Who are you crushing on?

by Tawny

Joanie-T's blog made me smile. I mean, it was ELVIS! Hot guy, big... talent, what's not to grin about? Then it made me think of all those crushes I've had through the years. Oh, not the boy in homeroom crushes. The totally out of reach fantasy crushes. The OMG squealing giggly crushes. The posters stained with lipgloss crushes. And most recently, the cardboard standup of Captain Jack Sparrow crush (hey, Trish... I have Will Turner, too)

So I thought, for today's blog, I'd take on you a trip down Crush Lane.

My first crush was Davy Jones. Ahhhhh the Monkees. Fun music, campy skits, days and days of reruns. I secretly called myself Mrs. Jones and giggled while I played on the swingset with my friends, Mrs. Dolenz, Mrs. Nesmith and Mrs. Tork. I loved Peter's sense of humor, Mickey's goofiness and Mike's beanie, but Davy? Oh sigh. He was SO cute!

After Davy came my first SERIOUS crush. Poster crush. Album and TV show (Hardy Boys, anyone) crush. Oh baby, Shawn Cassidy was hot. My bedroom was a shrine to his perfectly feathered hair.

He was soooo cute, and the start of my rocker crushing. I love a guy in a band. After Shawn was a brief, but torrid crush on Paul Stanley of KISS (I made a pillow of his face. Seriously).

Then I found 21 Jump Street. le Sigh...

I juggled crushes then, my Johnny crush and the total hots for my long-term rocker crush, the hottest of the hair band hotties, Jon Bon Jovi! I crushed on him until he tried acting. Then my balloon sort of burst. I still can't quite figure out why. I'm still totally hot for his music, though!

After Jon, I sort of drifted. You know, marriage does take its toll on crushes. In between crushing on my sweetie of a hubby, I did still have a secret yen for Johnny in his bad boy, hotel-room trashing, wild aardvark visiting days.

and then there was Captain Jack... Johnny's hottest inspiring look. I don't know what it is about that swishy hero, but he totally hooked me. Maybe it's his sweet naughtiness, the wicked glint in his eye or just the fact that I'm a diehard Johnny crusher, but I publicly crush on him all the time. My husband, bless him, thinks it's because Captain Jack has such hot boots. I let him think that ;-)

So how about you? Did you totally crush on rock stars or movie stars? Did you outgrow the poster stage or do you still wipe lip gloss off the hottie on your wall? Who is YOUR ultimate crush?

MMM! Isn't Mr. Depp lovely? ;) I also have a movie-star crush on Hugh Jackman, and Hugh Laurie--maybe it's just Hughs? But Hugh Grant, not so much... Not sure I have an ULTIMATE crush though!

Anna Campbell said...

SOOOOO close and yet so far! The chook is off to Ms. Chen for the day! Be nice to him, Fedora - he's always a bit jittery after catching up with P226!

Tawny, what a cute post. Sadly, I still get massive crushes. Nothing much has changed since my toddler self used to kiss the TV screen when Ringo was on. Yeah, I've got something for big noses!

Oh, man, the list would be too long to give in full but let's go Daniel Day-Lewis in LOTM, Montgomery Clift in Red River, Anthony Andrews in anything when he was young and so breathtakingly beautiful, David Bowie in his campy stage, Adam Ant in makeup, Baryshnikov, Charlton Heston, the Fonz, a gorgeous pianist called Ivo Pogorelich (seriously one of the most beautiful men I've ever seen - and he could play like a demon too!). There's more - but I think the current prize goes to Richard Armitage. Sigh! He's seriously yummy! What I like about a fantasy life is that I can be true to these fellows in my fashion without any dire consequences!

Tawny said...

YAY Fedora- happy GR'ing... and btw, I won't be surprised if tomorrow you tell us you're crushing on the bird. He does have a charm about him, huh?

Hugh Jackman IS hot. Sweetly hot. I love seeing him with his kids, because its such a major contrast to his edgy sexiness as Wolverine *sigh*

and Mr. Depp is soooooo lovely. Don't you just want to lick the screen? I mean... ahem... smile sweetly at his picture?

Tawny said...

LOL - Anna, no deep thoughts here today. I went with cute and fun.

I saw Adam Ant in concert once... talk about sexy in guyliner!!! I still sigh over David Bowie in Labrynth. I had the same hairstyle LOL.

I'm giggling over your consequencesless (is that a word?) fantasy life. I hear ya, though. Who knows what would happen if Richard Armitage and the Fonz went at it!!!

Anna Campbell said...

Oooh, now that's a picture for the family album! RA and the Fonz in a rumble!

Tawny said...

ROFL - quick, take THAT picture!!! Methinks the Fonz would give it a thumbs down.

Christine Wells said...

Tawny Depp, this is seriously disturbing! My crush history mirrors yours all too closely!! One difference was I think I crushed on BOTH Cassidys. ::Hangs head:: Hey, do you remember when Davy from the Monkees was on The Brady Bunch? Sigh.

Recently, it's been Daniel Craig and a fellow called Rupert Penry-Jones who is on a UK tv show called Spooks. And Richard Armitage, of course.

Tawny said...

Remember Davy Jones on the Brady Bunch???!!?? I live for that episode. I'm ashamed to say I was visiting my Gramma a few years ago and it was repeated. I took the tv remote control and held it hostage until that was over!

And hey, David Cassidy was hot. In a bell-bottom, pre-Axl Rose dancing sort of way (seriously, don't you see a similarity in their moves?) Christine, I always knew you had exquisite taste :-D This only proved it.

Helen said...

Well done flchen enjoy your day with him

Great post Tawny the first crush I had was Paul McCartney I was too young for posters then a few years later The Monkees yes Davy Jones I had posters scrap books records I still have an EP record somewhere here with the song She and three others that I can't remember then of course David Cassidy drool then it was George Harrison and to this day I still have a huge crush on yes Rod Stewart as the saying goes he can park his shoes under my bed anyday although I am not blond LOL.

I love Hugh Jackman man he is hot and such a nice guy as well and I really like Harrison Ford as well he still looks great.
Thanks for the memories Tawny

Have Fun
Helen

Natalie Hatch said...

Oh you just wait until November Fedora, Hugh is coming out in all his glory in the movie 'Australia' and he looks sooooo hot right now.... (sorry channeling zoolander at the moment)
My crush when I was 4 was Leif Garrett, then I loved William Katt in Greatest American Hero, oh and well Johnny Depp in Nightmare on Elm Street, then it was John Taylor from Duran Duran, then I was 14 and too cool to have crushes, so well you know how it goes. 14 is a big age. Oh and yes David Bowie in Labyrinth... what was it? Now I look at him and I think eeeshshsssh, but then it was something sexual and forbidden perhaps?

Tawny said...

Helen, great crush list :-D You were really into the rockers, huh? Love your taste! Especially when you get to Hugh Jackman and Harrison Ford. Ohhhlala, hotties! I still remember my brief fascination with Han Solo. He was such a cutie! And like you say, he's still looking good!

Tawny said...

Natalie, I can't wait to see that movie!!! I've seen photos from him filming it and Yowza!

ROFL about David Bowie. I hear ya - I see him now and go "hmmm" and figure it was like the leg warmer phase... probably cool at the time but unfathomable now when I look back. I still love that movie, though. And seriously -I had the same haircut LOL.

I think 14 is that age when the crushes shift a little to real guys, maybe?

Amy Andrews said...

So I've heard of David Cassidy etal but I grew up witout commerical tv so these really weren't my infulences...
But I distinctly remember as a teenager seriously digging Tom Selleck as Magnum (then I kind of fell for him all over again as Richard in Friends)
And yes, Hugh Jackman is a total hottie. Y'all need to see him in a series called Corelli which he starred in with his(not then) wife. He was doing time in prison and she was the prison psychologist and oh my!!! That was HAWT!
But I have to say in movieland my heart belongs to George Clooney and as far as rock stars go - give me Robbie any day.
There's just something about a bad boy...

hrdwrkdmom aka Dianna said...

I still crush on Colin Firth, not just because of P & P, I like him in anything he plays in.

Tawny said...

Amy - OMG Tom Selleck! I adored him. Not crush adored, but definitely thought he was fabulous. I think it was his sense of humor, even more than his gorgeous face and body, that hooked me. He just had the cutest grin and little boy "gosh" thing going for him.

Remember the scene in Friends where he and Ross were both standing around in the girl's bathrobes -the 'who gets the last condom' scneario? LOLOL. LOVE it!

George Clooney is hot, for sure (and he's another one who rocked it on Friends LOL) And hey, I'm always all about the bad boy. totally yummy!!!

Tawny said...

Dianna, I have a few friends who are crazy crushing on Colin. He's never been quite my thing, but I really haven't seen him in much, so that might be why.

hrdwrkdmom aka Dianna said...

I haven't seen a lot of what he has done but there is just something about him that catches my attention.
Oh, Tom Selleck is a hottie, I was one of his following for quite a while. My thing is now I don't watch a lot of TV or movies now. I do have to admit to a fascination of Captain Jack Sparrow though, give him a bath and I would be all over that.

Tawny said...

LOL Dianna - a bath, huh? Now that would be my pleasure ;-)

I'll admit, I rarely see movies or TV anymore, either. Although I'm spending way too much writing time this week peeking at the Olympics. But every once in awhile, a hottie just grabs my attention. As my list shows, usually the musical hotties. And Johnny.

High five on the Tom Sellek crushing. You're obviously a woman of great taste :-)

Gannon Carr said...

Tawny, like Christine, my crushes are just like yours. I mean, who didn't love Davy Jones? "Hey, hey, we're the Monkees." That Brady Bunch episode that he's on was always one of my favorites. :)

And Shaun Cassidy....serious crush. The posters, albums, everything!

I thought Tom Selleck was such a sexy man on Magnum, PI. And he was absolutely adorable in Three Men and A Baby. Who wouldn't fall for a man who gets all soft and gooey over a baby?

Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow is serious crush material. There's just something about the whole package that gets to me. The picture on the blog is so sexy! Love that grin and the glint in his eye. Will Turner at the end of the third movie, wearing the black head scarf, very raffish and pirate sexy!

Now, I LOVE me some Hugh Jackman!!! And Gerard Butler, too! And Daniel Day-Lewis in Last of the Mohicans...Mmmm mmmm!

Dina said...

I had a crush on Shaun Cassidy when I wa younger.

I do have movie posters for gerard Butler now. I love Gerard Butler and James McAvoy.

Amy Andrews said...

LOL Tawny, they're just repeating all the Friends eps over here for the first time and that episode was on not long ago.
Yes, it's a great scene.
Funny thing is my kids love it too - think its this great new show.....
And I do love me a bit of Colin Firth too. That last line he utters in Briget Jones's Diary still has the power to turn my insides to mush. But if you've seen him in Mamma Mia...well, let's just say...he didn't do it for me in that at all.

MJFredrick said...

My very first crush was on Robby Benson when I was like, 9. Then Shaun Cassidy, John Schneider (Bo Duke, remember?), various rock stars a la MTV. One friend in high school LOVED Adam Ant. LOVED.

Then U2 came along and I had a crush on everyone but Adam. Poor Adam.

Then I got into basketball and had a crush on a Chicago Bull.

Then Clooney. Dang, Clooney. Love Clooney.

And Gerard Butler. (Dina, I think McAvoy could be his little brother, don't you?)

And Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Denny from Grey's Anatomy.)

And Dean from Supernatural.

I love men ;)

Joan said...

Squeeeeeeee! It's a Davy Jones love fest!

He was my first and true crush/love. I adored all things Monkee. I wrote my first ever fan letter to Davy and received an autographed post card back! (No it was not mimeographed! He sent it to ME) When they announced that the series would be ending I locked myself in my bedroom, turned on their records, stared at his face on the album cover and bawled for hours.

Then I got over him and moved onto Bobby Sherman and David Cassidy. Both those Cassidy boys inherited their fathers beautiful eyes.

Nowadays, the only consistent crushes I subsist on are for Hugh Jackman and Eric Bana. I'm telling you Aussie girls, you grow some fine men down under.

My favored Hugh? As Wolverine :-)

I also like Daniel Craig and Gerard Butler...he's not only hawt he's funny as h*ll. I like a man who can make me laugh.

Now. Hold onto your chair. Take a stiff drink but....Johnny Depp does very little for me.

Thunk!

Tawny? Tawny?

Sorry, I think he's amusing as Cpt. Jack Sparrow but as far as enticing...not so much.

Thunk!

gannon? gannon?

Even my dh thinks Gerry Butler is funny on talk shows.

Louisa Cornell said...

Nice catch on every Bandita and Bandita Buddy's crush - the GR! Let him relax with you, Fedora, after his day with p226.

I am with the Incomparable La Campbell. I STILL get crushes and the lack of consequences is definitely a plus!

Definitely Davy Jones when I was but a girl. A bit of Paul McCartney as well. In college it was Baryshnikov, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill.

Currently I have a regular smorgasbord of crushes. Gerard Butler, Matthew MacFaddyen, Johnny Depp, Viggo Mortegnstern, Hugh Jackman, Richard Armitage. Definitely Daniel Day-Lewis in Last of the Mohicans. One you may not have heard of is Roger Howarth, a soap actor who created the baddest of the bad boys in One Life to Live and is now on As the World Turns. He is actually the model for Sebastian in my WIP Dreams of Angels.

Donna MacMeans said...

Love the list. Let me add Mel Gibson from his Mad Max days and Pierce Brosnan from Remington Steel as drool worthy candidates.

You know, I just realized I never had a poster of a movie star on which to plant kisses growing up. I suddenly feel so deprived :( I recall seeing lots of posters of Farah Fawcett in every store in the universe, but - at that time - not so many of lust-worthy men. Ladies, we've come a long way.

Now if you excuse me, I'm off to the mall to correct that deficiency. Seems to me there's a spare bedroom that could use some "papering." We'll call it "Donna's inspiration room."

p226 said...

First one was Farah Fawcett.

Oh man was she smokin.

Then the next one was probably Phoebe Cates. Fast Times at Ridgemont High anyone?

Then for a while, celebrity chick hotness was just celebrity chick hotness. All plastic and ... "meh."

Though, Olivia Newton John took center stage chick-hotness for a while.

Then.... well, then there was Elle. Yeah. Elle McPhereson. Yowza.

She's still the one. You know, THAT one.

See, my wife and I have an agreement. Should I find myself with the means, motive, and opportunity to, well... do whatever with Elle, I have an irrevocable greenlight from her.

My wife, she has an irrevocable greenlight for Sean Connery. (an odd choice IMO, but hey... no accounting for taste.)

But honestly? Chicks from hollyweird and the entertainment industry in general? Blah. I think there's such a thing as TOO attractive. Too ... I dunno... plastic or something. It's hard to put my finger on.

So, other than Elle, my only celeb-crush is probably Christina Scabbia. She's the lead singer of Lacuna Coil. Amazing dark Italian hotness...

But! Even she's verging on hollywierd cookie-cutter hotness that just gets boring.

Hellie Sinclair said...

Captain Jack Sparrow is my ultimate crush--though Will Turner at the *end* of movie 3 is a close second. (Only in movie 3 did Will actually ACT like a pirate I could crush on--otherwise, he was too...beta.) But Jack...Jack is adorable and fun and naughty to the extreme.

I'm currently crushing on Gerard Butler, because I've been watching P.S. I Love You a lot, and I totally want to roadtrip to Ireland and find me a singing Irishman. But only if they look like Gerard. Or Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Hellie Sinclair said...

Oh, and my crushes from my childhood days:

Josh Brolin, Greg Rainwater, and Ty Miller from "The Young Riders"--the drama series about the pony express that was basically an excuse to have 20-something hotties mend fences with their shirts off. Great show!

BO DUKE was my first-first-first crush. And I'd still marry him if he'd have me. John Schneider is still hot. Boy does he have some good genes.

Jon Bon Jovi...Matthew Perry from Friends...George Clooney (this one still carries...)...and dozens and dozens more.

Of course, now the ultimate crush is Jack Sparrow.

Fedora said...

Well, the GR is hiding out in a comfy back room with the TBR and some snackies--my kids aren't back in school yet, and I imagine he isn't up for playing out whatever Star Wars and/or Indiana Jones role-playing scenarios they might dream up!

And oh yes, Harrison Ford! Han Solo is hot :)

(I do find that if my crush does something dumb in real life, it really makes it hard to keep crushing on him though... so it's not just a pretty face...)

Esri Rose said...

Congrats on the Rooster, Fedora!

I like me an androgynous guy as well. (I'm talking to you, Mr. Dep.) Totally forgot about Adam Ant! He was kind of on the edge of my radar. My most recent true crush was on Legolas, not so much in the movies as in the music videos the people on YouTube do. :D I used to like John Cusack a lot, back in his teen movie days.

My one manly-man crush was Harrison Ford as Hans Solo.

Mshellion, I will also confess to a Mathew Perry on Friends crush. Oh, the tortured joker.

I've crushed on Craig Ferguson (That accent! That grin!), but I'm thinking our Craigie must be having some personal problems, because he seems really angry lately, and I do not care for angry men.

David Bowie has always been sex on two legs.

Am I the only one who has ever crushed on an anime' character? I had the hots for Spike in Cowboy Bebop. Unfortunately, it's pretty impossible to fantasize about someone who is animated. Not sure guys have that problem.

Esri Rose said...

OMG, I spelled Johnny's name wrong. I'm sorry Mr. Depp!

Susan Sey said...

Ooooh, Tawny, awesome subject matter. While I don't have your deep & abiding love for Johnny Depp or hair bands, I do have a few long-term crushes:

Christian Bale (even as a singing newspaper boy in Newsies!, & yes I believe the title did include an exclamation point, which is never a good sign.)

Matt Damon in anything but particularly (weirdly) in the Talented Mr. Ripley.

John Kracynski from the Office

My husband. He's adorable.

Terri Osburn said...

Oh, I was totally hooked on the Monkees when I was 13. Even saw them in concert - the reuinion tour. :) Another friend and I would bake cakes and celebrate their birthdays and once we drove over four hours to Cleveland to meet Mickey at a car show on Valentine's Day. I nearly passed out after meeting him. *huge sigh*

First band crush was Loverboy. Had pics of Rick Springfield all over my wall. Had this killer pic of JBJ that I won at a carnival with all the big hair arranged just right. Then I moved onto Def Leppard. That was absolute adoration. I really believed I would someday marry Joe Elliott.

I still have crushes now only it's usually actors. George Clooney, of course. Kevin Costner (in the Bull Durham days), Russell Crowe (I LOVE HIM!) and most recently James McAvoy. I fell in love with him in Becoming Jane.

Oh, then there's Colin Firth, Matthew McFaddyen, Hugh Dancy, Hugh Grant, Christian Bale, Richard Armitage and Jonas Armstrong. Can't forget Ewan and Gerard. Is it any wonder I want to move to the UK?!

Love this blog, Tawny. LOL! Congrats on the birdy Fedora!

Terri Osburn said...

And I totally forgot to gush about Johnny. I fell in love with him on 21 Jump Street and have loved him ever since. I admit, there are movies where he is just TOO weird, but my gosh I'll watch Chocolat every chance I get. He is PERFECTION in that movie.

As THE Captain, he's the ultimate. Though Orlie is right up there. As Will Turner or anyone else, Orlie is just plain HAWT!

Susan - I loved Newsies! LOL! In fact, a friend watched Little Women the other night and mentioned how young Christian looked so I told her to go out and find Newsies. She won't be disappointed.

Eva S said...

Oh, I think I'm too old... I really can't remember, perhaps a little crush on Elvis...I was more for the music, a heavy rock fan; Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath,Uriah Heep. Not the artists!

No posters, we were four girls in a small room and everybody had different taste.
But I like Harrison Ford, not so much Johnny Depp, sorry!

Terri Osburn said...

Esri - how could I forget Adam Ant? I still have the albums! LOL!

GREAT post, Tawny!

As PJ mentioned in the Elvis post yesterday, I remember seeing the Beatles on The Ed Sullivan show (through the mesh of my play pen, mind you) and it was LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT over Paul McCartney! My pre-adolescent self had no idea WHAT to do with him, but I still WANTED HIM! And to this day, as Helen says, that old codger could park his slippers under my bed, esp. since I now know what to do with him. LOL!

Peter was my Monkee of choice and David Cassidy was in my age range rather than his half-brother Shaun. I also liked Chekov on Star Trek.

I hear ya, p226 on the "too pretty" Hollyweird looks. Some of the actors fall into that category as well as the actresses, IMO. I want my Lust Objects to look like "real" people, not some plastic version of beauty.

Anyone who has spent more than 5 minutes in the Lair knows that Aunty likes em Tall & Lean (like my real life DH), and my current TOP LOs are Hugh Jackman, Paul Bettany and my ever-lovin ERIC BANA!!! All 3 are very drool worthy but they also seem like nice guys too!

What a great subject Tawny! :> I have been LOL about everyone's crushes. I was young for Davy of the Monkees, but crushed on him nevertheless. I guess I'm on the outside of weird because I crushed on Donny Osmond.

From there, I progressed to fictional characters, and some musical guys. Then movie characters like Han Solo.

Y'all are SO going to laugh but my biggest crush was on Jean-Claude Van Damme. OMGosh. What a bod. Did I care that he couldn't talk? No. Did I care that most of the movies were misogynistic? No. Yum, yum, yum. Lurve me some Jean Claude.

That said, I love Hugh Jackman, Alan Rickman, and Oooh, Charlton Heston. :> Of course I only love him as a Prince of Egypt, not at Moses. I'm so shallow. heehee.

Joan said...

Well, I guess I'm a different kind of a girl, as my first crush wasn't an actor or a singer. It was a magician, David Copperfield. But then there were those guys from Modern Talking and then there was this dark haired guy -as you can tell, I'm terrible at remembering names- from this series about rangers (in the signature tune they sang about "high mountain rangers"), and of course there was The Pretender and Paul Gross from Due South.

Yay, Flchen1, he's come home to roost.

Ahh...crushes...I've had a few...hundred *g* Great topic, Tawny!

Let's see, I tend to crush on the not-norm guys. From the Monkees, it was Peter. From Duran Duran, I loved the drummer, Roger Taylor. Starsky from Starsky and Hutch and from Dukes of Hazzard, I preferred Luke *g*

Some of my earliest crushes were Jon Travolta in Grease, Rick Springfield, Harrison Ford, Shaun Cassidy. Then as I got older I crushed on THE OUTSIDERS - Matt Dillon (loved me some Matt Dillon!) Ralph Macchio, C Thomas Howell etc.

My current crushes include Matt Damon (love him in The Bourne movies and that video of him and Sarah Silverman is hilarious!) and James Krasinski from The Office but my biggest crush lately is James McAvoy. Just saw Penelope and I fell for him BIG TIME :-) Can't wait to see Wanted.

Helen said...

Boy are there some great people mentioned in everyone's posts.

Terrio I forgot about Rick Springfield he was so cute when he was in the band The Zoot back in the early 70's I had school books covered in posters of Rick Sprinfield.

P226 NICE taste! I think one of the saddest things in Hollywood right now is that cookie cutter plastic feeling -all the "stars" are the same, no individuality, no spark that makes them stand out.

I'm giggling over your free pass with Elle. And I totally get your wife's choice. Sean Connery has aged quite nicely. Dude is still hot!

Tawny said...

MsHellion - you have great taste :-) I agree on Will Turner (shhh, don't let Trish read this) He was cute, but in a awww, what a sweet puppy, way. Right up until he turned Pirate - really turned pirate. Then... Oh yeah! *fanning self*

Tawny said...

Fedora LOL on the crush being dumb in real life. I think thats probably the one solid reason that my crush on Johnny Depp has lasted so long. I really do admire him as a person - he's a strong individual, which is not easy to be in Hollywood. He's a devoted father, which is always hot to me, and he's, well... just bad boy reformed sexy. LOL.

Some crushes are better off as posters.

Sometimes, the things that come out of their mouths? Ya squint, sigh and think "At least he's pretty"

Tawny said...

Esri... anime crushes. Hmm, okay - confession. Howl from the anime movie, Howls Moving Castle. It wasn't him as a drawing (well, maybe it was LOL) but his character and struggles and growth... dude was sexy. Maybe it helped that Christian Bale did the voiceover LOL.

and I adore Matthew Perry. Not crush adore, but just love him cause he's so funny and clever.

Tawny said...

Awwwww, Susan!!! You crush on your hubby. That is awesome.

I crush on mine, sometimes. I think he's a total cutie, he's got the bad boy reformed thing, but most of all he just gets me. Then there are the other times... when I wish he was a poster on the wall.

Tawny said...

ROFL TerriO - nice list! I'd want to move too if all my crushes were in one place.

Your poster of Jon Bon Jovi and the big hair (Oh man, I miss the 80s and big hair) reminded me of those Teen Beat and Tiger beat magazines. I used to spend my allowance on those, so many cuties to add to my walls!

Tawny said...

Ooooh, Chocolat. le Sigh. Yummmy.

I've seen Johnny in most of his roles. I did skip the pervy one (can't recall the name right now) and covered my eyes through a few of them (I'm a weak viewer, scary stuff...well, scares me) but I've always admired the depth he brings to the roles.

especially the ones like Chocolat. Again - le Sigh.

Tawny said...

Eva, awesome musical tastes :-) Bummer on room sharing and poster deprivation, but it sounds like you were able to listen to great music, right?

Minna said...

Big hair... There was this lead singer of Bogart Co....

Minna said...

And you can of course find Modern Talking (You're My Heart, You're My Soul) and Bogart Co. (Princess) on YouTube. =)

Minna said...

Oh, and speaking of geeks: Stargate and that cute guy with glasses.

Keira Soleore said...

Before I get into Tawny's delicious post, I want to stake a claim.

Ioan Gruffudd?

He's all MINE!!!!!

Big noses, eh, Foanna? How about Gerard Depardieu?

Tawny, adore Depp as Capt Jack Sparrow. Is there another black-toothed, self-serving, highly romantic hero on earth???

Keira Soleore said...

Ladies, you've inspired me... Here's my updated list.

Ioan Gruffud
Richard Armitage
Gerard Butler
Johnny Depp
Dezel Washington
James MacAvoy
Daniel Day Lewis
Rupert Everett
Jeremy Northam
Harrison Ford
Sidney Poitier
Anthony Hopkins
David Copperfield
Baryshnikov (oh yeah!)

MJFredrick said...

Oh, Richard Armitage!!! YES!

Sorry....got excited there. And Baryshnikov - I've been watching Season 6 of Sex and the City, and even though he's the same age as my mom.....

I used to spend my allowance on Teen Beat and Tiger Beat and 16, too....

Suzanne Ferrell said...

OH Tawny...crushes.........

First their was Peter Whiting. Who, you say? Romeo of the Romeo and Juliet movie done in 197.. something. Yep, I was in the 8th grade and his poster covered one part of my dormer room ceiling! (His was the first naked ass on a movie I ever got to see...mmmmm)

Then came John Travolta and Sylvester Stallone. GREASE and ROCKY, followed quickly by a guy in the American North and South mini series.......PATRICK SWAYZE!! He was in another little movie, Dirty Dancing, wasn't he?

Then, marriage, work and kids. Didn't develop another crush until Remington Steel. I adored and still do, Pierce Brosnan!! And Mel Gibson in the Lethal Weapon series. Then my favorite bad boy...SEAN BEAN! mmmmmmm and Clive Owen...Mmmmmmm and oh yeah Marky Mark, aka Mark Wahlberg.

okay, off to work now!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Oh and Anna...love me some DDL in LOTM, too!! "No Matter what......stay alive!"

And Val Kilmer in Tombstone..."I'll be your huckleberry."

And Sam Shephard........he maked hamburger sexy, doesn't he? "Beef. It's what's for dinner." DROOOOOOL!

Suzanne Ferrell said...

ACK...that's supposed to be Sam Elliott, not Sam Shephard.

Anna Campbell said...

Actually Sam Shepherd is pretty sexy too, Suz. Have you seen Baby Boom? I'm so happy to see I've got competition for Baryshnikov - I saw him dance live (past his prime but still pretty impressive) and he just had this wonderful gilded look to him. Hard to explain but VERY compelling. And I'm with you about Val Kilmer in Tombstone. And in Willow!

Keira, I think you're a bit greedy putting a whole LIST out there! ;-) Especially as you still want an exclusive on Ioann.

Tawny said...

AC, I hear ya on the real people preference. I hope you enjoyed that cold shower LOL. I'm giggling, though, at the image of you wondering what to DO with Paul.

Tawny said...

Jeanne ROFL on your Jean-Claude Van Damme comments :-D Some of 'em are best silent, hmm?

and hey, you're not the only Donny Osmond crusher. I was doing a stock signing trip with a writer buddy and suddenly, there in the middle of B&N was a squeee. She'd saw a cardboard standup of him and ran to hug it.

Esri Rose said...

Okay, did I miss a comment, or am the only one who liked Micky in the Monkees?

Remington Steele, oh yeah. Forgot about him.

Alan Rickman! Yow!

And speaking of big noses, how can I forget Data on Star Trek Next Generation? (I can forget because it was a long time ago.) Data was the inspiration for my very first novel, which started as fan fiction and then changed.

Tawny said...

Minna, David Copperfield was a cutie. Clever and mysterious!

P226 I'm rolling with laughter here! I remember that line LOL. Tooooo funny.

Tawny said...

Jo, George Cloony is swoon-worthy. He's never been a crush for me, but he's always been one that I look at and go Hmmmmmmmm. I love his sense of humor. Oh- and his dearly departed pet pig!

Tawny said...

Beth!!! I think the saddest thing for me about the Sarah Silverman breakup was the loss of meaning for that song. OMG it was hilarious. Matt Damon is definitely a cutie. But I see him and see younger brother - wierd huh?

Tawny said...

Ooooh, David Boreanaz. I have a writer pal who drools copiously when his name is mentioned. But I can't pull an image to mind. I'll have to research him.

Jane, careful making AC share. She's quick with that riding crop of hers.

Tawny said...

Mary, John S. is actually a great singer. Someone gave me tickets to a concert of his (I laughed and said The Duke Boy?) and I was blown away.

Tawny said...

GO Keira!!! An entire list? LOL you rock :-)

I'm as woefully uneducated on Loan Gruffudd as I am on David B. Methinks some googling is in order.

And like you say, there is NOBODY who could have taken Captian Jack and made his swishy self sexy--except Johnny! Sooooo awesomely done.

Tawny said...

Mary, Baryshnikov has such a presence about him, doesn't he? I wasn't a fan but then saw him in SATC. Like Foanna says, he was just so.... compelling.

Suz, I can't look at John Travolta and not think Angel Flights and Mr. Kotter LOL. But Pierce Brosnan? Ohhh yeah, hot.

Tawny said...

Esri, I haven't seen anyone claiming Micky yet. But Oh man, I did love Data. Actually I thought Captain Picard was hot, too. Bald isn't my thing (still have that hair band obsession going LOL) but Patrick Stewart is just amazing and sooo sexy. But Data always cracked me up.

102 comments? You know, sometimes I can't get to this blog first thing in the morning. Sheesh.

I've skimmed through these and am feeling way too old to admit my first crushes. I'm sure there wouldn't be anyone here who would remember the shows from my youth. Anyone ever heard of the Range Rider? What about the Mickey Mouse Club? Those are the shows of my youth. And as I recall, there was a Hardy Boys serial LONG before Shaun Cassidy was a glimmer in Shirley's eye. Sigh. Most of the names on this list are mere children.

Keira Soleore said...

Hey, hey. Just because I have one name per line doesn't mean all of you guys don't have listsssss. Sure there tons of moaning and groaning and oohing and aahing between names, but lists they all are. My list is just unvarnished. The men stand up for themselves.

Crushes.

I had a bunch of those. Hard crushes too. I pined for those guys.

I won't get the order right but lessee...
I DID have a crush on Davy Jones--waited every Saturday morning for the show. And David Cassidy..yup...him too. It was the hair. I didn't even like his music all that much. I was into pretty boys then.

There was this show on TV on saturday afternoon called "The Saturday Afternoon Film Festival" and one Saturday they had a short film called (okay you're not allowed to laugh) "Three Nuts For Cinderella" (TREE nuts PEOPLE, TREE NUTS) And they were magic. I had a crush on that prince for about two years. I have no idea who he was. Weird isn't it? How you can fall for somebody in a role that way and it just sticks with you?

Little Joe Cartright (sorry, blanking on the name) from Bonanza. Hmmm. I'm sure I'm leaving someone out. OH! Steve Austin--The Six Million Dollar Man! Christopher Reeves as Superman :0(

Later in my teens when I started playing keys and singing in bands, I always had a crush on a local rocker--some musician I'd been on stage with, or we'd played the same fair stage or church or something. People nobody else would know except me. :0/

Later, I liked a little scruffier guys. Still do. Like if Orlando Bloom had a bigger, scruffier brother, I'd be all over that.

Harrison Ford (Star Wars era) and I admit to having a major crush on Daniel Day Lewis even after I was married. (If my husband reads this we may have to talk tomorrow. I don't think he knows.) I still sort of have a crush on DDL actually--ONLY in that role.

Oh, and the only NON-human I've had a crush on was Vincent in Beauty and the Beast.

There are more. (sigh) There was always a crush when I was young. I was too busy being a good girl when I wasn't rocking out on some stage to actually have a life....so I acted all big and bad and "above it all" and I had crushes. (grin)

I agree that Patrick Stewart is sexy. It's his demeanor actually. His bearing. I also liked Yul Brynner in The King and Ieven when I was a young girl.

My husband shaves his head in the summer. He's attractive that way but I hate it when he does that. I like his hair. But I have always thought Patrick Stewart was very attractive, and that made me remember Yul.

Cassondra said...

Oh, and in that 21 Jump Street pic? Mr. Depp needs to get his finger off that trigger (Picture Cassondra, squinty eyed, doing the shame shame rub finger thingy)

Cassondra said...

Oh, and Oded in The Mummy films.

Ooooooh, yeah.

Forgot about Oded.

Fan me.

Jeanne (AKA The Duchesse) said...

Keira! How could I have forgotten Denzel? Yummmmmmm. And Barishnikov. Sigh. Mark Spitz. (Olympics on my mind.) Tawny, I love me some Jean Luc Picard too, bald or not. It's the intensity. Scrummy. I also have a weird sort of "thing" for Wesley Snipes. Go figure.

Then there's the CSI guys....ahhhh...Nick Stokes, Grissom, Warrick, Alex Rodriguez....oh, yeah.

Jeanne (AKA The Duchesse) said...

Oded. Oh, my. Fan me. Yep. HAWT.

Beth, is Roger not gorgeous! I actually saw him play Philip in LION IN WINTER on Broadway. An amazing, sensual and insidious performance. TOO SEXY FOR WORDS!!

And Tawny, we'll have to see how wrapping the bad boy and my character together works. I fully intend to finish the book!

Tawny said...

Louisa, you're not done yet? I'm jumping around yelling Write The Bad Boy over here :-)

Cassandra, LOL on the trigger. Hey, he's a bad boy *shrug* and I can't believe you posted Three Nuts for Cinderella... are you trying to hurt me? Its actually painful to not comment on that.

Oh when I was young I was like you the Monkey's were really something. I had posters and mag clippings and whole book of thing I had collected on the Monkeys and yes I threw it all away. Then as I got older it was people like Kevin Costner, Sam Elliot, actor like that.

Jeanne (AKA The Duchesse) said...

Ha!

I am VINDICATED! I have just done a search that took me like two hours and I have FOUND IT! And in fact there are websites dedicated to it and it has its own cult following. It's a Czech film. In the US and UK apparantly it's retitled "Three WISHES for Cinderella" for gutter minds like all y'all have. :0P

I have ordered it. It will be here by the end of the week. (snobbish sniff).
