That's how much time ya GOT and Puerto Rico.
I'd better go and BOLD those lies while I can still see straight!
Thanx again to everybody for making this such a FUN SUNDAY in the Lair!
AC
Oops! I forgot The Vatican. Forgot about that being a separate country.
Wow, AC! Did you visit them for pleasure or business? That's a whole bunch of countries!
This was so much fun!
My lie was the baker and makeover thing. I cannot cook and yes, I've been threatened with a makeover by my mom, my sister... my students. *g*
I've been gone most of the day, but my goodness, what a lot of fun you've been having today.
I'll reveal my LIE: I've never seen the Berlin Wall in person. When I lived there, it hadn't yet been built, so while I lived there and saw the check point into East Germany, there was no wall at the time.
Yes, we were kidnapped in Guatemala, held hostage for about five hours, maybe six, and released unharmed.
I rode a camel in Egypt when I'd never even ridden a horse! They're amazing creatures and I, of course, was much younger.
Wow, Aunty Cindy, that is quite a list! You lucky thing, you! I have NOT walked the Great Wall. China is one of those places I would love to visit at some point as I DO speak Mandarin. The alligator? Well, that is back in my zoo volunteer days.
Joan, I would love to see your quilts. I quilt too, when I have time! I used to piece and quilt all of my quilts by hand, but my brother bought me a fantastic sewing machine a few years ago so I don't piece them by hand as much. I do quilt them by hand as it is very relaxing. He bought the sewing machine because I was taking too long to finish his bear claw denim and flannel quilt!
Anna, I knew you are a musician and I figured you were just the sort of girl a James Bond double would ask out!
Pam/doglady, yes, the lemon cake was yummy. I got excited because I love lemon desserts. Usually they serve chocolate or cheesecake at events at hotels, but luckily I love both of those too.
Those of you who guessed that my lie was the one kidney thing are right. I did, in fact, grow up without a phone. My parents didn't get one until I went away to college so they could call me. :)
This has been a really fun post.
Jo, that's scary about being kidnapped in Guatemala! Glad they didn't hurt you.
Doglady, Sorry to disappoint but I am NOT a master quilter.
I lied :-)
But my Mama was a skilled and wonderful quilter. I inherited only 1/2 of the quilting gene. I can piece by machine and quilt crooked stitches by hand. The one wall hanging I tried to do...she had to finish for me. I have no patience to do an entire quilt.
You ought to see the ones I inherited from her though...gorgeous!
Okay, you can now go to the post and see the BOLD lies.
I'm afraid Jeanne is only a red belt, and while Joanie can quilt, she is not at master level, and sorry, the picture was one I found, not her work. Oh, and much as Madame C-W might wish it otherwise, she DOES have a brother!
PJ, I am sorry we have the "held up at gunpoint" in common. That is JUST TOO SCARY!
And Doglady, seeing The Great Wall was one of the three places I told the DH I wanted to go before I died (the other two were Ireland and Venice).
Yes, The Vatican is a separate country, as is a tiny place called San Marino, also on the Italian peninsula, but so far I haven't made it there...YET!
AC
Okay, confession time.
1. True. Yes, I did deliver a baby in the front seat of a Grand Marquis while we lived in Florida...Leather upholster seats made a very nice delivery table. Baby and mom were both great!
2. False. No, I never went scuba diving, although I would have like to in the Gulf. The idea of finding buried treasure would be great fun.
3. True. My daughter Lyndsey and son Eric, along with Lyndsey's husband, John formed a band called Follow The Leader. A Christian Punk Rock band, that toured Northern Texas and they cut two CD's!
AC,
I do hope you get to Venice at some
point! It is the one place I have
been and words fail me when I try
to describe our trip! I won the
trip in a sweepstakes, which makes
it my ultimate prize! We stayed in
5-star hotels which at one time were 5-star palaces! One of the hotels was once the Doge of
Venice's own palace! Just be
sure to allot as much time as possible for your stay.
Pat Cochran
Hey, AC, I LOVE small countries. I've been to Lichtenstein and Andorra and the Vatican and Monaco and SAN MARINO!!! Bought some duty-free grog there. Clearly you can see what a cultural tourist I am.
The bolding isn't coming up on my monitor. In case anyone else has a similar issue, I'll go ahead and tell you the lie was "movie extra." I did earn a blue belt, and I did wear a scoliosis brace, like the one in Sixteen Candles..
AC, this has been a fun game!
Yup. I've had brain surgery. LOL Carol, it was not to reroute the synapses, but to stop brain fluid leaking out my nose. Charming, eh?
I had a scar along my hairline from ear to ear. It's shrunk but it's still there. So if you see me in San Fran, come up and as me to pull my hair back and show you;)
AC, this was a great post! Loved it. :>
Pat,
I've definitely been to Venice, I even set my GH finalist manuscript there! I loved it, but if I'd won the trip like YOU (WOW!) I'd have liked it FAAAR MORE! :-)
Fo, Andorra was another one I missed when I visited Spain, because I never got farther north than Madrid. Clearly I need to remedy that. Missed Luxembourg too. Hmmm...
LOL, Suz, I remembered the story about the Marquise delivery! And you have such talented children, I knew that one must be true.
Sorry you can't see the bold, Nancy. Hope our other readers don't have that problem.
Thanx again, Everyone!
AC
Joan...
no actually I adore RPG computer games... Balders Gate 1&2, Neverwinter night 1&2.I cewind Dale. Diablo, maybe your boys have played them! hack and slash!
Cheers to all
What fun this topic is!
Not to keen on rats though!
Wow, are we some interesting ladies or what??!!!?? Most of you guess my lie -- the Blue Angels. I'd love to do that, but I'd have to have a few barf bags readily available :)
The swimming championships were several years ago when I lived in Florida. And I rode the camel in Israel.
