Breaking the Rules Launch and Delicious Desserts

by Tawny

We’re coming up on Valentine’s Day and I’m celebrating the launch of my 10th (OMGOMGOMG – TEN!!!) book release. So I do think it’s party time!

BREAKING THE RULES:

What do you get when you mix a military hero on a mission with an independent artist hell-bent on proving something? A battle that can only be won between the sheets.

Sophia Castillo is finally calling the shots in her life, and she’s determined to stay in charge. The last thing she needs is a babysitter. Not even a babysitter as sexy as US Army Sergeant First Class and EOD Squad Leader, Maximillian St. James. But when someone is sabotaging her art gallery, she turns to Max for help. When he proves to be a challenge to her independence, she lays down their relationship rules. Hot sex, good times and a lot of laughs are all good. Anything involving their hearts is strictly off limits. Before they catch the vandal, Max and Sophia both have to decide just which rules they are willing to break, and how high a price they are willing to pay.

So it’s time to party here in the Lair. And what better way to party than to have Sven man the bar, offering champagne, margaritas and chocolatinis. The cabana boys will be coming around with some special, romantic Valentines inspired desserts – because what better way to celebrate a February release than to tie it into the most romantic holiday of the year.

As our hunky boys make their rounds, here’s what they’ll be offering…

Tawny’s Top Ten Sexy Valentines Desserts

1. Four Layer chocolate mousse cake with ganache

2. Whipped cream. Just, you know, all fluffy and inviting there in a bowl.

3. Strawberries dipped in chocolate. They can visit the whipped cream bowl if you’d like.

4. Éclairs. I imagine eating an éclair like Lady and the Tramp ate spaghetti *g* Nibbling toward the middle together!

5. Tiramisu. Rich, decadent, delicious!

6. Brownie ala mode. Hot chocolate and cold ice cream. Oh my!

7. Flambe Cherries Jubilee. Ohhh, talk about inspiring flaming passion!

8. Caramel Rum Fondue. Dippable, lickable, pourable. So many possibilities.

9. Crème Brulee. Simply delicious, with its crispy sugary crust.

10. Gourmet Chocolate Truffles. Bite sized bits of sexy deliciousness.

Is your mouth watering yet? Mine is! I love dessert anytime, but sexy romantic desserts just have an extra layer of irresistibility.

Which dessert will you be indulging in (remember, all desserts served in the Lair are calorie free!) Is there a dessert you consider romantic, or think of for Valentine’s Day, that isn’t included here? Just mention it and one of our sexy servers will make it happen for you!!!

To celebrate the release of BREAKING THE RULES, I’m giving away some Valentine’s treats to one lucky commenter today! A hand-crafted (by me) heart-shaped tin filled with candy, and a book of the winner’s choice from my backlist!

Be sure and check out my upcoming party!

Valentines Party!

I’m so excited that my tenth release, BREAKING THE RULES, is on shelves now! I loved writing this story, because it focuses on something near and dear to my heart – a Military Hero (my own hero-hubby was in the Army). Even more fun was making this a Valentine’s story, complete with hearts and flowers.

To celebrate, I’m having an invitation-only Valentine’s Day Party! Including:

* A downloadable short story written just for this party as a door prize for everyone who attends

* A sexy Top Ten to wind up my Top Ten tour: Ten Tips for a Hot Valentine’s Night

* One lucky person will win a Valentine’s Basket!

All you have to do to join the fun is go to the Breaking the Rules Valentines Party page on my website, and let me know you’d like an invitation!

Hey Tawny,
Congrats on your 10th release. We definitely need to party. I love the hero's name. I really need to get a fondue maker. I can't wait to taste the eclairs and tiramisu. I hope Sven is heading over with a glass of bubbly.

limecello said...

Heh so close - but it's been a while so I'm off my game ;)

So excited about your 10th book, Tawny, and congratulations!

Tawny said...

Hi Danielle, and whooohoooo to you for snagging the Rooster today :-D He's all blinged out for the party, so watch him around the mirrors, he tends to spend a lot of time staring at himself ;-)

And I'm with you - I've been craving chocolate covered strawberries ever since I saw that picture! Aren't they the perfect combination of deliciousness?

Tawny said...

Hey Jane, and thank you so much!! I'm overjoyed to be celebrating the big ten-oh *g*

Thanks, too on the compliment of Max's name. He was such a great hero to write. Pure soldier, and all about doing the right thing, but a guy who hates being constrained by rules.

Has Sven gotten you your champagne yet? Here, take mine and I'll get the boys to turn on the champagne fountain!

Tawny said...

Hey there, Lime ;-)

Thanks so so much! I'm super excited, too and really appreciate the congratulations.

Laurie Logan said...

Congratulations, Tawny! Your tenth book sounds sexy and fun. I'll certainly be on the lookout for it.

Chocolate covered strawberries and champagne is my romantic dessert of choice and is always fabulous for a celebration - especially if you have a cabana boy or two serving!

Great party!

Well done Danielle have fun with him

Whoo Hoo way to go huge congrats on your 10th book and I am thrilled for you (and me) I soo love your stories.

I soo love all of those deserts how yummy and no calories YAY another desert that I really like is triffle lots of custard cake jelly and of course some sherry and lots of cream nice and cool (because it is really hot here in OZ)

Have Fun

Congrats on your 10th release!
Now how could I choose? I want to try all of those deserts!

Kim in Baltimore said...

Aloha, Tawny! Congrats on your new hot book. It should warm up all your readers in the Northern Hemisphere that have endured a cold winter! It will even raise the temperature here in sunn Hawaii.

Danielle may have the rooster but I'll be satisfied sitting at the bar, drooling at Sven!

Sheree said...

Congrats on your 10th book! Wow!

Even though I love the old standby, chocolate covered fresh strawberries, I may have to go with the flourless chocolate truffle cake from Balducci's (before the eatery closed). My sister used to mail me one for my birthday. It was soooo decadent, a serving is only a sliver. I miss it so....

Gillian Layne said...

Ten--on my gosh!!! I believe fireworks should be set off in your honor--does the Lair have a skylight? Hate to burn the place down. ;)

Tiramisu sound pretty darn good to me right now. And a tall, icy cold glass of champagne. Yum!

Congratulations!!

Unknown said...

well done Danielle don't work him too hard

Wow Tawny congrats on your 10th book and just send the tiramisu, thanks

Susan Sey said...

Congrats on your TENTH release, Tawny! You're amazing!

And speaking of amazing, I'd like some tiramisu, please. Each bite dipped in the fondue, with a dollop of that inviting whipped cream on top.

Le sigh.

Anna Sugden said...

Oooh another Tawny book - and one with such a hot cover! Yummy!

Can't believe it's ten already!

Hmm which delicious dessert? Chocolate covered Zach ... I mean strawberries ... and that scrummy fondue too. Oh and let's not waste any of that whipped cream.

Gannon Carr said...

Yay, Tawny! Congrats on #10---very cool. You know I love any excuse for a party in the Lair. *g*

All of the desserts sound divine---and I really love that they have no calories. So if that's the case, I'll have a nibble of everything, as long as some sexy cabana boy serves it to me. :-)

Louisa Cornell said...

Danielle, make sure the GR stays away from the chocolate too! The last thing any party needs is a choco hyped GR !!!

TAWNY !!!

TEN BOOKS!! Congrats, sweetie. Hope we'll all be here partying when you celebrate the 10x10th! And that is definitely a HOT DAYUM worthy cover! Can't wait to get my hands on him, I mean it, yes, that's right. The book.

All of those desserts sound scrumptious, but I have been craving some really good chocolate truffles so I'll start with those!

My favorite choco dessert is French silk pie. When I was an undergrad the dining hall specialty dessert was French silk pie and it was to DIE FOR!

Unknown said...

OMG!!! TEN BOOKS.... GO Tawny!!!
Woooooo Hooooooo!!!!!

(Cheering section dying down....Seems Cheesecake covered in with whipped cream and strawberries has to be special ordered....But Sven says it won't be a any problem...LOL)

Your book does seem to get my attendtion...I love the name Maximillian...and what better hero than that of an Army Sergeant. Reminds me of when my dad was in the service and we lived on base. Watching all the guys go by in their greens....YUMMY!!!!
Ahhhhh....Ok out dreamland...lol
Please do invite me to your Breaking the Rules Valentines Party :0)

Yummy treats. Congratulations and best wishes. I would love Lemon Meringue pie.

catslady said...

Congratulations on your 10th!! You mentioned most everything decadent lol. How about chocolate covered cherries and I like it to be the clear drippy juice and not the thick white stuff lol.

Maureen said...

Congratulations on your new release! All the desserts look fabulous!

Kate Carlisle said...

It's party time!!!!! Congratulations, Tawny! Wow, book number TEN! That is awesome! I know this book will fly off the shelves. I'm so happy for you!

And I'm hungry, too! I wanted to take a bite out of every single one of those desserts you mentioned. That chocolate cake looks absolutely sinful. I wonder if I could get it with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream and a few dozen spoons worth of hot fudge? Yeah, now we're talking!

Where's my champagne? Oh, thank you Sven! I'm raising my glass in a toast to you, Tawny!!

And congrats to Danielle, too! Keep that bird away from the chocolate, will you please? He gets so excitable. ;-)

Jeanne (AKA The Duchesse) said...

OMGosh Tawny! TEN!!!????? That's wonderful!

And so are those strawberries...yummmm. mmmm.

Oh, what? Oh, sorry. Distracted by the deserts.

Can't wait to read this one. :>

WOO HOO!!!! WTG Tawny on your TENTH release! WOW! Are we proud and just a little in AWE of you and your prolific talent. :-)

I had several of the cabana boys up half the night whipping that cream. Glad to see their efforts are being appreciated. ;-) (Aunty dips two choccie strawberries in the whipped cream)

I gotta say Cherries Jubilee is one of my all time favorites, along with plain ole choccie brownies. YUM!!! Thank goodness there are no calories and therefore NO SUGAR in these desserts! At least for me...

AC
off to break out the industrial sized blenders for more drinks

Loucinda McGary aka Aunty Cindy said...

(Aunty eyes Kate's cake with ice cream and hot fudge topping)

That reminds me, my all time fave dessert is devil's food cake with chocolate frosting and a huge scoop of Rocky Road ice cream...

Why THANK YOU, Sven! You do give great dessert!

Tawny said...

Thank you, Laurie :-) I had a lot of fun with the story - especially as I got to open it with a four foot marble phallic statue *g*

Chocolate strawberries and champagne it is! I think I see a cabana boy or three who'd be happy to take very good care of you ;-)

Tawny said...

Helen, thank you so so much!!

I love your list of desserts. I adore trifle and bet you make an incredible one!

Ugh on the heat there. Maybe we should bring around some ice cream? Snow cones with rum flavoring? Something to cool you off so you can enjoy the party :-)

Tawny said...

Hi Minna, and thanks.

I think, given that these are calorie free party desserts, that you should have them all!!! What's a party without a little indulgence, right?

Tawny said...

Hi Kim :-) Thanks so much! I hope it keeps things warm, except for our Aussie friends since they are sweltering right now, for them I wish a cool read LOL.

What would be a celebration dessert in Hawaii? I'll have Sven whip it up special ;-)

Tawny said...

Oh Sheree, flourless chocolate cake. That sounds so rich and decadent and amazingly delicious. And what a great sister that she'd send you some for your birthday!!! The best I've ever done is send my brother a boxed cake mix and tell him to get oil and eggs *g*

Aren't those the best desserts, though - the ones that a tiny piece, just that sliver, is enough to satisfy because they are so amazing.

and thank you :-D

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!

10 books--what an awesome achievement. It amazes me how you put out consistent high quality, fun, sexy reads with such regularity. You are my hero.

And wow, your book sounds as delicious as those desserts. Cannot WAIT! I'm going straight to my favourite bookstore site to order it...after I finish my dessert!

Hmm, I think I might choose sticky toffee pudding today. With a deadline looming (V-Day D-Day!) I need the comfort. And if it's calorie free, make it a double!!

PS did you have to do a lot of research into your hero? Like, um, hands-on stuff?*G*

Congrats on the rooster, Danielle!

jo robertson said...

Whoooo hooooo, Tawny! That's a whole decade worth of books. Congratulations!

Hmmm, those desserts look to-die-for. I think I gained 10 pounds just drooling over them.

For Valentine's Day, my fave dessert is strawberry shortcake, fresh ripe strawberries, tender cake, and lots of yummy whipped cream. And it's red!

jo robertson said...

Forgot to say, I love the sound of your latest Blaze. I enjoy the premise of a couple making all these "rules" for themselves that fly out the window when love's on the table, er, in the bedroom, uh, or . . .

Tawny said...

Hey there, Gillian :-D I think we do have a skylight -that dragon tends to need space *g* Thank you so much :-)

I love tirimisu! The best I ever had was on a cruise, with the tirimisu in a milk chocolate cup. Oh man, that extra crispy delicious layer really topped off a perfect dessert! I'll have Sven bring you one to see what you think - and to refill your champagne :-)

Tawny said...

More tirimisu coming up, Barb :-)

And thank you!!!

Tawny said...

Oh Susan, my mouth is watering just reading your concoction of dessert perfection :-)

Thanks!!

Anna Campbell said...

Danielle, with your chocolate covered strawberries, you get THE CHOOK!!!! Hmm, not sure he'll let you have any of the strawberries. He's a greedy bird!

Tawny, congratulations. Ten books? Wow, that's amazing! And to think I knew you when we were anxiously awaiting the release of the first one. You're one of the most talented writers I know and I can't wait to read BREAKING THE RULES! I don't even need dessert - your books are better than chocolate!

OK, in the writing cave today, so running away before Sven gives me YET another margarita. Hic!

Have fun, gals! And Tawny, congrats again!

Tawny said...

Smoochies, Anna! And thanks - It's crazy, huh? Ten already? I'm a little in shock.

ROFL... you might want to lick that little bit of whipped cream off of Zach, I think it's right there, next to the dollop of fondue ;-)

Anna Campbell said...

MMMMM, Zach! You taste pretty good! I might have to explore further...

Hey, Zach, COME BACK!!!!

Tawny said...

Gannon :-D Thank you so much!

I love the way you think -nibble away. I do think you should have two cabana boys, though. One to fluff the pillow and keep your champagne filled while the other feeds you bites of yummy calorie-free desserts!!

Tawny said...

Oh man, great point, Louisa! Can you imagine that rooster hyped up on chocolate? Ayaiaiaia!

And thank you - isn't that cover delicious? I'll admit, I spend a lot of time just staring at it, wondering if those abs feel as smooth as they look LOL.

Sees has incredible truffles, but I recently discovered Nordstrom has a treat section and their truffles?? OMG to die for!

I don't think I've ever had french silk pie, though. Do you mind if I try a slice of the delicious one Sven is whipping up just for you? ;-)

Nancy said...

Danielle, congrats on the bird!

Tawny, I'm so looking forward to this book. I think it will be fabulous.

I'll have tiramisu, please. :-)

Tawny said...

LOL BJ - I think Sven will make anything you ask, for just a smile. He does love to make the ladies happy! And cheesecake with whipped cream and strawberries sounds so delicious!!

Strawberries seems to be our recurring party them :-)

I'm so glad you like the sound of the story. I love the name Maximillian and had such a fabulous time writing his story. I have a soft spot for Army heroes because of my husband, so this story is as much for him as it was for me :-D

We never lived on base, so I'm having major envy of the gorgeous view you must have enjoyed LOL.

Tawny said...

Hi Traveler and thank you :-D A great big serving of chocolate mousse coming right up! Would you like whipped cream with that?

Leni said...

With the exception of the strawberries, I'd go with what's on the list :)
I tend to have chocolate cake with some kind of liqueur.

Beth Andrews said...

Oh, yum!! And the desserts look good, too ;-)

Super congrats on the release of Breaking The Rules! I fell hard for Max (as you well know *g*) and just completely adore this book!!

Not sure what dessert we'll have on Valentine's Day but tonight we had a very yummy pumpkin roll with buttercream frosting. Soooo good!

Love the heart tins, too!!

Tawny said...

Oooh, Lemon Meringue. Great choice, Petite :-) And thank you so much! I hope you enjoy the party.

Tawny said...

Hi Maureen :-)

The dessert bar does look fab, doesn't it? I think that's one of the things I love best about buffets - just cruising along and looking at all the choices. I don't even have to eat them - just look and drool a little LOL.

Tawny said...

Kate!!! Thank you :-) I do hope the book flies!! Fingers crossed for good sales.

I think you SHOULD take a bite out of each and every dessert. But now I want the one you concocted, with cake and hot fudge and oh my oh my deliciously melting ice cream. I'll bet it's yummy :-D

thank you for celebrating with me :-D

Tawny said...

heeheeehee, Jeanne :-D the strawberries are nice and big and juicy and ripe, aren't they?

So delicious!

I think Anna's dipping them in the whipped cream she dolloped all over Zach.

Tawny said...

JyLnC, these are all calorie free desserts. Delicious and decadent, truly wonderful but not an ounce of fat in any of them.

I'd even go as far as to say they are healthy! filled with virtual vitamins and minerals that will help you read faster, flip romance book pages without ever getting a paper cut and better visualize each and every stories hero, standing right there in front of you :-D

Tawny said...

Awww, thank you, Auntie :-D I'm giddy and excited. And hoping like crazy for another 10 LOL.

I must thank you for the awesome job at getting those cabana boys to whip such delicious cream! It's amazingly yummy :-D

I think you might have inspired a new dessert, too. Cherries jubilee with chocolate brownies :-D Yummy baby!

Tawny said...

Devil's food and rocky road. Oh AC, that's decadent!

Tawny said...

Hi Virna :-D Hugs!! And thank you tons, for the congrats.

Please, help yourself to the strawberries. There's extra chocolate and whipped cream if you'd like :-)

Tawny said...

Ladcraig, I think creme brulee is a wonderful celebrational dessert :-) I'm a big fan, but haven't personally mastered making it myself. Good thing for us that Sven is so darned great in the kitchen :-D

Thanks for joining the fun *g*

Tawny said...

Hey there, Becke :-) Thank you for coming by to celebrate with us!!!!

Tawny said...

heeheeheee, Madame :-)

Ooops, I drifted off into fantasy land there for a second. Sorry about that, I'm back now :-D

Thank you tons! I'm so thrilled that you enjoy the books. It means so much to me to hear people who's writing I love say they like them :-D

Hugs on the deadline!!! and UGH on the timing, With a Vday, Dday deadline, you can't even celebrate unless it's to drop face-first into bed, can you?

Sticky toffee pudding sounds amazing. I don't think I've ever had it, but I now want to try!!

Oh, Sven...

Tawny said...

Jo :-) Thank you!!! LOL on a decade, I'm not quite at that many yet. But I'm working on it.

I adore strawberry shortcake. I can't believe I forgot to add it to the list. Especially with homemade cake. Oh yum. And calorie free, making it even better!

Thanks tons on the Rules love *g* I really had a good time thinking of the kind of guy who'd embrace the regime and lifestyle of the military, but still be a bit of a bad boy. Max came through for me!!

Congratulations on the release of your 10th book, Tawny! I'm looking forward to reading it.

Ooh, I had some tiramisu Friday night that was oh-my-gawd good. Much pleasurable moaning and groaning around the table. *g*

Foanna, it was just yesterday, wasn't it? It feels like it, that's for sure :-) I'm trying to figure out how the time has flown by so fast!

Thank you so, so much :-) That means a lot to me.

Would you like champagne with that? Or a margarita?

Tawny said...

Liqueur and chocolate cake, coming your way, Leni :-)

Hmmm... I think I just got inspired to go write a scene or two *g*

Tawny - Sorry I'm so late, I've been at the Art Museum for a good part of the day. But now that I'm here, I'll have a piece of everything. Heck...as I'm so late - just give me all the leftovers (grin).

I was at the art museum attending a presentation about the soldiers in WWII called the monument men who took it upon themselves to save so many art treasures from war damage. Very, very interesting. So, in a sense, I was tied up with military heros as well.

The book sounds wonderful and love the idea of your Valentine's day party. The cookies look delish!

Hi, Tawny,

Dessert for me has to include
chocolate and strawberries!
Either Strawberry Chocolate
Cheesecake or Strawberry Choco-
late Shortcake (Uses chocolate
pound cake as a base instead of
vanilla!) How about having both!
And a lovely glass of champagne
to go with. YUM!

Congratulations on the upcoming
release! See you at the party!
(I think I did RSVP last week.)

Tawny said...

Donna, what a fascinating exhibit! I'd have loved to see that. My husband is a military buff and loves that kind of thing. My Grampa served in WWII and the two of them used to talk about it all the time :-)

All of the leftovers are yours! There are a few slightly tipsy cabana boys wandering around, too, but I think Sven is holding up quite nicely after a long day of partying LOL

Tawny said...

*waving* Hey Fedora :-D

It should be wild fun, I hope!!!!

Tawny said...

Would you like whipped cream with your chocolate cake? We have some left and probably should use it up before Anna sneaks off with Zach.
