The weather may be cooling ...

by Anna Sugden

... but September is a hot, hot, hot month here in the Bandits' Lair! (And I'm not talking about cute cabana boys, sexy Romans or yummy hockey hunks ... okay, we'll include them too LOL)

We have at least two exciting Bandita book launch parties (you know what fun they are!)and a fabulous line-up of special guests. Plus, an insider's view from the spectacular Dragon*Con.

Let's kick off then with two important dates for your diary: Lair Launch Party Dates!

Jump into your gondolas and hang onto your oars! We'll be having an extra rowdy party in the Lair on September 4th as Aunty Cindy celebrates the launch of her second romantic suspense, The Treasures of Venice. The Cabana boys will be dressed as gondoliers and there will be plenty of cyber-bubbly, treats, a treasure hunt, and plenty of real-life prizes! Don't miss the fun!

Then, on September 14th, we get to party to celebrate the release of another awesome Tawny Weber book, Feels Like the First Time! Go to her website http://www.tawnyweber.com/ to see her wonderful new trailer.

September is chock full of wonderful guests, some new to the Lair and several returning favourites.

On September 2nd, hilarious Regency writer Janet Mullany (http://www.janetmullany.com/) talks to Anna Campbell about her wonderful new release A Most Lamentable Comedy.

Get out your shape-shifting gear on September 3rd, because Pamela Palmer (www.pamelapalmer.net) is here to talk to Anna Campbell about her fabulous series The Feral Warriors. (pause to drool over that cover!)

On September 6th, another Lair favourite returns. Claudia Dain will be dishing on her latest sexy, lush and incredibly witty book, How to Dazzle a Duke. Check out the awesome book trailer on her website: http://www.claudiadain.com/.

Anna Campbell's great run of guests continues on September 7th, when she hosts fabulous Silhouette Desire author Bronwyn Jameson (http://www.bronwynjameson.com/) who will talk about her newest release The Magnate's Make-Believe Mistress.

On September 12th, debut author Leanna Renee Hieber's Strangely Beautiful Haunted London Blog Tour and Book Giveaway rolls into the Bandita's Lair!
(http://www.leannareneehieber.com/haunted-london-blog-tour-book-giveaway/) This celebrates the launch of her novel, The Strangely Beautiful Tale of Miss Percy Parker.

We welcome back another Lair favourite, MJ Fredrick on September 15th. She will be talking about her new release from Samhain, Beneath the Surface.

Join us on September 16th, as Harlequin SuperRomance author Kay Stockham discusses her latest book, Simon Says Mommy, in which a sexy surgeon plays doctor ... um, host to his newly adopted son's nanny. But, will her ex-husband ruin their happy-ever-after?

We'll have exciting coverage of Dragon*Con on September 19th, thanks to Trish, Nancy and Tanya Michaels - our reporters on the spot. Dragon*Con is a huge, multi-media popular culture convention in Atlanta that focuses on science fiction, fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music and film. It's held Labor Day weekend each year. You have to see it to believe it - and the gals have promised loads of pics!

September 21 Celia Bowers, a first time guest in the Bandit Lair, is here to tell us about her newest release Anything But Love a fantastic story about two opposites who have to merge their life styles to fit a love they never expected to find. She'll also give us a peek at what her alter ego, Kennedy Shaw has been up to!

We're thrilled to have the gorgeous and talented Kathryn Caskie in the lair on to talk about her October release, The Most Wicked of Sins on September 27.

(Pause to drool over another delicious ... cover!) To finish off this fabulous month, Jessa Slade joins us on September 30th to talk about her debut urban fantasy novel, Seduced by Shadows.

Don't forget you can always check out the latest Bandita releases on our sidebar. Click on any cover and you'll go straight to its page on Amazon, to buy!

Finally, Bandita contests for this month:

Anna Campbell is offering readers a chance to win Captive of Sin!

By the time this contest comes to a close, Captive of Sin will be available from a bookseller near you. To celebrate this portentous moment in the history of the world (or at least in the history of Anna Campbell), she’s giving away not one, not two, not three, but FOUR signed copies of the book to people who enter this contest.

This question is really easy. All you have to do is tell her the name of Gideon’s house and where in England it is situated. Just a hint – you might find the answer in the excerpt from Captive of Sin on her Books page: http://www.annacampbell.info/captivesin.html

Just email Anna on anna@annacampbell.info and she’ll draw at random from the correct responses. The contest closes 31st October, 2009. For more information, please check out Anna’s contest page: http://www.annacampbell.info/contest.html

Phew! Never a dull moment here in the Lair!

So, with a new school year upon us, a new season beginning and a new month launching, what plans do you have for something new or different this month? Is there something you meant to do last month that you'll complete? Are you starting a new course, class or activity?

Wow, Anna, that's a fantabulous lineup for September! Great announcements.

Hmmm, I have no special plans for September, but a little birdie told me Aunty Cindy's taking another trip!

jo robertson said...

Heheheheheh, I haven't had the rooster for some time now. Hmmm, what chore can I get him to do? Ah, my frig sorely needs cleaning out. Put on the rubber gloves and roll up your sleeves, chook!

jo robertson said...

Oh, I forgot. I am taking an online course called Cyber Crimes. I thought it might be interesting.

Barbara Monajem said...

I'm taking a Beau Monde cyber course on crime and punishment in the Regency. It's fabulous.

And I started taking a yoga class. Groan. I ache all over from being stretched in ways I haven't been stretched in years. And years.

Jane said...

Congrats on the GR, Jo.

Hey Anna,
Hard to believe the hockey preseason is a couple of weeks away. I don't have any plans either. I, too, heard about AC's trip.

Anna Sugden said...

Congrats on nabbing that pesky rooster, Jo! Nice going on getting him to clean out your fridge. Got any ironing to do? Bathrooms that need cleaning? LOL

Anna Sugden said...

Oooh - Cyber Crimes - that sounds interesting.

And we have our own resident Cyber Crimes man in the Lair in P226 too!

Anna Sugden said...

Oooh another one taking a course (I should stop being a slacker, shouldn't I?!)

That sounds fascinating, Barbara - if a bit gory, given the time period. We Brits were a little bloodthirsty in those days!

Anna Sugden said...

I hear you on the yoga class - I'm running in a 5k in a week's time and the training has worked muscles that haven't seen the light of day in years!

Anna Sugden said...

Hi Jane! Hockey season can't come soon enough for me! (Though given the off-season, I don't know if my boys will have that good a year *sigh*).

Ironically, we're in Philly for a wedding, but leave on the day of the first pre-season game, because we have to be back home. :(

Helen said...

Congrats Jo have fun with him

What another fantastic month ahead I am so looking forward to it.

Well here in Australia it is starting to warm up and we have already had some bushfires and this summer they tell us is going to be hot and dry so I am going to turn the air con on and try very hard to get the TBR pile down it is going to be too hot for me to do to much and of course my favourite past time is reading anyway I am looking forward to it.

I too am looking forward to all of the yummy summer fruits and lots of healthy salads.

Have Fun
Helen

Hi Anna - no special plans, except maybe taking a couple of days off just to 'smell the roses'. I love this time of year - when the air gets crisp and the season begins to change. However, I'm not totally fooled - we usually get one more 'heat wave' before the weather changes for good, so I'm not putting away the tank tops and shorts just yet.

Anna Sugden said...

Hope you and yours stay safe from the fires, Helen. Ah air con - how I miss it. Yes, even here in England!

Well, there's plenty of great authors this month to add to your TBR pile!

Anna Sugden said...

I want to give a big shout out to our pals in CA too. Hope you're keeping safe! Please let us know you're all right.

Nancy said...

Jo, I think cleaning out the refrigerator is a perfect way to keep the bird out of trouble. Congrats on taking him home.

Castle was not on last night. I was disappointed.

Anna, great job on the Coming Attractions!

The DragonCon post will require arduous research, but hey, somebody's gotta do it. Trish and Tanya and I will just go to Atlanta and suffer for the cause. It's going to be really tough, listening to our favorite authors talk and seeing the stars of TV shows and movies we love, but we're always willing to take it on the chin for the Lair. *VBG* Actually, the only annoying part will be standing in very, very long lines. One of the first panels, on Friday, is Shatner and Nimoy. Can we all say "line out the building and around the block?" I'll be taking a book.

Nancy said...

Jo, I'm in the CyberCrimes class, too. "See" you there!

Anna Sugden said...

I hope you actually get to take that time to smell the roses, Maria. It is so important.

It's still very warm here in Cambridge, though the nights are turning cooler. You can tell autumn is on its way.

Anna Sugden said...

I'm v envious, Nancy. Sounds fab - and that Shatner/Nimoy panel should be a hoot - I hear they spark off each other brilliantly. Can't wait to 'hear' your report.

I must admit, I'm looking forward to the autumn season of Memorabilia and collector shows - always great fun. Plan to take my camera this time.

Nancy said...

Barbara, looks like a month for crime and punishment. You, Jo, and I are all taking classes related to it!

I started teaching last week. We'll be doing crimes and punishments indirectly--Prohibition, Sacco and Vanzetti, Margaret Sanger, and Scopes. And last week we covered the Red Scare and the famous First Amendment cases that came out of World War I, all involving criminal charges. But that's spread through the semester.

Nancy said...

Barbara and Anna, I feel your pain. I have to get back to the gym, and I know the first couple of weeks are going to involve a lot of Advil.

Anna Campbell said...

Hey, VA, what a fantastic post! Makes me all excited!!!!

Hey, even more exciting, Jo got the rooster!

Anyway, back to coming attractions, some great guests coming up and wow, TWO Bandita releases in September. That's one hot month!

My great news is I got the book off yesterday. Yay! I can come out and play again.

My big project for the next few weeks is all the many things I didn't do during my time in the writing cave. Gosh, those elves have been slacking off! I'll have to give them a talking to once I've found out where they've skyved off to, the little rotters!

Yes, big ears, I'm talking to YOU!!!

Joan said...

Woohoo....September is rocking!

In a couple of weeks, my BFF and I are heading down to Savannah GA for a long girl's weekend away. Any suggestions on what to do,what to see?

Will be helping at Irishfest, baking scones. Oh, and I just got an invitation to one of my dearest 5 yo friend's bday party! (She told her mother Joan Darling was one of her favorite grownups)

WRiting wise? Will be DONE with my first round revisions on Bran and dive headlong into my new paranormal...and probably my next Roman series which keeps banging inside my head to be let out!!!

God, those shields are loud!

Anna Sugden said...

YAYYYY Fo's next book is on its way!!! Congrats on finishing. I hope you celebrated in style.

I keep telling myself that doing all those little jobs is on my agenda too, after a crazy year. I suspect I'll still have that long list at the beginning of October.

Anna Sugden said...

Oooh Joanie - Savannah is a fun place to visit. Some great restaurants and things to see and do. It's a good town to saunter around and enjoy, with many hidden delights around each corner. Kind of like a mini-Charleston.

I'm so excited about your writing plans - especially your new paranormal!! Fingers crossed for your Romans too!

Anna Sugden said...

Nancy, your course sounds fascinating! Lucky students.

Anna Sugden said...

Forgot to say, hubby starts his Masters in Local & Regional History at Cambridge, this autumn. I'm married to a student!

Hellie Sinclair said...

*grins piratically* Aunt Cindy is on The Romance Writer's Revenge (www.romancewritersrevenge.com) and blogging about her new book, The Treasures of Venice, with us today!

AND she's giving away free books... just saying, you guys should come over and say hi--and then, of course, come back over here to dish about all the great books out this month. :)

Hellie Sinclair said...

As for something new, I wrote twice as much as I thought I would--or promised I would to my CP. This month, I thought I would try to write as much again--plus 5,000 words.

Beth Andrews said...

What a great lineup! I can't wait *g*

The kids are back in school (hooray!) and I'm working on new proposals, three for Superromance and one YA. Which means I'm spending most of my time staring off into space ;-)

Best get back to it!

Joan said...

Which means I'm spending most of my time staring off into space ;-)

LOL, Beth...

Anna Sugden said...

Well done, MsHellion. Can you loan me some of your writing? I'm way behind, despite an exciting new story and my best intentions!

Anna Sugden said...

Yay on all the new proposals, Beth!! Excellent!

And double yay on the kids being back in school.

I hear you on the gazing into space thing.

Trish Milburn said...

Looks like a great month! And hopefully since I just turned in my book, I won't be so horribly absent from the blog. I hated missing all the wonderful posts the past few weeks, but the deadline had my hair on fire and I was busy trying to put it out. :)

Special plans -- Dragon*Con! I get to go act like a total three for four days and love it. Also plan to have my photo taken with more stars this year. Whee!

I'm also continuing daily posting on my Healthy Writer blog and increase my exercise because I'm "thisclose" to losing 10 pounds.

Trish Milburn said...

Nancy, I bet the Shatner/Nimoy line will street to the back of beyond. I'd planned to take a book too. Suzanne Collins' Catching Fire comes out today, so I'll be toting that probably.

Trish Milburn said...

Anna C., I SO hear you on catching up after being in the writing cave. I've been excavating for two days now. I think I need a bulldozer to clear off my desk.

Jeanne (AKA The Duchesse) said...

Wheeeee! Jo has the chook! Gonna teach him to make brownies? (Or does that involve cracking eggs...)

Wow, Anna, what a great lineup. I'm looking forward to the Lair launches. As you said, htos parties are rolicking good fun. And yeah, pant-pant on those covers. Yeeeeikes! Pam Palmer gets the gold for whoever designed her covers. Whew!

Hey Anna C, go you and a big WOOT on turning the book in. Yippee that you can come out to play again.

Woot! as well about DragonCon. One of these years I'm goiing to be able to do that AND RWA. Grins. And Shatner and Nimoy? Oh, yeah, line out the door, fer sher.

Okay...back to the cave....too bad there's not a Dragon in it.

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Yeah, it's September!!

Which means one more super busy month at the baby factory...but cooler weather should be starting to hit North Texas later this month. Yippee!! (A girl can only take so much sunshine and 100+ degree days!)

I've started two new books, and of course I've tweaked the series outline for the eroticas, so like Beth I WAS staring off into space a bit.

Fall also means baking time for me, (I did mention the 100+ days of summer in TX right?) Certain things must be made in the fall...apple pies, ginger snaps, Eric's favorite birthday cake! (Sinfully decadant!)

Here's the recipe:
1 box German Chocolate Cake mix
4 eggs
1 cup oil
1 cup buttermilk
1 tub pecan topping (usually used for German choc cakes)
1 container carmel ice cream sauce

Mix first four ingredients well. Stir pecan topping into mixture. Pour into greased and floured Bundt pan. Bake 1 hour @ 350.

Let cool at least 30 minutes, then invert over plate to remove from pan. You may serve as is, it's very moist. BUT if you really want a sinful treat, pour some of the carmel topping on it. Oh. My. God!

I forsee my TBR pile getting much, much bigger this month.

Pissenlit said...

Ooooh, great list for the month!

This month, I'd like to see about finishing the baby blanket I'm knitting for a friend's baby...preferably before the baby outgrows the blanket...

catslady said...

Sounds like a great September. This sounds horrible but I can't think of anything new that I'll be starting unless you count all the new books I'll be reading :)

Anna Sugden said...

Yay Trish on getting your book turned in - looks like we have loads more great Bandita books to look forward to!

Anna Sugden said...

Ah, but is there a sexy hunk in your cave, Duchesse? I suspect so, given your fab books!

Susan Sey said...

Hi, Anna! Thanks for this amazing run down of lair events for September! I'm pretty sure my TBR pile can't take the news. :-) It's threatening to crush me already but I can't resist bandita releases...

Anna Sugden said...

Oooh yun - tryig to work out if I can squeeze in a trip to Texas to do some sampling, via Kentucky *g*.

Between Suz and Joanie, I'm glad all their yummy goodies are only virtual or I'd be even heavier!

Anna Sugden said...

You know, Becke, I work hard all month to get the TBR mountain down and then ... poof ... loads more guests and loads more purchases ... and I'm back where I started or worse!

Anna Sugden said...

LOL Pissenlit - I still have a sweater which I began knitting years ago. I have the front and back done, but i find sleeves boring, so I never completed it.

How cool to be knitting a baby blanket!

Anna Sugden said...

Catslady, there is is nothing bad about reading new books, especially if they're Bandita books! LOL.

Anna Sugden said...

I know, Susan. The whole point of me getting an office was my own quiet place to work. The TBR mountain is threatening to take over and toss me out!

limecello said...

Oooo yay new month- time is flying by! Congrats on the GR, Jo!

Joan said...

Becke, I foresee my HIPS growing bigger from all these recipes!

And LOL, Pissenlit...thanks for reminding me! I better get started on one due Feb 14th!

Pissenlit said...

Joan, you've got plenty of time! My friend's baby was born in late July, if I remember correctly. Heehee, I'm so horrible when it comes to knitting and due dates!

Woo! What a great lineup this month! (That's par for the course here in the Lair!) As for what's new? No big plans, but maybe now that the kids are back in school, I can get the house clean(er) ;)

pjpuppymom said...

Congrats on nabbing the GR, Jo!

Great September line-up! Looks like lots of fun times in the lair this month.

I love this time of year. College football kicks off this weekend (YAY!), leaves will start to change color, the Canadian geese are returning to our cove, temps are cooling down (opened the windows today - heavenly), local Apple Festival in 2 weeks and this is my birthday month!

I'm also participating in the Unleash Your Story fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis this month. Set a goal to raise $150 and read 8,000 pages so I'll be busy devouring lots of great books this month!

Pat Cochran said...

I'm currently serving as the publicity chair for our parish Fall
Festival and that project continues into early October. My high school class reunion has
been in the planning stages all summer and will be held in mid-September. It's our 55th anniversary. There were close
to 400 in our class but sad to
say, the numbers have dwindled greatly, especially in the past few years.

I look forward to all the new
releases for this month, esp.
Aunty Cindy and Tawny's!
Congratulations, to all!

Congrats Jo on getting the rooster!

Oh wow what a great line up this month. This month I plan on cleaning out the building outside, now weather I get it done or not is a different story.

Anna Sugden said...

Oooh how nice, Aunty - where are you off to this time?

Anna Sugden said...

Oh Fedora, surely your month has something more fun in it than cleaning!

Anna Sugden said...

Sounds like a fun month for you, PJ. Go you on the Unleash Your Story goal - great to see so many people getting involved for such a worthwhile cause.

Anna Sugden said...

Sounds like you have a busy and fun time planned too, Pat. A festival and a reunion - wow!

Anna Sugden said...

What's with all the cleaning?! Virginia, you and Fedora need to think of something special and fun, if you're doing all that hard work!

Leanna Renee Hieber said...

Hey Anna! Thanks for announcing my imminent arrival - I am SO excited to party with such an incredible group. Blessings and thanks!
