WILD WEEKEND! Banditas Revealed!

ALL RIGHTY! It is Friday afternoon and time to launch our FIRST WILD WEEKEND since we are now "officially" out here in cyber-space!

And to celebrate our new "officially launched" status, Aunty Cindy thought she'd expose a few little known facts about some of my Bandita compatriots. Hang onto your sombreros, chicas! Here are a few things you might or might not know about us Romance Bandits...

Yes, we are a diverse bunch! We write in many different sub-genres of romance including historical, contemporary, suspense, paranormal, and young adult. We hail from the West Coast, East Coast, Mid-West, South, North and places in-between, not to mention Canada, Down Under, and Across the Pond.

We have amongst our ranks at least one accountant, one engineer (Not the train variety!), and one real estate agent.

Two of our Banditas are attorneys.

Two are nurses currently working in hospitals and one Bandita used to supervise nurses (but not in a clinical setting).

At least three of us trained and worked as journalists (currently or in the not too distant past).

One taught high school English (and lived to tell the tales), and one even worked in the funeral industry (and teaches a class about it)!

And two of our Bandita sisters own more pairs of shoes than the other eighteen of us put together!

But one thing we all LOVE is writing! Doing it! Reading it! Blogging about it! So grab a margarita and join us at the BAAA for a rip-roaring good time!

LET THIS WILD WEEKEND BEGIN!

Seeing we're revealing past lives here, Cindy (hey, I'm SURE I was Cleopatra - I've got a big asp), I used to caption TV programs for the Deaf and hearing impaired. That was actually fantastic training for how to put a scene together and how dialogue and action work together to tell a story. Hey, Banditas, let's hear about your day jobs, previous or current!

Welcome to the web, Banditas! I know a lot of you, I see. I wish you much success in your blog and your writing!

I'm one of the nurses. Spend my days managing an orthopaedic floor all the while envisioning my personal hero swooping in on his black horse to carry me away (no Zorro mask required). Sigh. Hasn't happened yet plus I'm sure Infection Control would have something to say about it. LOL.

I write historicals set in Roman times though there is a paranormal Riverdancing in my head.

hi delle!!! Delle is one of the most distinguished Golden Heart'ers ever--if you remember a certain incredibly beautiful and poignant acceptance speech in Reno, you know Delle.

Thanks for visiting!

Oh, my day job? Awk, too boring to discuss. It involves a natural gas utility, some lawyering and some managing. There's really no way to make it entertaining, so I'll stop now... :-)

I'm one of the journalists. Well, now I'm actually a freelance writer and copy editor, but I spent a few years at newspapers then 8 years at a magazine.

Well, I'm the other nurse and I actually have a night job! I spend 3 nights a week in a high risk L&D. My job is divided into two aspects. I either deliver a baby or keep the mom pregnant.

Funniest deliveries? Had one deliver standing up and leaning over a bed locked in high position. Sort of looked like a quarterback taking a ball from the center!

Also delivered a baby in the front seat of a Grand Marquis one night. First time I ever had a leather upholstered delivery table. :)

What do I write? No medical romances here. Romantic Suspense and Historicals are my cup of tea.

I'm guessing I've got half the shoes (Hey Anna has more than I do!!!)

Fun jobs... I've worked for a Talent Agency, a sporting goods rep and as an Intuitive Consultant (Tarot, Reiki & Hypnotherapy).

Off to snicker at Anna's asp...

Banditas, your first day sure was exciting and you guys are off to a great start. Thanks for the introduction to the past lives :) of all the writers. It's very comforting for aspiring writers to know that writing could be a successful second career.

Aha! Anna, you've been outed as owning a ton of shoes. So do you have anything to wear to the conference, or more consideration of shoe stores is needed?

Joan: A book set in Roman times--how exciting! I can hardly wait to read it.

Keira, we have two Annas on this blog. We have Vrai Anna (who is genuinely Anna) and we have moi, who sadly is but a poor copy of real Anna. I am really a Karen! And I own two pairs of shoes and neither pair would be considered fit to grace Anna's back shed, let alone her shoe wardrobe. Nice to know there are some ASP-iring writers out there talking to us.

Hi Keira! I love your name--very romantic!

A bunch of us in the group are "as yet unpublished" (AYU). We're also enjoying living vicariously through Anna Campbell's success. We're having lots of fun journeying toward publication--hope you stay with us as we do!

Delle and Keira, THANX A BUNCH for dropping by! (and yes, Delle, I do remember your speech from Reno --AC dabs eyes with silk hanky)

As for our other lives outside Bandita-hood, yes I meant Tawny and Anna S. for the shoes, and the rest of us ARE jealous! I won't 'out' anyone else if you'd prefer to remain mysterious, but once upon a time, long, long ago (1999--2002) your old Aunty supervised 22 nurses and 4 analysts. Yes, I snapped my riding crop even then! And trust me, Foanna, I was probably called much worse than Big Asp!

Anyway, I'm very happy to say that is all ancient history now (and not nearly so much fun as Roman empire days!) I LOVE being able to devote the majority of my time to the two things I enjoy the most -- travel and writing! Okay, maybe 2 of the 3 things I enjoy the most... heh heh!

Second half of the shoe divas checking in *grin*. Did I mention my latest pair from Vegas - hey, it was cheaper than blowing money on the tables and I got something for my money ... that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I'm a former primary school teacher and marketing executive. I've also done hospital radio. My other claim to fame is my hockey obsession *grin*. Go Devils!

Big wave from NJ to all our new visitors - welcome!

Vrai Anna/Anna S (also the resident Brit)

Well, I don't know about who has so many shoes, but I once went to Las Vegas for 4 days with 13 pair!

I LOVE spring/summer shoes and this year am proud to announce I have conquered the 3 inch heel!

And while Faux Anna is not the SOLE punster, she is the best! LOL

Caren Crane said...

I will confess to being the resident geek - I mean, engineer. Even though I like to give my husband (also an engineer) the big eyes and pretend not to know how to hook up the DVD player, etc. Ha!

I give it's time to go to confession and admit to being the lone real estate agent on the loop. I used to be a shoe diva until I stopped working in an office. Not knowing what I may be stepping into when I walk into a house, I go for the shorter heel, sturdy shoe.

And wow! I can't believe some of the names I've seen on this blog over the past two days. This is great. I hope all the readers will have a wild time this weekend.

Keira Soleore said...

The Real Anna, apologies for not recognizing your shoe divaness. And Joan, you win the president-elect crown for Shoe Diva and Punster.

AnnaC & Joan: I'm delighted to read the ASP-iring and SOLE comments. See now, in a race to the top of the bad punster heap, I'd win, hands down, er, up. And so, the gauntlet is thrown down. May the vrai venomous wars begin. :)

Suzanne: I live in Seattle, and we've had a spate of highway deliveries in our county. Some people didn't even have the luxury of finding an exit ramp. I would say the Grand Marquis was mighty lucky to have your expertise around.

Suzanne Ferrell said...

Keira: yep. It was much nicer than the delivery my friend had to do climbing into the back of a Volkswagen Beetle. The old fashioned kind!
