Recently, I've been on a reading kick. I love when that happens. I just want to sink into my TBR pile and plow through a dozen or so books. (Okay, I've been busy, so it's only been five.)
Here's what I've read lately:
The Lies That Bind by our own Kate Carlisle! Fabulous read, and oh Derek Stone is just sooooo yummy! Brooklyn is a lucky girl, Kate!
The Ranger by Monica McCarty. Have you started this series? OMG! Like Speical Forces guys for Robert The Bruce. Can't. Wait. For. The Viper. Book #4.
The Emperor's Tomb by Steve Berry. Steve is sort of like my sorbet. You know, the pallet cleanser between all the courses of romances? Love me some action/adventure/intrigue. This is book #6.
Money, Honey by our Susan Sey. Susan's debut novel is witty, charming, sexy and captivating. Oh wait, Susan is, too! Love this book. Can't wait for the next one, Money Shot!
And I just read Warrior Betrayed arc for my interview with Addison Fox for next month.OH MY GOD. Y'all are gonna LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this hero and the Taurus Warrior!
And I am making a trip to the bookstore this week just to get a copy of Lover Unleashed! Yummo, love me some BDB books!
So, what have YOU been reading? What are you looking forward to? Any one I need to add to my list?

One I would really recomend if you can get your hands on a copy is Anne Gracie's How The Sheriff Was Won this is a romantic comedy and I laughed all the way thru this book so well written and such a great story.
Have Fun
Helen
Sounds like a readers dream Helen! I have been reading Nicole Jordan's Courtship Wars series. I also won a copy of Sins of a Wicked Duke by Sophie Jordan, that will be up next.

The Surrender Of Lacey Morgan Suzanne Ferrell
How The Sheriff Was Won Anne Gracie
One Wicked Night Heather Boyd
the 3 Knight series Margaret Mallory
Dukes to the Left of Me, Princes to the Right Kieran Kramer
I am currently reading Riding the waves by Tawny Weber
I still have plenty of books to read even though I am retired I don't think I will catch up as good new books keep coming out LOL
Aw, Suz, you're making me blush. :-)
I'm so glad you liked Money, Honey. The Surrender of Lacey Morgan was a highlight of my TBR pile, too.
Aside from that, I will also cop to the new Kristan Higgins & the latest JR Ward. Between them I knocked off True Grit because I loved the movie so much and found the book just as lovable. The language was an unmitigated pleasure.
Now I'm totally wrapped up in the Game of Thrones--it just came out as an HBO series--and I'm totally in love. It's like Tolkien wrote a soap opera. So, so, SO good...
The tbr pile has been growing much quicker than I've been able to tackle it the past couple months -- would love to take a vacation where I could just dive in and make a dent (even if just small). Currently reading My Irresistible Earl by Gaelen Foley and enjoying it. Recently finished Stephanie Sloane's the Devil in Disguise (was lucky enough to win an arc of it) and Elizabeth Boyle's Love Letters from a Duke (reading the early books in the series in anticipation of her new release next month which I'm looking forward to reading). So far a good week.
I *LOVE* The Ranger! *LOL* I love that series; that series was written specifically for me. *LOL*
What I've read this month--
Water for Elephants (loved it)
11 Scandals to Start to Win a Duke's Heart (loving it)
The Raider (Jude Deveraux)
High Tide (Jude Deveraux)
First Impressions (Jude Deveraux--sense a theme?)
Cleopatra's Daughter
A Creed from Stone Creek
And I'm sure there were more. I'm always reading.
Oh, I love talking about books. :)
Right now, I'm reading Cassandra Clare's Clockwork Angel, the first in her Infernal Devices series, which is a prequel series to the popular The Mortal Instruments series. These are YA paranormal, and the main characters are Nephilim, the descendants of angels who protect the world from demons.
Also reading Sherrilyn Kenyon's Fantasy Lover.
Next up after those is the new J.R. Ward book too.
Hey Helen! Congrats on nabbing the wiley bird!
Hey Sheree! Glad to see you this morning!
Wow, Helen! You've put me to shame! 13 books for you and I've only managed to read five!
Helen, I'm so glad you included TSoLM in your reading this month! And yes, I'll have to try to find a copy of Annie Gracie's How The Sherrif Was Won!
Hey Diana!
Ooooooooooo I didn't know there was a new Sophie Jordan book out! Hmmm, will have to add that to my shopping list for this week.
Hey Barb!
Isn't Scandal of the Season such a good read? Christie did a most excellent job!
And Barb, Thanks for reading Lacy Morgan. Hope you enjoyed it!
Hey Susan! Thanks for including TSoLM in your reading!! (That is too cool to see!)
Oh I'm jealous that you've read the newest BDB book! Was it good? Oh wait! Don't tell me what happens.
Hey Gamistress!
Those are all new books for me to read. Sigh, I have a feeling I'm going to be replacing the books I already read in my TBR pile! Ack!!
Hey Ms. Hellion!
The Raider (Jude Deveraux)
High Tide (Jude Deveraux)
First Impressions (Jude Deveraux--sense a theme?)
Yes, I do! A theme I indulged in a number of years back. I adored all of Jude's early work, expecially The Raider!
Hey Trish!
Right now, I'm reading Cassandra Clare's Clockwork Angel, the first in her Infernal Devices series, which is a prequel series to the popular The Mortal Instruments series.
One of my daughters is reading this series, too!
Hi Suzanne, read TSoLM and LOVED it! Can't wait to read the followup!!
Right now I'm in the midst of reading several ARCs for review.
1) Wedding of the Century and other stories - anthology with Mary Jo Putney, Kristin James and Charlotte Featherstone
2) Should've Been A Cowboy by Vicki Lewis Thompson
3) The Guardian by Margaret Mallory
4) Just One Season in London by Leigh Michaels
5) Bastian by Elizabeth Amberly
6) Virgin by Cheryl Brooks
I'm so used to reading e-books it's odd to have so many print books to read right now.
Trish, I read all three of Mortal Instruments books and have Clockwork Angel but haven't read it yet. I hope to get the newest release, City of Fallen Angels, for Mother's Day.
Suzanne, great topic.
My latest squeeze was Midnight's Wild Passion by La Campbell. Devoured that yesterday.
Prior to that, Carolyn Jewel's Upcoming My Dangerous Pleasure (Hot!) Paranormal Romance, yum!
Coming up is Kieran Kramer's Latest, and Beverley Kendall's upcoming novella.
Congrats Helen on the Chook! Definitely put him on kiddie duty.
Oh, you are going to love Lover Unleashed. It was really good, especially if you are a V fan.
I just started reading Scandal of The Year by Laura Lee Guhrke. Loving it so far.
As for my TBR pile it's about 400 books deep. Way too many to name. It's a good mix of historicals, paranormals and a little bit or eroitca.
Stormy, City of Fallen Angels is close to the top on my TBR list too. And the second Infernal Devices book, Clockwork Prince, is set to come out in December.
My TBR pile is getting out of control and with the new releases this month - Julian Quinns Just Like Heaven, Maya Rodele's Tale of Two Lovers, Madeline Hunter's Dangerous in Diamonds, Sarah Maclean's Eleven Scandals, Kate Nobel's Follow My Lead and those are the one's just off the top of my head! Then there are the non-fiction books that I have been dying to read that are on hold at the library! Ah, isn't it wonderful...to be surrounded by such options!
Whoo hooo, Suz, love to talk about what everyone's reading.
Helen, you rock, girl. Glad the rooster can help you with the grandkids. I could've used him on Tuesday, ha ha.
I'm reading our own Trish's LIVING IN COLOR and it's truly a great book about daughters and mothers and how hard the communications is for them. I think Trish's voice really shines through in this women's fiction piece.
Also reading Elizabeth's Hoyt's THE ICE PRINCESS and Suzanne Collins' THE HUNGER GAMES, want to finish that one so I can see the movie!
Kate Atkinson's STARTED EARLY, TOOK MY DOG is next TBR along with our own Fo's MIDNIGHT'S WILD PASSION! Whooopt!
FUN post, Suz!
I just read our Revenger buddy Maureen Betita's The Kraken's Mirror. TONS O'FUN!
Plus, I just finished a proofing/read thru of my CP's manuscript, a scary, suspenseful romancy GREAT READ! Watch the blog for more on this one soon! ;-)
AC
who needs a crane to see what is on top of the TBR mountain
Another book I read was:
The Countess by Lindsay Sands. It had very comical parts and a great love story. I highly recommend it!
Hey Stormy!
Glad you liked TSoLM. I'm working on the second in that series as quickly as I can.
Thanks for all the great new reads to go find. (I think I'm going to need a very large bag at the bookstore!)
Hey Slush!
My latest squeeze was Midnight's Wild Passion by La Campbell. Devoured that yesterday.
I just got my copy yesterday at my local Krogers. (La Campbell, you know you've made it when your book is in the main aisle of books at Krogers!) That is going to be my read this weekend at work! (I have to read in the middle of the night if pt's are sleeping so I can stay awake!)
Hey Danielle!
Yep, I know I'll love Lover Unleashed. I've started setting aside a whole week to read JR's books, because there is such depth of story there, I take it slow and savor each part!
As for my TBR pile it's about 400 books deep. Way too many to name. It's a good mix of historicals, paranormals and a little bit or eroitca.
Girl! I thought I was bad with 75 books in my TBR and 20 on my Kindle!
SOOOOOOOOOOOOO Let me ask y'all...when you finish with a book, what do you do with it?
I have hoarder tendencies when it comes to books. So I have a limited keeper shelf. Only certain authors end up there. Ms. Garwood being a given!
I keep large brown shopping bags, (Whole Foods) in my office and as I finish a book, it goes in there to either be donated to the library or sold back to half-price books.
How about you?
What's next on my TBR pile? *laughs hysterically*. Not a clue - though I feel like having a binge of RS, so probably the latest JD Robb, Karen Rose and Lisa Gardner. I may also do a Nora binge and read her wedding series.
Hey Dtchycat!
My TBR pile is getting out of control and with the new releases this month - Julian Quinns Just Like Heaven,
WAIT!! You mean there's a new JQ book coming out this month? Where the heck have I been? Geesh...more bags at the bookstore!
Hey Jo!
I'm reading our own Trish's LIVING IN COLOR and it's truly a great book about daughters and mothers and how hard the communications is for them. I think Trish's voice really shines through in this women's fiction piece.
Oh, so glad you reminded me! I wanted to add this to my Kindle TBR pile...(AT least there's no shopping bags involved with the reading of Trish's newest release!)
Hey AC!
I just read our Revenger buddy Maureen Betita's The Kraken's Mirror. TONS O'FUN!
This is her pirate book, right? Gotta download that one to Kindle, too!
And isn't it fun getting to read our CP's works first? I've just finished reading J.D. Tyler's Shapeshifter Alpha Series debut, Primal Law. Y'all are gonna LOVE this book when it comes out in August!!
Hey Anna S!
Not a clue - though I feel like having a binge of RS
You do this, too?
I tend to work my way through some genres for a bit, then switch. Unless of course a favorite author has a new book, (OH Yeah, like the new Amanda Quick book comes out this week!)...or a Bandit book hits my desk!
This is quite rare for me: I have a TBR pile that is like a small hill. I don't even quite know where to start. Well, I've been reading More Headlines by Jay Leno and laughing myself silly. But after I've read that, I think I'll read Deep Blue by Suzanne McMinn (thank heavens for BookMooch, otherwise I'd never get those out of print books). She doesn't write romance books anymore, but she has wonderful blog. Although she might write a book full of recipes and other stuff she writes on her blog. Then I have out of Body by Stella Cameron and Salvation in Death by J.D. Robb, Just to mention a couple. there are quite a few other books in Englsih and in Finnish (the translations).
I've recently been turned on (heehee) to Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series and I am so hooked. Book 2 is sitting at home waiting for me. I've got Jill's Lucky Harbour series & Marta Acosta's Haunted Honeymoon.
I need the weather to turn warmer, all my reading is usually done by the pool, but that hasn't happened yet.
@Suzanne, I haven't even touched my Kindle TBR pile yet. I have about 320 on there. I'm trying to clear out my print book TBR pile before I switch over. It's going to take forever!
Helen, have fun with the bird!
Suz, I try not to think about the TBR pile, which spreads like kudzu, unless I'm pulling something off it. Or off one of its extensions. I must say the TBR screen on the iPad is far less intimidating AND is unable to take over my house!
Anyway, on the topic at hand--I just discovered Dana Stabenow, an Alaska native and Edgar winner who writes two mystery series set in Alaska. I just finished the fourth and most recent in the Liam Campbell series, Better To Rest. The setting, the sense of otherness, is intriguing, and there is a strong romantic arc.
Just FYI, I apologize for any typos. I'm on the iPad, which doesn't allow scrolling within the message screen.
I also read Shady Lady, the third in RITA nominee Ann Aguirre's Corine Solomon fantasy series. Corine can touch an object and learn its history, a talent that brings her all kinds of trouble.
Before that was Patricia Rice's quirky political mystery, Evil Genius.
Before that was Chasing Fire, Nora Roberts' fabulous smokejumper adventure.
I started A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness, which so far (4 chapters in) appears to involve witches, vampires, a magical manuscript and an ancient mystery (I assume the mystery because of the manuscript.)
Next up are Lord of the Fading Lands by C. L. Wilson, which has been on my must-read-someday list and is moving off it at last, and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Price of Freedom, the tale of Jack Sparrow's early career. The author, A. C. Crispin, will join us on 5/18 to chat about it, and so I have an ARC (yo-HO! *g*).
Hey Minna!
So is your TBR pile mulit lingual? And is it twice as high to account for both English and Finnish stories?
Hey Jenn!
I've recently been turned on (heehee) to Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series and I am so hooked. Book 2 is sitting at home waiting for me.
You are the second person this week to rave about Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series. Great! Now another new author to add to my list!
Danielle!
I haven't even touched my Kindle TBR pile yet. I have about 320 on there
I bow to your greatness!! I've been very judicious about adding to my Kindle TBR pile. I have a feeling it could bankrupt me!!
Good on you, Helen! He just knew the little ones would be there!
The TBR stack is more like a TBR octopus! It's tentacles are all over the house!
I just started Madeline Hunter's Dangerous in Diamonds. I have SO loved this series and I will be sad to finish this book.
Next in line is an oldie, but one I managed to miss Cathy Maxwell's Falling in Love Again.
I just finished Ann Lethbridge's The Gamekeeper's Lady and if you have not read this book GO! GO NOW! and buy it. It sucked me in from the first page and is a truly splendid read. LOVED IT!
Before that it was Meredith Duran's Wicked Becomes You and Mary Jo Putney's The Bargain. Two diametrically different books, but both great reads.
I have Kathleen Eagle's In Care of Sam Beaudry on my stack followed by Kate Walker's The Proud Wife.
So many books and not NEARLY enough time!
Hey Nancy!
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Price of Freedom, the tale of Jack Sparrow's early career. The author, A. C. Crispin, will join us on 5/18 to chat about it, and so I have an ARC (yo-HO! *g*).
Oh man!!! I am so jealous, as I love a good pirate tale! And you have the ARC? So not fair...but then again, I had the ARC for Warrior Betrayed.
Wow! Added several from the list to my To-Be-Read pile and a few from the comments section. Great selection all around.
I'm currently reading Trish Milburn's Living in Color, Maureen Hardegree's Hainted Love (YA), Kristen Lamb's We Are Not Alone: The Writer's Guide to Social Media and Mireya Mayor's Pink Boots and a Machete.
All are awesome stories!!!
Thanks for sharing all these great stories.
