Hot Summer Nights (and Days) in the Lair! June's Coming Attractions

by Tawny Weber

Welcome to June! We'll be having wild times in the Lair, naturally, with some awesome guests and fabulous fun.

We kicked of our month with Jeanne Adams much-anticipated sequel to Dark and Dangerous!!! Check out her 4-1/2 star release of Dark and Deadly. How sexy is that cover?!

Yesterday, Jennifer Haymore visited to discuss A Hint of Wicked - talk about a fun visit!! And we got to hear how she and our very own Christine first met!

On the 4th, Anna Sugden lured the awesome Eloisa James into the Lair - so you KNOW that's going to be a fun day. Be sure to stop by and hang out while we discuss This Duchess of Mine.

On June 5th, Gillian Summers returns to the Lair to discuss The Secret of the Dread Forest. This is the third of the fabulous Faire Folk young adult trilogy featuring half-elven heroine Keelie Heartwood.

What an awesome kick off, huh? And if that wasn't a wild enough first week, then on the 8th we'll welcome Patricia Sargeant and
her June release, Sweet Deception.

Hmm... I'm seeing a gorgeous cover theme going on in the lair this month, aren't you?

The 12th is going to be so much fun. Our very own Suzanne Welsh invited the talented Lorraine Heath back to visit and talk about Surrender To the Devil among other things!! You know you want to stop by and visit - its gonna be a great time!

Then we'll chat about Bound by Honor with Colette Gale on the 15th - and hear more about that STUNNING cover!

Talk about evoking emotion- it's so intense, isn't it?

For those who like chills and psychological suspense, Caren Crane is hostessing thriller author Alexandra Sokoloff, who'll be hanging out on the 16th. We'll find out about Alexandra's newest mind-blowing release, The Unseen.

On the 19th, we'll have the pleasure of Catherine Spangler's company, when I hope she'll talk a little about this gorgeous hunk on the cover of Touched by Light!!

and on the 21st Jennifer St. Giles is visiting the Lair. In addition to giving us a peek at her hot new Shadowmen paranormal, she'll discuss Taking Control of your Writing Career. Whether you are a published author or an aspiring author, staying viable in this crazy market is a real challenge. What can you do to help put yourself in the driver's seat.

Anna Louise Lucia is here on the 22nd. With a title like Dangerous Lies, you know you want to stop in and find out more, right?!

the 26th we'll have a visit from Missy Tippens, who's celebrating the release of her second Love Inspired contemporary, His Forever Love. Talk about inspiring -what a gorgeous cover, huh?

Then we'll wrap up our wild partying with one last guest on the 27th when we welcome Karin Tabke, who'll be talking hot Knights of a completely hunky kind when we discuss her latest release, Master of Craving - the third book in the Blood Sword Legacy.

Hmm, with that kind of lineup, who needs to leave the computer. Just hang out with us all month - it'll be tons of fun!!

So other than hanging out here in the lair and chatting with all these awesome guests -what are YOUR big plans for the summer? (or in alternate climates *g* plans for winter!)

Ooh, so many great guests are visiting in June. I'm hoping to head to Hawaii this summer, but we have no definite plans.

Lynz Pickles said...

All right, with that lineup, I'm no longer grumpy about the fact that June snuck up on me and stole May away. (Seriously, though, June showed some major stealth by approaching unnoticed this year!) My exciting plans involve camping for two weeks, and... well, that's it, actually. I'll be staying at a park near Timmins (that's in Ontario) and avoiding the Shania Twain museum whenever I go into town, because a) I don't enjoy her music and b) any museum devoted to someone who's not even dead yet is just icky. If you're still popular after you're dead, congrats, you deserve a museum. Otherwise, you don't.

Tawny said...

Whoohoooooo on the Rooster Nabbing, Jane ;-) I'll bet he'd LOVE to go to Hawaii. You, though, would probably rather toss him back before your trip. Sun, sand, coconut drinks.... ahhh, thats what I think of when I hear Hawaii.

Tawny said...

LOL Lynz. May did fly, didn't it? I was head down in a deadline the entire month and swear, it was just May 1st yesterday!!! But, June is gonna rock, huh?

Camping sounds lovely. I'm chortling over the live vs dead museum. I'd never thought about it before, but have to admit, I agree with you. I hope you can avoid it as much as possible ;-)

Wow! I can see my poor little Amazon pigeon is going to have to go to the gym to cope with the heavy load he'll be carrying to Cambridge this month. Maybe he'll have to enlist the help of that pesky rooster LOL.

Congrats Jane - I'm envious of him spending time in NY!

Our summer plans include a trip back to the US! YAY! Can't wait to catch up with friends in DC, my sis and family in OH and then on to South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore, Deadwood and De Smet, where Laura Ingalls Wilder grew up!

Anna Sugden said...

Lynz - I'm with you on the museums - and would go so far as to include biographies, life retrospectives and tributes, unless the person has really done a huge amount in their career. Can't stand seeing biographies about people who've been famous for 15 minutes! Lauren Bacall can cut it, but the latest teeny bopper band or reality TV star can't.

That said, I have enjoyed some recent biographies by hockey players - great research and insight too!

Carol L. said...

This looks like a great place to stop by because you have an awesome list of Authors and the listing of the books is enough to keep me a very Happy reader indeed.
I am looking forward to being here. Great covers. :)

Hi Tawny! Congrats on the GR Jane.
Anna S...I'm in agreement with you...fifteen minutes of fame and these people have a ghostwriter lined up to do their bio and a couple months after the book's out, it's in the bargain bin at the bookstore. This summer will be spent planning two huge parties and entertaining out of town guests. Hopefully, we'll take vacation in October and I'll be packing a bunch of books to take with me.

Caren Crane said...

Jane, you have the GR once again!!

As to my summer, I'll be working and working and...working some more. The only bright spot is the RWA conference in June in Washington, D.C., where I'll get to see my Banditas and some of the BBs!!!

Eva S said...

So many great guests, and their wonderful books!
I'll be working most of the summer, but perhaps I'll have time for a small trip now and then...And with lots of books! I have a TBR mountain of books and a beautiful garden....

Unknown said...

Good morning, I will be working most of the summer, and I plan to conquer my tbr pile. Wish me luck. Have a great day.

jo robertson said...

You're right, Tawny, that's a great collection of covers. And what a fabulous lineup of visitors!

Jane, Hawaii sounds wonderful! I'd love to finagle another trip there into my budget LOL. Alas, we're only making a quick trip.

LOL, Lynz, I'm wondering what happened to May too!

Louisa Cornell said...

Wow, what a hot time in June! Someone fan the cabana boys!

Nice Rooster Grab, Jane. The GR in NY - SCARY!

My plans for the summer are to write, write, write! Have to finish my third by the time I leave for Nationals. EEEEK

Actually I am really looking forward to Nationals as that is the ONLY vacation I'm going to have!

Kirsten said...

My plan for the summer is to be irritated by the fact that I have to work while my husband and kids hang out at the lake and play all the time!!

No, seriously, I love the summer. I mean, I love the fact that I get to have a Stay At Home Parent to make dinner for me, do the grocery shopping, and take the kids to doctor/dentist visits. Small pleasures.

I'm also headed to Hawaii on business this Sunday. It's my first trip there, and won't allow much time for fun (I arrive Sunday evening and leave Tuesday afternoon). But there will be beach involved. I'm absolutely determined to make that happen.

Donna MacMeans said...

Awesome lineup!!

Congratulations Jane! Mostly on going to Hawaii, but nabbing the rooster is cool too (grin).

Flights are so reasonable right now it's tempting to plan a trip but that would require some free time. Hard to believe that summer will officially start soon - didn't it just become spring?

Cecile Smutty Hussy said...

Wow.... you really mean hot summer nights with this line up!!!
That is really a collection you have there! And yea, I noticed the themes of very Very VERY hot covers up there!! Nicely done!

Hawaii... anyone have room in their suitcase for me!!! I don't take up much space, I promise!!
No big plans on my side of town... Actually doing a Stay-cation this year... My daughter loved it last year!

Jeanne (AKA The Duchesse) said...

Hey Jane! You got the chook...are you taking HIM to Hawaii? (And if so, are you insane?)

Grins. Have a great day with him.

Wowee on all the gorgeous covers. We're headed to the pool and beach several times this summer, so the local bookstores and Amazon will be busy delivering some of these lush titles to my doorstep for summer reading. LOVE how many guests we've got this month! wow!

Jeanne (AKA The Duchesse) said...

Hmmm. I guess I should have used correct English and said that we're headed to the pool a LOT, and the beach several times. Maybe I need more coffee...yeah, yeah, that's it...

Margay Leah Justice said...

My older daughter is graduating from high school on June 7th, so we're having a big bash after that. Then there is an orientation weekend toward the end of June and my other daughter's birthday on June 23rd. We are going to try to get to the beach this summer before my daughter goes to college - either on the Cape or up at Ogunquit, ME. Oh, yeah, and when I'm not doing that or hanging out here, I'm relaxing!

Sounds like a great month!

My big plan for summer is the trip to Italy with my husband. I can't wait for that!

Beth Andrews said...

Wow! Another hoppin' month in the lair. I can't wait :-)

Lynz, when I realized we were onto June I commented to my husband how May just sort of...disappeared *g*

I'm so looking forward to hanging out with my pals in DC next month! And I'm hoping to talk the family into going to the beach for a long weekend. Now that the kids are older, it's hard to find time when everyone has a few free days at the same time *g*

Other than that, I'll be like Louisa - writing, writing, writing ;-)

Pat Cochran said...

I'm looking forward to all the great
guests who will be visiting the Lair
this month, especially Anna's guest,
Eloisa James!!! No special plans for the summer, except maybe plant
some additional decorative bushes in the backyard! Haven't decided which type as yet!

Sounds like this will be a great place to hang out this month!

Susan Sey said...

Wow, Anna, what a great line up! My poor kids--they'll never get to the beach this summer with a guest roster like this waiting for me here in the lair! Can't wait!

Susan Sey said...

Oh, man, did I say Anna? I meant Tawny. Thanks for putting together our coming attractions, Tawny! I'm a little addled--I just attended my eldest's Kindergarten Graduation. It was heart-wringingly adorable.

And now I feel old. :-)

As for awesome summer plans...

..are you listening, Joanie T?...

...my husband & I are going to Ireland!

We only have five or six days, so we won't be able to see nearly as much as I know we should. But we're determine do do Dublin & Dingle. Any thoughts, any experienced travellers out there? It's been so long since I travelled without the kiddoes (my sainted parents are watching them) that I don't know how to pack without sippy cups. :-)

Anna Campbell said...

Jane, congratulations! I hope he's behaving.

Wow, I rechristen June Beautiful Cover Month. I've got to say I adore that cover of Eloisa's. It's like a big luscious rose.

Tawny, thanks for the great update on what's coming up. I think the lair will be jumpin'. Can't wait!

Anna Sugden said...

Just one thing to say, Susan - why not England?!

Caffey said...

I'm so looking forward to this all! I love that I've been able to visit more lately!

Tomorrow is our 26th anniversary! Gosh time flies! We won't be doing anything special this year, he's my soulmate and a great hero and always brings me joy so maybe we'll get in a dinner out soon! Most plans for this summer are at home around the house and garden since we are unable to financially take any trips. Hubby has alot of plans of what he wants to do. We hope to get a day trip in here and there but nothing special we can do this year so we just enjoy the comfort of our home!

pjpuppymom said...

What a fabulous line-up for June! Looks like another terrific month in the lair.

We have a neighborhood pool so my books and I will be spending many an afternoon down there.

Later in June I'll be heading to Daytona Beach for a week to attend a national dance competition. My granddaughters of the heart are competing.

I am so excited to be going to DC in July to attend Nationals and party with the Bandits and BB's who will be there!

Jane, congrats on nabbing the GR!

Becke Davis said...

I finished Eloisa's book two days ago and am now reading Jennifer Haymore's. I'm saving Jeanne's until closer to her BN.com visit so it will be fresh in my mind. At this rate, I'll never make a dent in my TBR pile.

Becke Davis said...

And Jane, congrats on nabbing the GR!

KDSGS said...

Is that cover model Nathan Camp on the 'Touched By Light' cover...with LONG HAIR? *faints*
Now there is a cover I would like to have as a poster!

Great line up of guests, I will certainly be back to check in!

AS for this summer? Hubby is a teacher so we plan to travel to points eastward to visit family and friends for most of the summer!
~on the road again~

I am enjoying visiting this blog immensely, cheers~

Unknown said...

Congrats Jane on nabbing that rooster! Lately he has been to much of a night owl for me to catch!

Great guest this month. I have no big plans for the summer, right now I just want to get the kitchen back together. We have most of the floor back down and I think I will go on and paint before I put my trim back up. I know if I paint the kitchen it will make the rest of the house look bad but its the perfect time to do it when everything is mess up anyways.

Tawny said...

Ohh, Helen! Snuggling up with a book and a snack sounds ideal :-) I'm looking forward to lots of reading this summer, and thanks to the warm weather, the accompanying snacking will most likely be on the healthier side. Fruit, that kind of thing. Winter reading accompaniments are always cookies, coffee cake, nummy stuff that requires heating the oven LOL.

Tawny said...

Lots of fun goings on, huh, Hawk? You'll have to hang out with us this month - its gonna be GREAT!!!

Tawny said...

Anna, I'm always so impressed with your travels. You've seen much more of the U.S. than I have *g* Your summer plans sound fabulous!!

Tawny said...

YAY Carol :-)

We're so happy to have you here!!! The Lair is tons of fun and the guests always rock!

Tawny said...

Hi Pink :-)

Oooh, a whole suitcase of books sounds so good to me! And I'm with you and Anna and Lynz -- fame is fleeting. Shouldn't we wait until we know if its going to last before the ghostwriter is consulting with the museum curator and working on the biopic?

Jessica Scott said...

No major plan for this summer except helping get my brigade ready to redeploy from Iraq. Next week, however, I'm going on R&R with my hubby and we get to see our kids (squee!) Planning on taking them to the National Zoo in DC. I can't wait to be a girl for two weeks!

Caren, working working and working sure takes a toll on summer fun :-( I hope you get some wild times in there between all that work!!!

Tawny said...

Ohhh, Eva. Two of my favorite things. A pile of books and a garden to read in! Glorious, huh? I hope you get a lot of reading time in between all that work.

Tawny said...

Fingers crossed and wishing you luck, Ann Marie!!!

Tawny said...

I hope you have a fun quick trip planned, Jo. Sometimes in the craziness of summer, just a weekend away is enough to rejuvenate, huh?

Tawny said...

Write, Louisa, Write!!! *g* I hear ya on those kinds of plans. I always think I'll get more writing done in the summer, myself, and somehow never manage it. I can't figure out why *g*

Tawny said...

WhOHOOOHOOOOOOOOO Beach time, Kirsten!!! Even if its clandestine beach time (which might be even more fun!!) its still gonna rock! Have a great time and hugs on the nose-to-the-grindstone while everyone else parties woes :-( I hope you get your fun in, too.

Tawny said...

Donna, I'm pretty sure it was still winter yesterday.

I hadn't thought about the price of flights. Thats good to know ;-)

Tawny said...

Stay-cation, Cecile? I love it!!! What do you do for a stay-cation? It sounds so fun and relaxing.

Tawny said...

Hi, Tawny! Can't wait for the whole lineup this month! And I'm really looking forward to the end of the school year although the days between now and then are a little too packed for me! The kids are signed up for a few weeks of a day camp just around the corner, and swim lessons (not drowning is definitely high on the list of summer activities :)) No big travel plans, which is actually kind of nice! Maybe I'll get time to read!

My family plans on spending our vacation at Branson and the beach. I also plan on having some me time this summer and do things around the house that I have wanted to do for a long time.

Christine Wells said...

Woohoo, what a line-up! Thanks, Tawny!

Tawny said...

Beth, a beach vacation sounds so idyllic. I hear you on how difficult it can be to round up everyone's schedules, though. I don't understand why our kids aren't as easy to make follow our schedule at 17 as 7 *g*

Tawny said...

Oooh, Pat!!! I love summer gardening. Well, I love spring and fall gardening too LOL. Let me know when you decide what kind of bushes- and send pictures.

Tawny said...

Cheri, it will be an awesome month!!!

Tawny said...

Awwww, Susan, isn't it heart wrenching when our babies graduate kindergarten?

I hope you have an extra suitcase for your trip to Ireland. You just know JT is gonna stow away.

Tawny said...

Wow, I rechristen June Beautiful Cover Month....

Ohhhh, Anna -what a perfect name for it. Those covers are just stunning.

Tawny said...

Happy Anniversary, Caffey!!!!!!

WOW, 26 years :-) I hope you have a wonderful celebration and another wonderful 26 years!!!

Tawny said...

PJ the dance competition sounds so fun - good luck to your girls!!! And reading by the pool is such an awesome way to relax - I hope you get plenty of relaxation in before DC. You know its gonna be wild!!!

Tawny said...

LOL Treethyme. TBR piles are meant to be undented. Thats the beauty of them, as soon as you take one book off the stack, there's always another to take its place.

Tawny said...

Drew, I'm so glad you're having fun in the Lair. I hope you get time to stop by between your eastward bound road trips *g* And OMG isn't that cover delish?!

Tawny said...

LOL Virginia - I just finished painting the hall and entry and yeah... all I see are the other walls screaming for paint themselves. But like you said -if its time, its time. Gotta do it :-) Have fun!!

Tawny said...

Jess, three whoops for girly time!!! I hope you have an incredible time in DC. And thank you for all you do!

Tawny said...

ROFL Fedora. Kids not drowning is a great plan ;-) Hugs on the end-of-year craziness, I hope it settles soon so you can enjoy a few good books!

For my Stay-cation (hubby does not get a vacation with his job this year.. so it is me and my 15yr old daughter)... we go to the zoo... we live within an hour of 2 of them. The aquirum(?). We found this neat little pottery place, where you pick out the piece and paint it; then they fire it for you and you pick it up later. We try to find places around our state (within a days driving or as I say... a tank of gas trip) to visit. The rough part is I inda like being home when hubby gets back from work; so the day is short lived. But it is fun none of the less! Not as excitign as Hawaii!! By I get to spend time with my daughter... before she doesn't want to do this anymore! Gotta love'm while you gotta'em!
